Q: ANIME FIGURES BUSINESS IDEA

AnimefromResinANIME BUSINESS IDEA I am looking into starting a business, selling Anime figures of Top anime series like Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and other Top anime figures, did a lot of research and found that I need the original Japanese studio's approval for selling as these are copyrighted characters ...

@Sakamoto Not an anime thing, but the question could oddly be salvaged if you move it to Laws and make it about the Japanese / Usa regulations on Garage Kits figures.
I think that at least under Japanese laws you can have some actually legal scenarios like the existing laws for fan comics?

mumble... wikipedia mentions "single day license", basically "we will look the other way", for garage kits sold at anime events and such.
Seems like it is a mess anyway.
Selling unlicensed garage kits means that you aren't respecting law. Giants will probably avoid meddling if you just sell an hundred figures but either way you would be violating copyright.
Licensed garage kit means that you probably would use the one day license granted by some event (that can do that because of specific agreements with anime studios) - again only works for small volume
if you want to go big, then you have to buy licenses and I doubt any anime studio would be interested in a "by number sold" agreement. Thus, large initial investment.
furthermore you have to consider that your models will be stolen.
or to be more precise, others will try to sell fakes of your figures
Big companies like Megahouse, Kotobukiya, Max Factory, Good Smile... they can't find a way to prevent that and many sites are plagued by fakes. Even Amazon is far west.
So you would have to get sold on a site like Ami Ami.
Which probably is not interested to make a deal with a small figure studio.
Yep, good luck, seems a very funny way to make money with your hobby but must be a real mess....
And market is moving simply too fast...
