No one still have any idea why I can't save widgets? None of my left sidebar widgets are saved, as if I never added them. This is frustrating...

I really just assumed they were going to add new widget, replacing any existing one looks like a bad idea a mile out
and they seem intent to repeat the feat replacing editor next...

@JackJohansson what kind of widgets are you using that break with 4.8?!
this with standard core widgets?
no trac ticket?
@TomJNowell Hey! Yes just core widgets. Imagine adding a widget (text, calendar, anything), saving it, and then Poof! you refresh the page and it's not there. The sidebar is totally empty. However the other sidebar works, and both used to work before 4.8.
what's it named?
and can you reproduce in isolation?
e.g. default WP empty theme, sidebar registered in functions.php
photogram-left-sidebar is not working, photogram-right-sidebar is working.
No it's a theme i developed myself
If i do a clean install, it works. But on the live website, it doesn't.
I have to type the widgets myself directly in the database to work.

I'd have to see code to investigate
Sure. What part of it?
the entire confection
but I presume you've already done the usual js console checks and query monitor, error logs stuff
obviously. debug is on, no error in php log or browser.
The table is cleared in db when i save.
add_action( 'widgets_init', 'photogram_widgets_init' );
function photogram_widgets_init() {
	register_sidebar( array (
		'name'          => __( 'Left sidebar', 'photogram' ),
		'id'            => 'left-sidebar',
		'description' => __( 'Widgets dragged here will appear in the left sidebar.', 'photogram' ),
		'before_widget' => '<aside id="%1$s" class="widget %2$s">',
		'after_widget'  => '</aside>',
		'before_title'  => '<h5 class="widget-title"><span>',
		'after_title'   => '</span></h5>'
	) );
See, i register them in the exact same way. one works, one not.
does the issue go away if you turn on accessibility mode?
haven't tried that. Just a moment.
Hah! That's funny. It does work. It seems like WP fails to send the save response via ajax.
you may have AJAX handlers that interfere with it for all you know
in those cases I recommend using a REST API endpoint
but purely speculative
assuming the save AJAX req gets sent
I only use 1 ajax handler that has unique prefix, so...
the others are handled via REST
You know what's more funny? after i did enable and then disable accessibility, it fully works now.
sounds like something needed clearing out
glad I could be of service
Thanks Mr.Mayor! Problem solved!
@TomJNowell Just one final question plz. Do mods have access to extra search tools? or is there any advanced search way? because I can't find these answers that mods recommend in 10 secs, no matter the effort.

I use google
Alright then, tnx

Gentlemen... is it ok if I edit a lot of old questions/answers in a short time? like 20 in half an hour? I do this when the traffic is minimum, but I'm still wondering if I'm actually messing with the newly asked questions on homepage.

if the questions meaning doesn't change then I would say it's ok
