@RebeccaChernoff explanations are always welcome...
@kaiser the api only allows a singe oauth domain (subdomains are fine) for the redirect. so to handle things like blog.gaming.stackexchange.com, blog.superuser.com, scifi.blogoverflow.com, etc, instead of using the "local" version of my login page, the login_url filter passes everyone over to blogoverflow.com/path/to/login/page.
In putting this up for testing, I enabled the plugin only on one blog, not the network. Unfortunately, I didn't do it on the blogoverflow.com, but on a child.blogoverflow.com blog. So, the flow got passed to the blogoverflow.com login page, where the plugin wasn't enabled, thus the authentication wasn't running.
@RebeccaChernoff self coded plugin?
btw: appreciate explanation
Just to calm you down: On an "advanced" level (compared to every day questions on WPSE), you often get to the point, where extremely simple things kill your day: if ( /* some condtion */ ) return; mostly is what destroys an easy tasks "easy" attribute :)

Any one uses Redirection plugin? Description says it supports 302 redirection, but I see no option as such.
03:27
@AahanKrish would pass-through work?
@MichaelEcklund nah, it seems to do 301 :(

link from manager to post on how to manage employee who is creative, but control freak and probably mentally ill. speechless.
10:37
@Rarst can I see that post?

My current favorites (browsers): Firefox (for reading) and Chrome for everything else.

@rarst adding it to my employer manual

I’m innocent.
@toscho I deeply don't understand people concerned with arguments order...
@Rarst because it reduces mistakes if the API is consistent
@Rarst I appreciate the polemic, not the argument. The latter is wrong.
12:20
There's nothing wrong with PHP, the Taliban use it!
12:59
oh, this is going to one crazy day!.. :)
13:15
@Rarst @TomJNowell ...and the argument order is my daily "WUT? Y U NO WORK?"... multiple times.
@kaiser get decent IDE
@Rarst No. Force PHP to check is_string() and is_array() and then shuffle stuff in case to align it with my current brain condition.
whatever works for you :)
yea. maybe with PHP 7 :)
on above - so apparently I am mental case, ungrateful for adjustments team makes to please "my situation" (what situation?)... taking guesses if I am still employed by end of this day :)
13:25
@TomJNowell aahank.com -- keeping it real simple
@AahanKrish might be best to put up a page as your frontpage with a quick hello Im me this is what I do here're my sites thing
then take it down when you have something other than hello world
@Rarst Hire a better team!
@TomJNowell lol! I expected that. :D

what do you guys recommend for regenerating slugs on a CPT
wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rp-recreate-slugs seems to be like a lone ranger, not sure its trustworthy
14:17
@lkraav Should be a) a plugin, b) tested in a local vanilla install c) runs currently on every request.
14:28
@kaiser you mean @toscho's snippet?
@lkraav yes
right. yeah absolutely.
14:46
anyone has a clue about HTML5 datalists? have quick question
@userabuser is this similar to what you suggested for "redirects in WP" that day? wordpress.stackexchange.com/a/58883/10691

Anyone used/using StudioPress themes or plugins? After seeing this plugin's code, I was kinda impressed. :)

3.5 Removing “Links” great..I juts built a whole sites ad widgets around this
@Wyck they could be move into CPT
@Sisir I could move them anywhere, but moving 40+ ads = work
im hoping the functionality is preserved somehow
they said it will be moved to a plugin...
20:57
@Wyck Where did you read that?
@Wyck "Wednesday, December 5 is our target for 3.5." Why are you worried now? lol that's so far away.
@MichaelEcklund Some of us have no free time until then.
@MichaelEcklund im not worried , but I would have built it a diff way if I had know that, not huge deal just a couple hours
but it seems like I have to many "couple hours" things
@toscho Well pawn stuff to me if you don't have time. I'll do it.
21:02
@MichaelEcklund want to make a hacky css/php mobile version of a site, pm me , I just turned it down
21:36
Is this equally crappy at your installations? Viewing it currently in Chrome latest. Btw: It's the "Attach" jQuery dialog.
Oh: wow! It needs the a) wp-admin.dev.css and b) colors-fresh.dev.css stylesheets...
Hope the jQuery UI styles are coming into core with 3.5...
21:52
ha, past midnight and I am still employed!.. but at the rate drama is going they are not very interested in keeping me around :)
@Rarst Where do you work?
@MichaelEcklund remote for smallish WP firm
@Rarst cool, i'm trying to get in somewhere doing the alike. but i have terrible luck.
@MichaelEcklund get better until people will be chasing after you
@Rarst i suppose that calls for a decent portfolio site?
21:55
@MichaelEcklund I don't have one so not really...
@Rarst linkedin?
not on it...
@Rarst how are they finding you then?
hint - you are in a chat of this site?
hah
so more rep grabs employer's attention?
21:56
I am hardly hot goods btw. not US based, not much into core, etc
not as much rep but it's easy to check out if you have a clue here... try setting up careers profile with your best stuff
i applied, and made an account. haven't taken much time to fill it out though.
@Rarst im probably about half the level you are though, do you think i'm still wanted?
it's a lot about who you know, so get to know more people
@MichaelEcklund well, looking at the current drama I am not that wanted myself :)
@MichaelEcklund If you need a portfolio you failed already. :)
@Wyck true as well
22:00
well thanks for the useful advice guys.
I so don't feel qualified to give career advice today... not that I am much ever :)
lol, well i scratch my head everyday figuring out how i can get a job working with wordpress all day everyday.
i love wordpress
@MichaelEcklund that's irrelevant :D
@Rarst i feel that statement was on course.
@MichaelEcklund Be visible. Specialize. Stay above the fold. That’s all.
22:06
@toscho Wow that mrwweb moved up fast. we had about the same rep a month or two ago.
Compare the graphs: yours and his. Do you see what’s the difference? :)
i know, but he doesn't have to take his cats for a walk everyday like i do.
he is visible. many of the high rep users get upvotes because they are recognized.
i have one in a VirtualBox but it is rather outdated.
22:46
"Full Retina support" for 3.5... khm
@Wyck wouldn't worry too much - guess they will (as always) try to keep things backwards compat.
23:43
can wp_update_post() be used to change the guid of a post?
@MichaelEcklund don't think so, its a unique identifier , from what I know can only be changed in db
@Wyck would this SQL query work for updating every post's guid url?

UPDATE wp_posts SET guid = REPLACE(guid,'www.domain.com/','www.example.com/');
@MichaelEcklund I would leave the guid as is
@MichaelEcklund Yes, just pass 'guid' as argument for the parameter array.
@Wyck i need to update the urls. i switched domains. the old urls are still displaying.
23:56
See wp_insert_post() for a list of possible arguments.
@MichaelEcklund The GUID is not an URL.
@toscho okay, so wp_update_post() would work?
Yes. Test it.
how come when i dump all posts, it shows a url? and even in the db, it shows a url?
the guid is stupid
It is built like an URL, but it doesn’t represent a real address.
23:57
and no one wants to fix it
the only thing/reason you should fiddle with it is for media uploads, codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL#Important_GUID_Note
anu
anu
GUID is just a unique identifier - it just needs to be unique within the database, and not change
