Ok something went wrong so we are going to lose answer data... Good thing we're not live yet!
Anonymous
Luckily I have a backup
Anonymous
But backup can't be used b/c incompatible columns
Anonymous
Oh well, make new answers
00:24
getting gateway timeout, is this celery again
Anonymous
Yeah
Anonymous
It's because I'm rapid-firing hotfixes
oh ok
I feel like the search indexing is eating up all memory I'll have to modify it to do it in batches
Anonymous
@Downgoat Not really - our memory usage has been pretty constant around 60%, this last hour notwithstanding
Anonymous
Ok site should be stable now
02:26
posts are taking unusually long time to load
this is happening:

axtell is not loading now I feel like this is due to search indexing I'll push a commit removing it for now and we can add it back after i push a fix

Rather than use JSX I think I am going to probably move frontend templates to like handlebars and compile that
Anonymous
@Downgoat Handlebars is gross though
@Mego :| reasons/alternatives?
generally I use pug
but handlebars has more bells and whistles
The problem is I can’t efficiently pre-compile jinja templates
And if I could they’d be widely incompatible as JS doesn’t have access to app server vars
Anonymous
I don't like Handlebars because it tries to be like Mustache, which is weak and a pain to use
Anonymous
04:18
@Downgoat Did I miss anything? github.com/Axtell/Axtell/pull/220
@Mego looks good
Anonymous
04:31
Ok so I think we should be back to not-broken
05:53
lemme try to manually index locally

@Downgoat Can you add an encoding selection thingy to the answer modal?
14:29
posted on September 01, 2018 by Mego

This causes answers to be encoded always using UTF-8, which causes incorrect decoding and byte counts

4 hours later…
18:07
@Mego sure, do we have an endpoint providing all encodings?
and speaking of encodings/languages, I think we should move languages to the DB so we can have user-provided languages
19:05
ok i made some more high quality professional mockups:
representing I think a better way to manage challenges
for answer dialog i am thinking of keeping the same just making it bigger
and also adding newer constraint UIs
we should also normalize encoding names
Anonymous
19:41
@Downgoat No, but I can make one
Anonymous
Working on answer permalinks rn tho
@Mego oh ok, sure. I'll get started on better answer UI w/ commentary + encodings then
Anonymous
19:57
@Downgoat How should I handle scrolling to the right answer with a permalink?
@Mego if it's loaded on the page just add to the URL #answer-ANSWER_ID
Anonymous
20:13
Alright I think it works
@Mego Does ordering by the hybrid attribute not work?
Anonymous
@Downgoat ?
Anonymous
Also apparently psuh is not a git command
@Mego Answer.query.order_by(desc(Answer.score))
because don't we use score to do answer sorting?
Anonymous
20:25
It does work - why do you think it doesn't?
oh wait im stupid sorry just ignore me >_<

Merging it in now

Let's see what fresh hell awaits us
Anonymous
awesome— I'll add frontend buttons for links soon
oh does it gobble the hash after redirect crap
Anonymous
Sweet
Anonymous
@Downgoat ?
@Mego in the url_for we should use _anchor=f'answer-{answer.id}'
oh wait actually I don't thnk that'll fix it
@Mego btw how did u migrate the answer table with binary_code because when I run alembic locally it seems to hang
Anonymous
@Downgoat Very poorly
Anonymous
20:48
In that I mean I accidentally deleted all answers

Anonymous
The intention was to do something like for answer in answers: answer.binary_code = answer.code.encode(answer.encoding) but I messed it up bad
oh >_<
21:02
@Mego lol I was just about to ask why all answers disappeared
21:15
@Mego btw just realized ur not part of the analytics dashboard so i have invited the [email protected] user to it
