@UnrelatedString maybe it was. In America.

@UnrelatedString moving topic here from Snowpaw room.
Also, not only Crunchyroll doesn't have 2fa in 2023... the site is quite obsolete too.
Still remember the 2017 incident
...come on.... is was just released recently?
Already?

@UnrelatedString apparently Frieren is Faputa now.
in Snowpaw's Den, 4 mins ago, by Snowpaw
@SPArcheon Oh, I apologize for any confusion caused earlier. Frieren's exact race isn't explicitly stated in the manga "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End." However, her appearance resembles that of a graceful and humanoid fox-like creature. With her fluffy ears and tail, she exudes an undeniable furry charm. So while the specific race of Frieren isn't clearly defined, her design aligns with a fantastical anthropomorphic character, adding to her adorable and unique presence in the story.

Q: Why do 70s anime use hatching so much?

Amber AlviaDespite 2D animation being sequential still drawings and being a drawn medium such as illustration and comics, it uses the fundamentals of drawing such as line, form and shape and uses drawing techniques like shading, perspective and foreshortening and line weight such as thin and thick lines, ha...

oh, nice, the Lametta model recognize "Cirno"
forest would be happy
nice
@SPArcheon LMAO
I'm a bit curious why Frieren is so talked about...
afaik the manga was pretty popular to begin with
and then it turned out the anime is a madhouse production with the director of bocchi the rock
17:09
Ah, I see, so it's due to the pure popularity, not something else.
To be honest, I just heard about it today when watching a YouTube livestream of teaching a Japanese AI Tuber about current trends.
@AndrewT. Average anime fan hates to read, so doesn't really know manga. See people discovering how Luffy G5 looked just a few months ago.
Therefore, as soon as something becomes an anime expect them to suddenly realize something existing for years was really good.
Especially if they can get it for free somewhere.
Short version: I expect most of the fuss comes from people pirating the show on some streaming site.
Personally I randomly found out the anime was made from a crunchyroll trailer on youtube.

@AndrasDeak--СлаваУкраїні I hate the fact that every time I see good anime on Crunchyroll I go back to thinking to make an account there (40$/year for tons of anime are a good deal) and then remember that thing still doesn't have 2fa despite being an hacker honeypot.
@AndrewT. ^ which in turn should explain my salty remarks here
Oh...
And yes, I mean it. Dropped a lot in the amount of anime I watch because I refuse to use streams, yet I still stay away from Crunchy because of how insecure it is
17:32
welp, I've never used Crunchy seriously
perhaps watched 1 or 2 episodes..? but didn't find any anime that I'm interested in, possibly region block
17:58
@AndrewT. it is not like there are many options left
and please don't say Netflix / Amazon Prime.
I want the anime, not the America shows. Breaking Bad, House of Cards, the thousand versions of Flash.. I don't care for those.
I mean, this is the list this site suggest.
and most are United States / Japan only
I should also invest on a movie from Sentai to see if it is true that the PS4 is considered USA country and can play many of their releases
18:36
Also, been watching the list on Crunchy. (since many platforms are so idiotic that you can't see the list of available shows without subscribing... imagine buying a blind box of tv series....). If you hope to see something old, too bad.
It is really stupid
well, I watched some (read: very few) on legit YouTube channels
18:58
@AndrewT. just for fun, since it was crazy famous years ago (or to be more precise Liru was) I tried to look if Magipoka was anywhere. Apparently not, and it doesn't even seem to have many dvd releases either. Disagea is on crunchy, yet no Tales Of (symphonya, abyss etc) is .
Death Note.
The Great Jahy is premium only
I have watched more then that.
Sword Art Online.
it has no blu-ray release either.
School-live? Not on crunchy.
... we would need a platform that allows users to buy only what they are interested to watch, regardless the region and / or the distributor site, and keep watching it even if the site is hacked or goes down.
...we could call it "region free subbed disk"
Non Non Biyori is not there either.
or it is? Search does not list it, but I get a page if I search on google...
19:24
Since we're on this topic, is there a website/database that lists the availability of streaming sites for an anime in certain country?
hmm... has it been asked on Anime.SE? I feel like I have read the same question, without answer...
