What happen to review queue this morning?

Can anyone give me an idea on this, say I have a field with a image location(uploads/img.jpg) and say I have a lot of posts that have this image location as field with different images, would there be an easy way to tell WP to use the location and use the image as featured image on each post(Opposed to selecting an image on each post)
@DavidH like a default/backup thumbnail image?
Sort of yes.
I imported this CSV from a regular database, inserted the data in custom fields and that went well
Though there are image locations in the CSV.
So I was wondering if there would be an easier way to make WP use the location and select the image through the location in one of the fields
those image are they also imported as media files? Or just as custom fields?
Also as media files as well as custom fields, but the problem would be that say there are 200 posts, i'd need to select the right image on each post
Featured image info is also saved on postmeta. You could just import the media file then update the featured image field with the attachement id
meta key is _thumbnail_id. You can setup the code like this update_post_meta($post_id, '_thumbnail_id', $attachment_id) inside a loop to automate featured image selection

Oh right
Thanks!

@toscho O_O what amazes me is that dude actually lasted that long under such conditions
Probably he wanted his article to be long enough :)
interesting that pattern goes "used to be good until it didn't"
there are usually horrible hosts that stay horrible and decent hosts that stay decent
would need to try something new to take decent hosts and make it horrible
@Rarst indeed. I would switch the host after 3 days
I migrated couple sites from WP Engine while back. their backups didn't include uploads. peculiar approach :)
oh, that’s nasty
10:13
maybe I didn't figure it out and they handle uploads separately somehow, but the daily snapshots didn't (which I would never assume to be the case)
never trust host with backups
the daily backup on uberspace is complete.
I hadn't even looked what SiteGround does :)
looks ok, they just make 300+MB snapshot of my home folder :)
10:58
Not letting user with low rep to comment sometimes lead to this :/
@Sisir happens 20 times per day, just flag it, we will remove it.
11:10
@toscho This should be stickied, if only favorites could be!
they can be :)
oh they can?
use your god like powers
before some other poor soul wastes their money
nah, it's faved enough and it's not like there are a lot of people passing through here

Meet Make for WordPress. Drag and drop. Build your website. Download it for free: https://thethemefoundry.com/wordpress-themes/make/
rare free drag and drop theme, we discussed the topic couple times :)
ignoring the theme industry, who in this chat has their own implementations?
too JS for me and I don't have clients needing it. or many clients in general. :)
15:40
@TomJNowell I do.. but its seriously messed up. Shifting to using Gridster as my base as of now
oh and I should mention mine D&D is page level/post editor.. the one above seems it does more? dont know...
are you using one?
I've one of my own creation
what's gridster?
gridster JS
look it up
hmm I remember that now, but the blocks are positioned absolutely?
nothing I can easily build using a standard css grid system

> one example is what we call “WPEngineX” which is our own customer module to nginx (our front-end web server technology) in which we do WordPress-specific traffic shaping wpengine.com/2014/05/21/growth-hard
WP-specific traffic shaping?..
I think the bullshit had just peaked there...
19:13
Any clue why ONE random post just doesn't load anything? Completely white blank page. Viewing source shows nothing too. Works fine while logged in, but logged out. White screen. debugging is enabled, and nothing seems to be wrong.
dump post object
@Rarst That's odd. When I dump the post, everything renders fine after the dump.
Why would that effect it
then something is screwing up current post in loop
I smell a query_posts() somewhere.
I use WP_Query(); for everything.
I just don't understand why it's only effecting one post, when the rest are totally fine.
19:43
It must have been bad markup or something. I recopied and pasted as plain text and it works now.
Must have been pasted from somewhere online inheriting their markup

@leftlane @pippinsplugins @wpengine For the *community*? Stack Exchange.
20:18
is marketing at wordcamps seriously the greatest thing around? o_0
it must be, it is expensive.
20:50
Oh, and anyone who thinks sponsoring WordCamps is just a marketing ploy has obviously never done so. Just saying. #wedoitoforlove
passive-aggressive for love
since love is sufficient all that swinging logos around is unnecessary then?
My employer pays and manages the German WordPress sites, including a high-traffic forum. And dozens of free plugins. WP engine bragging around is so inappropriate …
I am fuzzy if that is actually their employee, doesn't seem to be
but their "growth" post earlier been high on brag for sure
yes
at first I thought that might just be a cultural difference, because no German company would mix bragging with an apology.
21:00
it's not, it's an attitude issue
there are people in US who are extremely competent at handling apologies, when Prelovac screwed up they had to have their US someone to handle it
but there are plenty people everywhere who twist apologizing into "we are awesome, what's your problem"
21:42
Guy really likes WPE.
indeed
most people prefer advertisings for products they own already.
not to mention a lot of people with visibility make money on affiliate marketing
That might be a good rule: avoid hosting companies with an affiliate program.
all of them?
yes
21:46
no, I mean that would be all of them :)
let me guess, uberspace? :)
lol
are they still not translated into english? :)
21:48
the docs are in German, but the support speaks English too
but the docs are awesome, I have no idea how to get along without them
