holy shit i just saw 〼 in the wild
i totally forgot that even existed in the like four years since i found out about it
04:14
@UnrelatedString what did you find?
as a cheeky abbreviation of ます
Trout?
i have no idea what that fish is actually
aside from it probably being relatively fatty...?
don't even know what the hell のって〼 means in this context lmao
Noun: 〼(ます) • (masu)
  1. alternative typography of 枡: a traditional masu square measuring cup
TIL
i actually somehow found out about it before i even remotely started learning japanese

@Memor-X Do you realize who that is?
alas, I came here for something else.
I think I know who the author is, but it was unsourced where I found it.
Nope, Google only finds the usual booru sites.
I though it was something from her - twitter.com/hanavbara
Doremi magic wand replica available on AmiAmi if someone is interested.
09:12
@SPArcheon Who's "©HN"?
"copyrighted <handle name>"?
Danbooru at least mentioned the artist "HN" and has links to their profiles on danbooru.donmai.us/artists/157624
@AndrewT. Same copyright on at least one pic too
yeah, the image is on Pixiv: pixiv.net/en/artworks/92045943
@AndrewT. oh, you are right - there is a small signature near the hair. Didn't even notice it. Alas, since google lookup mostly tracked the image to booru sites, I didn't look into the name of the author. Don't want to stumble on "draws very well, its is actually nswf most of the time" artists.
very understandable :)

Q: Did Yoshihiro Togashi make an agreement that in the event of his passing, nobody would be allowed to complete Hunter x Hunter?

Marsha SkyI've recently heard a rumor suggesting that Yoshihiro Togashi has some form of agreement that, in the event of his passing, nobody else would be allowed to complete 'Hunter x Hunter.' Has anyone else come across this claim? Additionally, I've been curious about Togashi's intentions for the contin...

@SPArcheon no. who is it?
@Memor-X I knew I already saw that face, so I reverse searched it.
Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister! (Japanese: お兄ちゃんはおしまい!, Hepburn: Onii-chan wa Oshimai!, lit. 'Older Brother Is Done For!') is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nekotofu. The series has been serialized online since 2017; it is also currently serialized in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Rex magazine since April 2019. It is licensed in English by Kodansha USA. An anime television series adaptation by Studio Bind aired from January to March 2023; it gained high ratings, although it received a mixed reception from critics. == Plot == The series follows Mahiro Oyama, an otaku and NEET who lives...
It is the story of a BOY drinking a potion made by his sister by mistake and turning into a GIRL.
Never watched it, refer to the wikipedia page for some of the potential issues it has.
That's just to say that technically the two characters in the picture are brother and sister.
(unless the sister is the one in the background, I don't really know)
12:57
@SPArcheon they are, indeed
I watched the anime, and can confirm
@JNat Based on this picture...
there seem to be two characters with similar air styles.
right, my bad
they are not siblings
In @Memor-X picture the one in the front is the bottom one, the one in the back is the top one. I think the sister is the top one
the sister has red tones in her hair
the pic above has blue tones
they are those 2
@JNat Isn't the sister the one with the C shaped hairpin? so the one in the back in Memor-X pic
13:05
@SPArcheon the older sister here is the one with the red hairpiece
13:19
@SPArcheon The science girl made the potion the brother drank. The background character is wearing science stuff. I didn't watch enough to know who the girl in the suit holding the MC is.
@Peilonrayz Exactly, that was my guess to.
13:37
@SPArcheon the girl holding the MC in Mem's pic is the one in front of the character "wearing science stuff" in this pic. The one with the blue shirt over the brown t-shirt
they form kind of a couple on the show
13:52
@JNat see above Peilonrayz reply. I originally assumed the MC sister was the one holding her in Memor-X picture but that is not the case. The sister is the one in the background in Memor picture and the one wearing the white lab coat in mine.
Recognizable in both by the yellow C shaped hairpin and the red side ribbon
@SPArcheon oh, I hadn't noticed anyone on the background in Mem's pic
whenever y'all said "the one in the background" I thought you were referring to your pic
@SPArcheon this is all correct, yes
the one wearing the suit is... well, what I already said
17 mins ago, by JNat
@SPArcheon the girl holding the MC in Mem's pic is the one in front of the character "wearing science stuff" in this pic. The one with the blue shirt over the brown t-shirt
@JNat "brown t-shirt" is today the day I find out I'm colour blind? Her hair is brown, her t-shirt is grey (the star on the t-shirt is a lighter grey).
@Peilonrayz heh, sure, grey works. I'd say it has brownish tones, but... xD
we're talking about the same char, tho, yeah
no, ok
I zoomed in
it's fully grey, yes
@Peilonrayz Yep, that was part of me not understanding what JNat was talking about until the last message.
orz
14:07
@JNat and that was the other reason too :P
well, we got there eventually xD
hopefully someone also knows WHY this was made ^
14:22
@SPArcheon Ah, the JJBA colour pallet. anime.stackexchange.com/q/37900
@Peilonrayz nope, totally wrong.
the choice here has a precise reason that ties in to the original manga.

Q: Is there any specific reason behind Lum's eye color being different in the Urusei Yatsura 2022 remake?

SPArcheonIn the 2022 remake of Urusei Yatsura, Lum is given red/orange eyes. In the original version of the anime/manga, she always had blue eyes. It's a well-known fact that the hair color "change" thru the original 1981 serie is indeed deliberate - Lum was always intended to have rainbow-like, multic...

relevant read.
14:43
Is her name being Lum (written in katakana) meant to be a reference to the Latin word lumen?
15:00
@Peilonrayz Some art guys claim it is a reference to a bikini model called Agnes Lum. IMHO that is quite stupid.
Far simpler to think that Lum is actually "Rum" -> "Rumiko Takahashi", the author.
15:11
Yeah, I don't really see the Agnes Lum connection. I guess the Rumiko Takahashi would make sense
@Peilonrayz something about the bikini apparently. As I said, nonsense mostly.
Furthermore, it is not even you can claim Lum appearance is based on Agnes either since she is a recurring face in Rumiko works.
Most blatant case being Shampoo in Ranma

@SPArcheon i still can't whether or not y'all actually sorted it out but yeah no while both of them (momiji and mahiro) do have sisters mihari is just in the background and kaede isn't there at all
@UnrelatedString I think we already emotional scared poor @Memor-X as they discovered that the girl was actually a boy turned into a girl.
if there's a problem with the image it's that they still appear to be in middle school :p

Q: Manhwa younger sister trying not to get killed by older brother

MedeaI read this manhwa one time a lot but I seem to have forgotten the title name. The mc is a young girl with blonde hair and purple/pink eyes and a t mark on her face like a scar. Her older brother has long black hair and red eyes and the plot is essentially she is trying to avoid being killed by h...
