@Frosteeze remote could work but that would require a home office that a) i don't have a b) the sheep my parents refuse to get rid of will drive me insane in a month (they almost did last time). where i work now the place is big and probably more job security being multi-national and if the contract we have with the client expires they try to reassign us (so i have been told)

that's not to say it's without flaws. sometimes i wish i had a passive income i could live off from so i could just code/create what i want

They bluntly screwd over onedrive, reducing 15gb storage to 5, removing all kinds of things, they had a very long, very buggy streak.

If it's going to be like the 365 story, they will 'combine' it all. Which means it is most likely going to integrate with VSTS, which can go either way.

and if they take the azure approach, they will be adding a lot of bleeding edge experimental alpha things that are somewhat common day standards that break left and right, and do not/ very slow support on it.
