@toscho oh lol you figured that out, nice
Could not get it out of my head.
how did you get the id though
I am just glad he didn’t ask for a post thumbnail column.
@Wyck The ID is already there, in the input element.
ah ok that makes it easier did not know that
to be honest I did not even relize this feature existed in wordpress until I saw that question lol
me too. :)
01:05
using color:brown; in css is so fail
01:16
@toscho AJAX has request parts for that too. No need for .ajaxStop() when you're doing a full request.
01:57
jesus css-tricks.com is a sess pool of bad WordPress snippets, sad it shows up so high in google

@Wyck I think the place full of good WP snippets is against physics or something...

I like how they manage to not say a word what the time it was, what the noise was and was the combination legal... which are like important points to the situation. nice "journalism"

Q: Intense WordPress Developer's course

SixfootJamesDoes someone know of an intense Wordpress course I could attend, either online or at a venue that would take me from absolute beginner to advanced developer? I know there is no substitute for experience but I have some free time coming up and I would like to get as much information in as possible...

hm... off topic? on topic? somewhat bad as a question in general... and somewhat good
@Rarst I close voted - mainly for the reasons @TomJNowell mentioned - its a good question... but just not one for WPSE...
ooo, someone didn't get the memo...

A: list author's posts in author.php

BainternetThe easiest way would be to simply add: global $query_string; query_posts( $query_string . '&posts_per_page=-1' ); just before your code so you get : <?php global $query_string; query_posts( $query_string . '&posts_per_page=-1' ); while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> <l...

@StephenHarris if it had been rephrased to what would be required of a beginner to advanced wordpress course it would be better, when I first saw it I thought shopping question but declined to involve myself, at least till someone answered and you closevoted
Mridul slowed down... hopefully adjusting and not burnt out as it usually goes for explosively starting folks

@Rarst that's kind of a euphemism for being fired / quitting
you say euphemism, I say elegant way to put it :)

@Rarst ah, wow. commiserations or congratulations, depending on how you feel about it :)
14:28
I don't feel much about it, just formal acknowledgment that I decided to not come back from break after all
15:19
Is there any reason my custom post type called 'training' wouldn't use the 'single-training.php' template file? It will only use the 'single.php' file.
@sethetter it should... check for typos and such
@Rarst I have been, I'm not seeing anything anywhere. It should pick it up just by registering the post type as 'training' and calling the template file 'single-training.php' right?
There aren't any steps I'm missing?
it's in template hierarchy and that thing is pretty straightforward...
That's what I thought. I don't know what would be causing it to skip the custom single template.
@sethetter Without the code that is impossible to answer.
@sethetter Try it on the main site.
@sethetter Your slug is university, not training?
@StephenHarris Comment made it even worse
@toscho yes, would that cause any issues? (part of the marketing requirements)
@sethetter I don’t have the time to dive into that now, but does single-university.php work?
@toscho Giving it a shot..
@toscho Nope, same result. It will use the single.php template but not the custom one I created.. Are there no parameters for the register_post_type() function that would interfere with this?\
15:35
@sethetter Follow my last link.
@toscho Will do, thanks.
16:05
Update for anyone interested. The issue was in the permalinks. Having a slug in the permalink before the post name made it skip the provided template. Using this plugin fixed the issue -> plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/custom-post-permalinks/tags/…
16:17
@kaiser Mine or Tom's?
16:28
@StephenHarris the list all authors? just posted my own non query_posts based answer
@TomJNowell be nice
@Rarst I am, by providing nutritional, good practice brain food
with snide remarks on competing answer
how are they snide? I could have writtne much much worse
query_posts is indeed one of the worst practices, imo the function should be nuked
remember that tone is hard to judge in writing
16:33
@Rarst and you've not seen the latest edit
@TomJNowell +1

3.5 is likely to be launched this year, isn't it?
who knows... can bog down in holidays
anu
anu
yeah, that's what i'm worried about - got a reasonable size project starting in a couple of weeks, and trying to work out if it makes sense to start it on 3.5beta or 3.4 and then upgrade as and when.
rule of a thumb would probably be if you need new media management...

17:05
is the beta a proper beta - ie functionally complete? this is me being lazy - i should just install the thing and check
@anu Gallery management is changing drastically.
anu
anu
@toscho yup, that's one of the reasons i'm keen to switch now, does beta 2 have most of the changes in? the schedule page (make.wordpress.org/core/version-3-5-project-schedule) implies that it should
@anu Not sure, I am using Trunk or latest final.
anu
anu
ok, no worries, i'll have a play around and see
17:55
@toscho how far have the gallery changes gone? Have they implemented the basic UI as intended yet?
Ive seen the media posts have changed
Note there are two buttons currently.
18:17
How to write a lousy theme from scratch. I can predict the questions we will get from their readers.
the_title_attribute is escaped already correct?
yes
@toscho so you're above title ^ is correct ;)
The article about the header.php … look how to break compatibility with any plugin that tries to filter wp_title.

@toscho one for each type of uploader/gallery? noting the different tinymce style too
@TomJNowell No, that is just temporary. Maybe to make it easier to compare both.
@toscho yeah he old and the new, keep old while new is being developed, like when you build a replacement house next dor then knock down your current house when it's finished
