Weird, I see no option to edit this post: wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/56139/…
Is that because I just edited a post? Is this come kind of "flood control" over edits? or just me?

Q: Common user login with session for WP & WPMU.

Ajay PatelI have one WP and another is WPMU installation. I want to make common user login with session. I have solved by common login with db. //table name use in two wordpress define('CUSTOM_USER_TABLE', 'wp1_users'); define('CUSTOM_USER_META_TABLE', 'wp1_usermeta'); Its works for common user login, ...

Any one please help me
@toscho Do you know the solution for this wordpress.stackexchange.com/q/56152/12261
@Rarst Let me know if you need some help with names for your plugin because I am working on a similar project (bit more in depth than that described by where-am-i) except its a web/iphone/ipad app (not wp plugin) anyway I had come up with the same name but opted for another on a list of candidates I came up with, anyhow, there are some that didn't make the cut for my purpose which might be suitable for your purpose.
07:25
@userabuser Can you please help me '
for common user login ?
@AjayPatel Hi, not at present as I am working on a project. Give it some time people will start to help you on site :)
@userabuser Okay Fine :)
07:39
@TomJNowell vocal trance/vocal chill out mainly
electronic music in general.
@Brady Good man! Electronic head here too :)
08:01
@Brady lol @ your website headline.. haha
@userabuser I went with "This Place Is" at moment... mine has nothing to do with geo btw, thing for WP devs
Ah ok, yeah I was trying to make sense of it on your twitter stream :)
You could also try, "Where is" or "Show me where" or "I am here" or something like that too..
ok got you now!
looks good, always need more good dev tools
@userabuser yeah thats when I was a kid. I don't think its fitting anymore.
the site is over 5 years old...
08:07
@userabuser and some code needs tools more than other...
doesnt get much attention
@Rarst No doubt!
@Brady So you're 18 now right?
@userabuser huh?
Obviously flew over your head...
@userabuser obviously...
08:09
5 years ago you were a kid. So I said you're 18 now, making you 13 at the time, what I'd call a kid.
I call a kid someone that is not of a legal age :P
as in 18 ;)
so turning 18 then 5 years would make me 23. which I am :)
or that...
youngster
And I did say over 5 years ;)
well that could have been 5 years and 1 day which is still over 5 years..
Do you fit in with anybody yet? Chat misfits excluded
08:31
@userabuser yeah Ive had girlfriends since then ;)
College and University were lonely times for me
Do an electrical and electronic engineering course means there are no women in your class
@Brady The price you pay to earn the big bucks
@userabuser urm... I wouldnt say big bucks
my career is in web development
oh.. in that case you're poor like the rest of us.
electrical and electronic engineering is a fallback if I get bored of web dev
It doesnt bother me. I earn more than everyone that I went to college with
most of the people I went to uni with too
Web dev only gets boring (I find) if you are not able to work on projects of your own, or further your learning... I suffered this problem a while back and then decided to shift my focus to personal web projects
was taking the piss on income, web dev can pay nicely
08:36
@userabuser Yeah I'm starting to get bored at work. Ive been here just over 2 years now
eg. a close friend of mine just got another 200k pa dev job...
@userabuser nice
@Brady That usually happens to the types of people who are really creative, usually entrepreneur types
what's "pa dev"
pa = per anum (per year)
but thats working as an employee not for himself
JavaScript developer
08:38
@userabuser not me. I have no creative bone in me
I'm just a do'er not a creator
well i do create things but its always someone elses vision ;)
ah, you just havent given yourself the opportunity yet thats all...
got to go for a bit back later...
@userabuser problem is I don't have many personal challenges in my life that can be fixed by code.
The only challenge I have is I need more money to get a property that I can call my own.
@userabuser word, impressive. what area?
09:27
Morning
@Rarst this looks useful, where can I find it?
anu
anu
09:41
Opinions about TinyMCE or ckEditor for comment editing wysiwgness? Particularly concerned about mobile usability. Was using redactor, but it's quite broken for iOS
@lkraav E-commerce, data visualization, real time development and a number of areas. Though JS is not the only area of expertise. Some really good paying jobs out there if you like to work for start ups etc.
@Brady Firstly its not about whether YOU have any personal challenges that can be fixed by code, its often about others. There's nothing wrong with doing whats already been done also, as opposed to having to be original each and every single time (common misconception). However that last statement there about you needing a property to call you own is a big enough driving force to underpin creativity, for profit or otherwise. That I know first hand...
@anu Both TinyMCE and ckEditor are highly extensible via their own APIs - I quite like both, even though I am more partial to ckEditor, I get a long with TinyMCE just fine considering the aforementioned. Are you talking about front-end comment editing?
If so, consider something like Aloha editor too!
is this stackexchange chat engine open sourced yet?
i'm looking for a a self-hostable web chat engine to replace the crap that is skype text chat
Don't know... though I've been playing around (as a hobby) with building my own using node.js - not that difficult if you can be bothered
I think there are some example real time chat engines you can use as starter code too
i'm already building like 10 things, already way above my limits
:(
There would even be other real time open source chat engines you can DL as read to go products...
09:49
i was looking at candy-chat
this might be a good base to roll with
haha.. sound like me... always take on more than i can handle
yet it would also require a whole bunch of UI customizations
well yeah, with software, imagination is your only limit
and imagination really needs to be stopped :)
yeah but at least you have a starting base to work with... ui customization ain't nothing...
it gets you into trouble
don't i know it :)
i resort to writing my ideas down in a book now so i can get them out of my head, kind of like a process to stay focused, it does help...
09:51
yep, i run my own instances of trac
try to keep track of everything at least halfway
re what area that 200k was, i was wondering about the geographical area
Australia
But its an International company
US/AU
wow. ok.
guy has skill though...
09:54
no doubt
@TomJNowell it's barely alpha, I spent like a total of one hour on it yesterday... will probably be for official repo release
@lkraav nope. hosting chat is pain, we went with HipChat service at work
Candy Chat is nicely documented
oic, hipchat also acquired by atlassian huh
grrrrrrr... PHP resolving symlinks seriously cramps it
10:05
@Rarst yeah i'm seriously feeling the "symlinking plugins fail" core bug too
i basically need to keep most of my critical business plugins in git, to keep track of what the regular fails are and why
@userabuser when you have things symlinked into WP from other folder, it all resolves to external location and wreaks havoc on functions that assume it's in proper place
symlinking is much easier than even git new-workdir
we have a fix for junctioning with PHP 5.3 here =p
@TomJNowell which kind of a fix?
if things don't look right it modifies to the appropriate value
@Rarst it compares paths and the plugins_url hook
the other developer here wrote it, his plugins URL is a huge mishmash of junctioned in plugins from /trunk/ folders elsewhere on his drive
place in your mu-plugins folder
junction not function-fix.php gist.github.com/2971872
10:20
@TomJNowell I can and do that myself.. however it only works with some functions. plugin_basename() for example has no hook to use :(
this seems more elaborate so I will poke it later... deadline today
thanks!
@Rarst =/ well we use it here with no issues, I'd ask but he's in a meeting right now
@TomJNowell I had to nag Yoast about this in his plugin... he saves stuff in constants and there was no way to deal with it at all
I just performed manual plugin upgrade via SSH without thinking much into it... sitting here slightly scared of myself
anu
anu
@userabuser cheers and yes, front end comment editing. Looked at aloha, quite heavy, dont like the ribbon, or the floating toolbar. Probably can all be customised, but too much effort. Looks like tinymce, annoyed at how broken redactor is for iOS
@anu There were a few editors on Github I found, have you looked there too?
how bad is it broken for iOS? not possible to fix?
anu
anu
10:35
@userabuser looking at many options, but easiest to just settle on one of the 2 most popular choices. I'm sure it's possible to fix redactor, but as it's a commercial offering, that's something the developers should do.
true, though tinymce/ckeditor seem quite heavy for comment editing
what're peoples opinions of the _s' theme?
anu
anu
@TomJNowell it's a nice basic starter - built a couple of sites with it recently and it went well.
I'm throwing away my grand designs for my new site and wanting something I can get up quickly but be extensible
anu
anu
@userabuser aloha is similarly sized, and right now I just need something working
10:44
@anu any pitfalls or forks I should look at?
anu
anu
@TomJNowell nothing comes to mind - it's very bare-boned, so there's not much you need to understand. I haven't looked at any forks or frameworks (if there are any) that have been built on top of _s.
@userabuser Hi Thanks for your answer but still i am not able to do that i dont know what i am missing I put the code in archive.php in the loop..
		 <?php if ( get_post_meta($post->'p=93', 'pdf_link', true) ) : ?>

          <a href="<?php echo get_post_meta($post->'p=93', 'pdf_link', true) ); ?>">
          read more
          </a>

        <?php else : ?>

          <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>">
          read more
          </a>
        <?php endif; ?>
11:02
morning
very good morning
get_post_meta($post->ID, 'read_pdf', true)
your code is incorrect, the example I give is what you need
so i am supposed not to put anything in ID
@userabuser I was doing from there only
no.. your not supposed to touch $post->ID
that gets the post ID for each post displayed as dictated by the loop
I need to go out for a little bit, I'll be back if you are still struggling I will help you more
okay corrected, I made it as you have shown on the example still no luck might be i m putting this in wrong file
@userabuser Okay..
11:06
yes no doubt in wrong file
@userabuser Okay you go till i'll try index, archive and others
no luck surely I am doing some silly mistake.
weird one... getting Catchable fatal error: Object of class stdClass could not be converted to string but it's absolutely string - hardcoded and source and xdebug tells it's string...
11:40
stuck at the second part not able to connect both :|
can anyone help me?
12:03
EXTREMELY basic question.....almost embarrassed to even ask this....but anyway.....here goes. Lots of functions use "global $post". Is this saying, "There's a global variable out there, outside of this function called $post, go get that and we'll use it." or is it saying, "Lets create a global called $post" ?
@saltcod both
ack. It's always both
if there is no global $post var it is created by this statement.
which is why you shouldn’t do that
if ( empty ( $GLOBALS['post'] ) ) return; is slightly better.
the best option is to get the post as a regular parameter.
Know of a basic "$post for Beginners" ?
no
maybe I should write one …?
12:19
@saltcod More often than not you don't need to use global $post. As @toscho said its usually passed as a parameter, else you can use get_the_ID() to get it's ID.
help me please i am stuck confused
Don’t worry. Confusion is the natural state of every programmer.
I am no programmer even :|
@StephenHarris I've been seeing it around a fair bit lately and wondered what it was up to. If I used it, I certainly wouldn't' have know why =) I think its a fairly basic/essential thing that I'm missing though
@Pankaj then there is medication for that
12:23
@Brady medication wont let me face my boss ;|
@StephenHarris Thanks for your help with this yesterday too: wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/56088/… I left work just as you posted it and never got back to it last night. Thanks a million.
@Pankaj yes there is. There are drugs that make you braver :)
anyways can some one tell me about this wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/56048/…
I am not able to do 2nd part of the answer
the guy who helped is on run and need to solve this any how..
@Brady what kind of it is?
@saltcod no worries :)
@Pankaj Cocaine, Amphetamines, and Methamphetamine
12:28
@Pankaj Have you determined you're editing the right template?
12:43
@StephenHarris I am putting this where loop start i.e. in index,php
i tried putting this on archive.php also
but no luck
@Brady from where i get this?
should i make a function for this specific link ?
@Pankaj from your local pharmaceutical supplier.
@Brady they want to know specific name
@Pankaj ok, but are you viewing the index.php template?
@StephenHarris Yes i am on it right now
@Pankaj so inside the loop, if you put 'This is the index template' it appears? If so put this inside the loop:
12:49
let me explain you the situation in short

i am showing some post on my homepage there are some read more links(excepts)I need to open a pdf on one of some of them.
as answers told me i applied custom filed form after this nothing is working for me i tried putting the code index and archive one by one but it did not worked
var_dump(get_post_meta($post->ID, 'read_pdf', true));
@Pankaj I'm aware - but I'm trying to determine what the problem actually is - the answer solves that, but you're having difficulty still. First you need to determine you're editing the right page. Next is to determine if you can retrieve the post meta correctly.
and if i use the given answer just next to my title <?php
$query = new WP_Query(array('cat'=> '4', 'posts_per_page'=> '6', 'orderby'=>'modified', 'order'=>'DESC'));
while ($query->have_posts()) : $query->the_post();?>
<strong><?php the_title();?></strong> answering code..
it shows up perfectly just next to the title
@Pankaj ok, so now the post meta?
in this case there are 2 read more links one from this answer code and another from function's default read more
@Pankaj ah...
12:53
@StephenHarris when i click on that link which is just next to my title it goes to the pdf it means it's working fine
@Pankaj ok, that wasn't clear :). In that case, you should use the excerpt_more filter
@Pankaj In fact your theme is probably using it somewhere (functions.php). Alter the callback so that it either returns the standard 'read more' link or - if the PDF post meta exists - a link to that
first read more is due to just <?php
$query = new WP_Query(array('cat'=> '4', 'posts_per_page'=> '6', 'orderby'=>'modified', 'order'=>'DESC'));
while ($query->have_posts()) : $query->the_post();?>
<strong><?php the_title();?></strong>
<?php if ( get_post_meta($post->ID, 'read_pdf', true) ) : ?>

//replace read more link to value of read_pdf key if exists

<a href="<?php echo get_post_meta($post->ID, 'pdf_key', true) ); ?>">
read more
</a>

<?php else : ?>

//show normal read more link if no pdf attached.
@Pankaj Install the debug hook plugin and request your page like this: example.com/?hook=excerpt_more. This should tell you what filters are running on that hook.
now how can i get the pdf on second link not on first. first was just for testing purpose the code is working but not showing on second link ahhhh hope i am clear to everyone
I should die..:| else my senior will hang me today
@toscho I see will try this soon
13:39
@Pankaj Get it to work?
@userabuser yep at last have to ask my senior the mean one and he scold me and told me :|
infact I dont think so this is the right way its just alternative i guess now i have to style this read more again

he told me this
if ($post_ID == 93)
{
echo "<a href='".get_post_meta($post->ID, 'pdf_link', true)."'>Read More</a>";
the_excerpt();
}

else
{
the_excerpt(__('(more)'));
}
That will only show a link for a PDF file on POST with ID #93... what if you add more PDFs in the fututre? That will not cover it!
The code I provide you does the same thing essentially, but will work in any future instance where you might use a direct link to the PDF. That is the better solution because you are adding a useful feature instead of a restrictive feature based on a single post.
Personally I would advise against boxing yourself into a corner like that and instead use my example which offers you that flexibility. That should always be the ultimate goal with user-experience, to extend the usefulness of a feature so that it can apply to more than a single instance, when applicable and this is a case where its applicable.
    function twentyeleven_auto_excerpt_more( $more ) {
   	if ( get_post_meta($post->ID, 'read_pdf', true) ) {
    		echo '<a href="'.get_post_meta($post->ID, 'pdf_key', true) ) .'">read more</a>';
    	}
    	else
    	{
    		return ' &hellip;' . twentyeleven_continue_reading_link();
    	}
    }
    add_filter( 'excerpt_more', 'twentyeleven_auto_excerpt_more' );
13:59
@userabuser brother i applied your example only but i failed to find that page where i have to put this after loop..
Take the code above and replace the function starting on line 336 in your functions.php file
@userabuser I know this i told my senior to but being a senior mean you know the best and junior know's nothing kinda :|
I'm not sure what I can say, I've just given you two answers that will work. The first one (on the main site) is a general approach, the second one above now is for the twentyeleven theme specifically.
@userabuser I believe you more than my seniors
ok, so you don't need help anymore then?
14:06
@userabuser I am trying above code it throwing some errors
    function twentyeleven_auto_excerpt_more( $more ) {
   	if ( get_post_meta($post->ID, 'read_pdf', true) ) {
    		echo '<a href="'.get_post_meta($post->ID, 'pdf_key', true) .'">read more</a>';
    	}
    	else
    	{
    		return ' &hellip;' . twentyeleven_continue_reading_link();
    	}
    }
    add_filter( 'excerpt_more', 'twentyeleven_auto_excerpt_more' );
I had an extra ) on the third line
mistake
function twentyeleven_auto_excerpt_more( $more ) {
if ( get_post_meta($post->ID, 'pdf_link', true) ) {
echo '<a href="'.get_post_meta($post->ID, 'pdf_link', true) .'">read more</a>';
}
else
{
return ' &hellip;' . twentyeleven_continue_reading_link();
}
}
add_filter( 'excerpt_more', 'twentyeleven_auto_excerpt_more' );
i removed that code which was suggested by my senior and applied this on function.php now its again throwing errors on page.php I am too dumb in making changes
1 hour ago, by Pankaj
user image
i want to to get that pdf on bottom link the top one was created when i pasted your code just to the_title that above links goes to the pdf smoothly but how can i get this on bottom link and right now again it;s not working
@userabuser Thanks for your great help
:)
I'm trying to figure out how to get my excerpt to show up in twenty-eleven, I don't use that theme at all (ever)...
14:22
@userabuser Filter 'the_content' and return an excerpt if ! is_singular().
@toscho Eek, I need to filter the content in Twenty Eleven theme to get an excerpt to show? Thought that theme would do it out the box.
nope
		<?php if ( is_search() ) : // Only display Excerpts for Search ?>
		<div class="entry-summary">
			<?php the_excerpt(); ?>
		</div><!-- .entry-summary -->
		<?php else : ?>
		<div class="entry-content">
			<?php the_content( __( 'Continue reading <span class="meta-nav">&rarr;</span>', 'twentyeleven' ) ); ?>
			<?php wp_link_pages( array( 'before' => '<div class="page-link"><span>' . __( 'Pages:', 'twentyeleven' ) . '</span>', 'after' => '</div>' ) ); ?>
		</div><!-- .entry-content -->
		<?php endif; ?>
@toscho I was looking for some stupid theme option button within the theme... my first thought was to filter yeah...
but... seems I need to do what you just said.
Looking at TwentyEleven’s code makes me sick.
@Pankaj Based on what @toscho just said, did you actually modify your theme to show an excerpt in place of full-content?
14:25
@userabuser yes i did
@toscho Well bloody said.. which is why I've never used the thing.
@Pankaj Ahhhhhhhhhh! Which code block did you create/modify please.
something like removed the_content(); and place
the_excerpt();
@Pankaj I need to replicate what you have done so as not to create you something entirely different that would clash with what you've done.
from page.php
ok.. are you sure you want to do that on page.php?
page.php should be for reading full content
Unless its a custom template handling posts...
What URL are you viewing the post at in the screenshot above?
14:29
@userabuser I am sorry that changes i have done in content.php not in page.php my mistake

Q: Show Excerpts In Twenty Eleven Theme

PankajI just need to create a blog I have done everything i guess, its showing posts but they are supposed to be kind of summary first and after click the whole post. I already selected the "For each article in a feed, show summary" from reading option from dashboard I already activated the hidden op...

@userabuser I am working on my local system and just pasted screenshot above
i know... but the just the relative path
/category/post-title
its like project name/news-events/
news and events is category
@userabuser i'l join you after some time need to leave now
Hang on
I have solution for you...
14:36
okay okay I am here for a while
Undo the other function I told you to do on line 336 and instead replace the function on line 364 with...
function twentyeleven_custom_excerpt_more( $output ) {
	global $post;
   	if ( get_post_meta($post->ID, 'read_pdf', true) ) {
		echo '<a href="'.get_post_meta($post->ID, 'read_pdf', true) .'">read more</a>';
    	}
    	else
    	{
		if ( has_excerpt() && ! is_attachment() ) {
			$output .= twentyeleven_continue_reading_link();
		}
		return $output;
    	}
 }
add_filter( 'get_the_excerpt', 'twentyeleven_custom_excerpt_more' );
Done
Eek.. sorry about the code output there, bit messy.. Anyway this works. Remember to change the key from read_pdfif you use a different one!
@toscho Thanks for the clue in the damn P.O.S theme!!!
p.o.s :o?
piece of... you get the idea.
14:40
:D
Its code. I do not like it. One bit!
@userabuser It start showing the read more link but excerpt is gone
excerpt of the same section
and this is the right solution it will identify the pdf's if they are present and it will show them with out doing anything else thank you so much for great help
@userabuser Time to leave now will join you soon after reaching my palace ..

wp_trim_excerpt() sucks. Badly.
@Pankaj Instead use the following...
function twentyeleven_custom_excerpt_more( $output ) {

	global $post;

   	if ( get_post_meta($post->ID, 'read_pdf', true) ) {

		$output .= '<a href="'.get_post_meta($post->ID, 'read_pdf', true) .'">read more</a>';

    	}
    	else

				$output .= twentyeleven_continue_reading_link();
			}
			return $output;

    	}

}
add_filter( 'get_the_excerpt', 'twentyeleven_custom_excerpt_more' );
@toscho Yes it does suck!
8 rep points off 1000. Once I reach that I am retiring.
14:55
goes downvoting
lol should have kept my mouth shut
don't forget that when you reach this marker again next year
what, 2000 rep? ha.. I'm puzzled how some of you guys build some insane rep... respect.
no … 1000
bahaha
lol
14:59
But, really, it’s easy to make 1000 per month. Where is the problem?
ooo fancy...
I guess I need to answer far more questions really...
Not considering upvotes for instance I'd need to answer over 60 questions per month to get 1000 rep points, granted the more questions you answer the more snowball effect you receive from up votes
Does show some serious dedication from some of you guys which is great... ;)
saw that before, you are also #1 for top 5% in quarter (me 17th)
because I know all the little tricks and secrets
Rarst 31k rep
@toscho I vaguely remember you mentioned a couple not long ago but haven't found them in transcript ;)
15:08
1. Be the first. Especially on weekends people are grateful very fast.
2. Add code examples. Nothing beats copy & paste. People are lazy.
3. Use formatting: lists and headlines are rep magnets.
4. Screenshots. People _love_ to see pictures.
5. Useful links.
I pretty much do that anyway... habit really.. but good tips - didn't think of the 1st though
Answer fast, edit later until the answer is really good.
I tend to do that... pretty it up
Oh, and if you think your answer is really, really good, post links on Twitter and Google+.
@toscho oh, and give good answers :)
15:14
Ah really Toscho?
@StephenHarris Hadn't thought of that one tbh.
@userabuser don't blame you - doesn't actually work :)
An easy way to get rep without thinking: Go through old unanswered questions and read the comments. Sometimes the answer is hidden in a comment. Ask to move that to an answer, come back one week later and do it yourself.
Interesting indeed... how does that gain you rep? Just via upvotes? I avoided old questions because I wasn't sure the policy on digging up the past around here whether that was not recommended.
Speaking of abandoned questions that is...
@toscho hmm Ive been quiet lately

@StephenHarris Haha... I knew it.

Yes, you get upvotes. These answers are rarely accepted but that doesn’t matter.
@userabuser there's a limit of 200 rep per day ( bounties dont count )
rep off?
@TomJNowell Didn't know that either... still, 200 rep a day is good work.
@toscho How does Twiiter/G+ factor in? You're speaking of traffic to your Q&A thread netting you extra votes no doubt?
@userabuser This is highly encouraged. There is even a Revival badge for that.
@userabuser we have 14k users. There is a good chance some of your readers are already registered and drive by just to vote for your answer.
Also, edit the question you answered to make it really good visible on Google. And vote for that question! This is important.
Hmm.. clever..
and delete long comment threads. people don’t trust answers with lots of comments. Beeing a mod is quite handy here. :)
15:25
@userabuser once you start pushing it you'll find somedays you dont have to do anything and youll still reach 200 rep
@toscho Not sure I agree with deleting transcript that may otherwise contain useful information...
@userabuser Move the useful information into the answer first.
good point i guess
off topic? the question is valid for non-wp code too, right?
off topic yes, I flagged that
Well.. its more so that there is no right answer to that question
15:36
@userabuser the right answer is no. That is too short for our fine site.
Regarding reputation: Share what you just learned before you forget how hard you striggled to get something right. Use WPSE as your WordPress blog. Diana just started doing that. Nice!
what about if I do a screenshot of NO in photoshop?
@toscho yup - not specifically related to wordpress at all. But I thought the same about that which versions should I support question...
or more precisely should I support old versions of my plugins and wp
@StephenHarris Agree... Though, it seems to me that there is no other collective forum where questions of that nature can be asked around the Net. Hence why they tend to end up where.
@StephenHarris Yeah, but that was at least more WP specific because we have a similar problem with WP itself.
gray area

btw I wish we had a strict policy to close all slider questions.
They are almost always too localized.
That much I agree!
Very laborious to answer... as a result.

Imagine trying to explain to an Australian that your name is Emma Chizzit. They would think you are saying How much is it?
LOL! Funny because I'm from Oz. Gonna use that joke mate good one!
@all I don't suppose anyone knows how to view the revisions history of a specific line in hg?
@Wyck I know PhpStorm can do it so probably there is command for it...
@userabuser I know a few bad aussie jokes :)
@Brady Got a laugh out of me :)
16:33
@Rarst ah found it, at least in tortoise, you can search history for line and then view changeset
@Wyck it [rpbably works on top of diff, can't google anything for precisely lines
BBC News: An ultra-light plane has crashed into a Ferris wheel in a village north of Sydney, trapping four people, Australian officials say.

Some people dream of being a pilot, others simply fail to see the attraction.
I could not find the proper command, ended up using the gui
good one mate lol
17:17
Hybrid Core alpha went GPLv2+, yay for combining with Bootstrap!

Q: Definitive list of WordPress books

RarstI've been thinking about what other large community wiki post site can benefit from. Questions about books come up all the time and I think it will be beneficial to have one large list to consolidate available literature on WordPress. Please include: title author(s) (preferably with links and ...

Trying to return the top-most page in a list of hierarchal pages. Can I use wp_list_pluck and wp_list_pages together?
wp_list_pluck(wp_list_pages) =)
@Rarst it is out of date so fast
@toscho I think long term it fails as "polling" question... as far as I remember book lists where closed on SO last year
close it
done
17:56
I object!
closing your own question is fun. I have done the same recently. :)
@userabuser you object! :)
hehe
i->object
three-digit-user’s voices don’t count

suspended for using multiple exclamation marks. rep reset to 1 … beep

What do you have to do to become a UK citizen?
@all is it possible get_posts() to mess with main query?
18:14
@saltcod no, wp_list_pluck only works for arrays of array/object where you are trying to pluck a particular key/property
@Sisir nope :)
@StephenHarris i don't know. looks like its happening to me :-/
query_posts is for that, but why would you want to do that?
in what way?
@StephenHarris Didn't think so =)
@Sisir it really really can't :). It doesn't change any of the globals - it just performs a query.
@saltcod Assuming you know the hierarchical tree of pages you want the top most parent from you could use get_post_ancestors
the top most parent is returned as the last value in the array
that ought to do it for you, along with something like $top_parent = array_pop($array_of_ids) or even something simpler like echo end($array_of_ids);

sup yall
