A lot would depend on the purpose of reading, @Educ. Especially if it is course work for your studies then reading the actual short stories is the best option to properly understand the various dimensions. Whereas these notes will help you to make sense of various literary aspects.

One of my cousins who studied only the notes and did not read the actual literature struggled to satisfy his teachers that he properly understood the course material! If it is not part of course work then you can choose to read it now or later.
