Cool. Thanks :)
They are talking about something else there
LOL
well, they are.
Where you there when I said my harddrive failed?
@iSeth True :S
02:56
sorta, you rehashed it to me.
I did read the most of the transcript though
Great :3
Well, I got my hard drive replaced yesterday.
And I didn't get any files or configs saved, so I'm on 12.04 fresh.
I tried to play the Sims 3 using Wine, but the graphics were distorted and screwed up. I figured it was because I hadn't installed proprietary drivers.
hokey dokey
So I installed them. But, it went into Low Graphics mode. I was able to install another drive via .run file, but I was unable to get out of Low graphics mode.
I ran sudo apt-get remove fglrx
And now I am back in Ubuntu. However it's in 2D mode.

room topic changed to Discussion about Mochan's Graphics Problems: (no tags)
:3
graphics card?
AMD ATI Radeon HD 7300X
just about one of the most troublesome.
I know the ATI is a problem for Ubuntu, but I was able to use it fine last time. Also, before installing the drivers: Unity 3D. Fine.
:7570217 Hahaha I saw.
:P
okay, so may I ask why 12.04?
Coz I had it on a disc ~u~
Should I upgrade to 12.10?
03:04
ah, I see.
@Mochan not yet.
Why~? T__T I was on it before
okay, fine.
why did you ask for help if you want to upgrade :S:S:S:S:S:S
I don't have to upgrade.
@Mochan exactly.
Hey @Mochan, having some graphics problems?
03:06
room mode changed to Gallery: anyone may enter, but only approved users can talk
room mode changed to Public: anyone may enter and talk
Yup
jk
Dirty.
@RolandiXor ikr
03:07
I know. Only @jokerdino-sama got it working last time.
OH NO!
@Mochan...
?
What?
Did you say .run file :(?
2
so, you installed the drivers and now your in low graphics mode?

AMD ATI Radeon HD 7300X
Wine + ATI card + .run = bad
3
See, these stupid graphics companies use stupid run files that ruin everything :(
@RolandiXor Guess how I ran it, too.
Bad. Bad bad bad. Baaaaaaaad.
03:10
I don't even remember how you nuke that stuff....
Lolol chmod filename.run --force or similar lol...
@Mochan ... Okay, I have the solution.
Get a magnet.
Get a screwdriver.
._.
03:11
Remove the hard drive from the PC.
Swipe the magnet across it.
Start anew.
I just got a new HDD.
@Mochan Exciting!
I'm not fugging it up again.
03:12
Did you try removing the driver using the run file?
IIRC those installers offer that option.
yeah, reinstall will prob. be necessary.
That's why you dual-boot with Windows if you really need non-openGL 3D graphics
@RolandiXor I used --force which overrided it.
I know overridded it isn't a word, btw.
@iSeth That's an option. I have only had this for about 20 minutes.
@mateo_salta MOAR PEEPS
Yaaaaay. People to help me~
03:14
mmmm. yumm
@Mochan Then just reinstall it. Dual-boot with Windows.
I pity you.
@Mochan oh well use that option :D
yeah, and don't install it that way again
Wine will run fine on your system - if you install the drivers the RIGHT way.
P.S. 12.10 would be better :)
03:14
@FEichinger I no have Windows. When I got the hard drive back with Windows on it, I replaced it
but I doubt you have 12.10 lying around or 50mbs internet like they do in Japan :)
Say hello to the computer without Windows~ :rejoice:
2
+1 for 12.10 being better.
-1 to 12.10 being better.
@RolandiXor she lives in Australia
03:15
I don't think I have the .iso
How big is it?
2
thatswhatshesaid
just over 700MB
Sorry.
12.04 is great. And ATI drivers generally don't want to work at all.
LOL.
@iSeth No problem. Torrents FTW
12.10 has newer drivers, so it would support your card better.
03:16
dinner time.
"Lets do it here" "How big is it?" - Geeeeez, @Mochan.
2
@iSeth o/
@FEichinger LOLLLL
You could also use the X.org edgers PPA... but then you'd be mad when something goes wrong :)
@iSeth :O
@FEichinger I should have known!
It's a trap!
@RolandiXor Obviously.
I mean, @Mochan wouldn't seriously use a .run file like that, no? :P
That was a huge red flag, really.
@FEichinger I'm a noob at heart. Never mistake that, FEichinger.
@RolandiXor ?
he's talking about being a noob
Monkey isn't a noob :((
2
Is it like :fliptable:?
is gone for dinner
@iSeth o/
Thanks for helpies
I still need help with installing drivers the 'right' way.
Windows 8 ad on TV. :vomit:
03:21
@Mochan I like the music. When the TV is muted.
@FEichinger lol
I like to watch it when the TV is turned off.
@Mochan point. less. That's the point :D
@Mochan D:
This is pointless

6 hours later…
09:24
Can I have some help install drivers correctly now, my family? Thankies!

7 hours later…
16:32
@Mochan Afraid I can't. I've been lucky and never had to use anything more than the "Additional Drivers" app.
You could try googling it though.
sorry, but I couldn't stand that cat any longer.
It was making me dizzy.
