@UnrelatedString Yeah, I would love to know more about the original language versions' choice of words. With regards to the manga for Watamote and Komi Can't Communicate, the English translation uses "communication disorder" (it is used frequently throughout in Komi, but comes very late in Watamote, and not very often). And I remember the subtitles for the anime of Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu using "social anxiety".

in komi and presumably watamote the "communication disorder" is a literal translation of コミュ症, which i can't recall having heard in btr
