Hi @DanielRigg, yes I want to see where I can help. But as I said before, I actually have no idea how we can do it concretely.
Maybe we can start off with specifics, like what exactly you want. Do you want a manga course? Or something more specific to that? Or something else?
02:38
@Keale I just want a manga teacher from Japan for a course. Can you help contact one for me please?
So you'll be studying here in Japan?
no not like that
Unfortunately, I do not know any manga teachers.
Oh, you want an online course?
You want a course from a manga teacher from Japan right? If you will not be studying here, then what you want is an online course?
@Keale its like this:I want a manga teacher to create a course how I want it
You want to create course? So it is not you that will be doing the learning? Hmm...
02:45
no I said I want manga teacher to create the kind of course I want
please contact a manga teacher
Sorry, I might be misundertanding you. Can I clarify some things first? When you say 'course' you mean it like a course that can be taken on universities and the like?
I do not know any manga teachers, but I'm thinking that maybe we can get some contact details from universities and start from there
its like something to be sent to me by email when a manga teacher has created the course
I thought you are offering to help me so please help already
hello?
You say it's something to be sent by email. Hmm so you are looking for something like a tutorial, or some other kind of quick reference material from a manga teacher? If it's from a manga teacher, I assume it has something to do with manga, specifically with drawing one?
that's right
Let's get on common ground first, since I don't fully understand your request.
And as I have said before, I do not know any manga teachers personally.
But I want to see what I can do
02:55
you don't have to know who you just need to contact from manga school
@Keale Please help because I struggled trying to find a manga teacher and I still couldn't get one
@Nick Tea and biscuits?

@Keale hey?
If you just want some tutorial or reference material, maybe you can just get some from a nearby bookstore? I assume that, since you're asking here, that option was not possible. i.e. there are none on nearby bookstores. Why do you want it from a Japanese manga teacher?
It might sound that I'm not trying to help, but I wanted to consider other options first.
There might be better and easier ways than contacting a manga teacher directly.
@Keale no I said want a manga teacher and you offered to help me
If you don't want help me
Ugh. Really?
...
03:10
lol what
What is a "manga teacher" anyway?
I don't know. Where did I go wrong? I feel like it's an x-y problem so I was diagnosing it as such
I don't even know what was happening.
what i understood today it was that Daniel Rigg was looking to get in contact with a Teacher to design a tailor made Manga Course (i assume Manga creation and Design Course) for them to do
@Keale It looks like Daniel wants personalized help given to him by somebody from Japan to teach him to draw manga, and thought you may have contacts that would enable him to find somebody.
So he wants a personalized tutorial?
I thought I said that I didn't know anyone personally.
03:17
@Keale No, a personal tutor. So yeah, you can't offer him the help he wants.
Oh man. This is a reason why I only lurk on places like these :)
My social skills are zero hahaha
@Keale Welcome to the club my friend! ^_^
Hahahaha thanks
to be honest i thought the request was going to be looking for an interpreter
Well, at the very least, the links linked before have ways to contact them. For Nihon Kogakuin Colleague their email is: [email protected]. For Kyoto Seika University, it's [email protected].
03:31
@Memor-X Does the main website have any questions regarding how people start formal academic training to learn how to draw anime or manga?
@Tonepoet i feel as if that'll fall under the asking questions on how to make your own manga
@Memor-X Hmm, probably. It seems like there would be a broadly applicable process specific to the industry though. Hmm...
@Tonepoet yeh, generally the way around it is to ask about the industry in general rather than how the asker themselves can do thing
ie. "how do i start to sell manga" VS "how to mangaka start out selling their manga"
totally not on purpose but take this one
20
Q: How does a mangaka get paid?

Memor-XFrom what I have seen from anime and heard, doujinshi artists get paid per book they sell at places like Comiket or online, but you have some mangaka who release one chapter per issue of serialized magazines like Shounen Jump and Comic Yuri Hime. So, how does a mangaka get paid for their work? D...

if it was worded "how do i make money off manga" it would be off-topic
but "How does a mangaka get paid?" would give almost the same information
Hmm, that's such a subtle difference. I guess it's good to know if I ever write a question here, however unlikely that may be.
@Tonepoet when you come up with good Touhou Doujin ideas you want to sell lol
03:46
@Memor-X Pppbt, if it's a Touhou Doujinshi it'll sell itself, isn't that right @forest?
Yup.
Somebody call a manga teacher please
@DanielRigg I'm not even sure what you're asking for.
Do you want to learn how to draw manga or something?
yeah but I want a manga teacher from japan to teach me
Are you willing to actually pay for lessons?
03:54
yes!
so please call a manga teacher for me!
someone please call a manga teacher!!
Why don't you want to call them yourself?
@Daniel_Rigg I hate to be discouraging, and perhaps I'm even wrong, but I sincerely doubt anybody here has the connections to help you get what you want any better than you could yourself. We're more like Star Trek nerds than industry pros.
I don't think you even need connections. I'm sure an online search could do it.
And besides, we can't personally contact them, since that will potentially leak some personal information
That's why I gave the email addresses so you can contact them yourself
Yeah, @Tonepoet is right. There is only so much that random internet strangers can do for you
We can only point you where to go
@Keale I don't understand why you said you'II help me with this
04:01
he didn't actually
yesterday, by Memor-X
@Keale oh hey now i can confirm we still have someone in japan here. might be able to help Daniel Rigg
@Memor-X then bring him here!!
Help is a broad and subjective word. From my point of view, we are already helping you here
following from there you can see he says he might be able to help. just like how the best we non-japanese speakers/people can do is being remember who is in japan and who speaks it
(sorry if i got your gender wrong @Keale)
@DanielRigg Why do you want this so urgently?
Lol it's ok I identify myself as a ninja
04:05
@forest I struggle finding manga teachers
So why so much urgency?
Why not just look online without freaking out about it?
@forest because I already tried so I needed all of you to help me
@Memor-X I said bring him here to me
@Keale use the Shadow Clone, would greatly boost the help
@DanielRigg @Keale is here
or if you mean face to face, that's impossible
@Memor-X you said someone from japan that is not Keale
Why do they have to be from Japan?
04:09
@DanielRigg oh......hmmmm. they might come here, i don't know. i can ask but i can't force them to join SE Chat
@Memor-X who is this person from japan who can help?if you know who he is then tell him to come here
@DanielRigg they are in japan, they speak japanese, they might know something i don't know. if they do it will still be entirely up to them if they want to come here
@Memor-X I am waiting for you to bring him here to me
I don't think he's some kind of servant who can just be summoned at will...
@DanielRigg yeh and currently i am at work so i am not entirely focused on this and they have a job too so they may not get back to me still much later (Japan happens to be a couple hours behind Australia)
04:13
@forest I thought you're all trying to help me here
I mean we can try to help but we can't just summon people at will.
@forest *summons Homua at will* oh wait we're not supposed to be doing this?
I am sick and tired of struggling all over trying to find a manga teacher from Japan once and for all I am getting a manga teacher
04:16
@Tonepoet and ofcause the Fate reference that Shirou summons Saber to him at will as he's falling from a 3rd story window
@DanielRigg Do you live in Japan?
And do you know Japanese?
How much money are you willing to pay?
Because there are plenty of art schools with manga teachers in the world.
But you may have to go to Japan if you want the most "authentic" education.
But that also means you'd need to know Japanese.
@forest stop it!! I can't go there
How come?
If you really need a 100% authentic education, you likely need to.
04:22
@forest memor-X said he has someone who can help me so theres no need those
Well I don't think he can help you in the way you want.
He might be able to provide references but if you think he'll meet you IRL and give you free one-on-one manga lessons for years, you have another think coming.
@forest I don't even want to listen to you you trying make it sound hopeless for me
I'm just telling the truth.
Why not learn manga on your own or from online guides?
You don't need a teacher to practice.
You don't need to be rude you know.
No one will help you if you're like that.
ok, they were online and was just speaking to them (i leave for a bit and the tables get up-ended? we don't have HoiHoi to clean up for us you know)
anyway. they don't know anyone
04:49
here's the problem i see with this and this is just how i am reading it

you are asking for someone in japan to contact a teacher who teaches manga (creation?) to tutor you. now this has 2 problems

1) the tutor will very likely be japanese and fair to assume speaks japanese
2) the course work will be in japanese

next. i know of how 1-on-1 tutoring has worked in the passed when education was confined to physical locations and while i have an idea of eCourses and 1-on-1 consultations. in the past when Earl Grey used to come here you was asking how to draw manga better so i suspect that the
> There are plenty things to consider of making a manga, first, story, second, art, and third, how to actually make a full use of the panels and dialogue balloon. Mind you I'm oversimplified this, you know how hard it is to make a story. For art it self, you need to know the better angle, how to make static drawing looked move, how to make effect, etc. And of course the panel and page placement it self is another thing << I personally think this is the hardest part. I can only make 4koma.
now i assume (and i apologize if i have this wrong) that you don't know japanese. either read, write, hear or speak it. this would be a major hurdle with a japanese tutor and so i get the feeling that looking for someone here to contact a teacher will just turn them into an interpreter to translate what the teacher says to you at the least. aside from the course i would not suggest assuming someone will do this for free

Q: Trying to find vocoloid music for Hastune miku Japanese music

Ninajgo0321Well this song was when she would start singing and walk toward you with her arms down I know only a couple words of the lyric it goes te ame and yeah that’s all I know

05:11
now some images with casual yuri mixed in to bring chat back into order
イリヤ
@Memor-X This is from SSSS.Gridman! :3
@Keale oh is it?
i've seen the couple before but wasn't sure of the series
Yeah haha. Sorry I'm kinda alert with regards to the ships I like
@DanielRigg It seems to me as if this actually is hopeless, but if it is any consolation to you there is a very, very high quality and long running series of books you could purchase for study known as How to Draw Manga. If you can't locate a teacher, learning from that would be the next best thing in my opinion.
now i sorta want to see the series to understand the context of the ship's development
@Tonepoet also i have been told reading bakuman and gekkan shoujo nozaki kun might help too

@Tonepoet is that a painting or a pillow
@Memor-X It looks like a painting to me. Since robocat's busted, you can get more details off of safebooru.
It might also be marker art though.

1 hour later…
07:27
Safebooru is terrible. I prefer Gelbooru with rating:safe selected.
Or at the very least -rating:explicit to exclude blatant NSFW.
I think Safebooru does scrape Gelbooru, but it's always missing things.
07:41
ohayou
'morning

1 hour later…
09:05
@forest i thought the 2 and Danbooru was the same
Nah Danbooru censors a lot of things and requires money to see some posts.
@forest i notice those gold messages, do they give any of the money to the artists?
I don't think so.
I mean the artists don't even post their own works.
It's usually random people who find it and upload it to a booru.
(While tagging it with the proper artist and linking to the source, of course).
well i see messages saying that the artist requested some images to be removed
Yeah they have to obey DMCA.
10:05

also combo breaker
and morning
damn you
and morning
10:18
I did a green cake
only Asian people easily find what makes it green
seaweed
nope :p
Mornin'
wasabi is my only other guess
not wasabi either ^^
10:23
I usually use spinach to turn things green. But Not sure that would be used in cake as well ;s
I don't like spinach x)

2 hours later…
@AndrewT. i don't see why not. we already do so for scifi id requests to by recommending SciFi.SE so could do Lit.SE for general manga id requests
12:50
@forest Regardless of your assessment, I'm not linking to any website which needs to have rating:safe enabled on a public website though, so it's a moot point.
Fair enough.

1 hour later…
14:18
@Morwenn Is it tea? It seems to me that east asian people like to flavor things with green tea.
I mean I know there is green tea mochi at least.
@Tonepoet nope, it isn't
I don't think what I used is really used in Japan either
I might be wrong
Oh and green tea ice cream too. That's actually quite good. Anyway, @Morwen I'm not going to ask yet since I don't want to spoil the guessing game for anybody else who wants to try, but I am curious and I'm sure you want to share your knowledge, so do tell us what it is later, 'kay?
I will eventually :p
I could also post pics of the cake once I'm home ^^
@Morwenn That sounds great.
people generally like it :)

Q: Trying to find vocoloid music for Hastune miku Japanese music

Ninajgo0321Well this song was when she would start singing and walk toward you with her arms down I know only a couple words of the lyric it goes te ame and yeah that’s all I know

^ I suspect that's off-topic since it's describing part of a video, but if it was on topic, I think I would suggest that the song is probably The World is Mine.
So I'm just sitting here dismayed by my inability to help, since off topic posts shouldn't be answered and answers to questions don't belong in comments. >_>… Oh well, The World is Mine isn't exactly the rarest Miku song, to say the least.

Q: Does Vocaloid count to our Music Identification Exception?

Memor-XAfter Identification Requests were removed we kept Music Identifications under the prevision that the asker knew the series it came from. A recent question (while an answer to this Meta wouldn't make it any more on-topic regardless of the answer) asked about a Hatsune Miku song. it got me thinki...

@Dimitrimx Y'know, I saw that topic before but I forgot about it. XP
21:32
@Tonepoet wait, you could figure out the song from just the words "te ame"?
@Memor-X I'm not 100% sure, but listen to the opening and tell me if I'm wrong.
^ Pocky Game DLC, Pocky is replayed with Sushi Rolls
@Memor-X Well that's a good way to get your tongue bitten off. Akagi's depicted as being almost as recklessly gluttonous as Yuyuko in fanworks.
