@Memor-X Yuri on ice is strange isn't it? I mean, I am perfectly aware of its use as a person's name, rather than a slang term, mostly thanks to Dirty Pair. However, up until seeing Yuri On Ice, I always assumed it was a feminine name.
@Tonepoet i've always knew Yuri as a name was common for males in Russia, infact there is a Yuri who is real famous. i think he was the guy who developed the rocket system for a Russian Space Craft during the Cold War
not sure how Yuri is used as a slang term as i haven't seen dirty pair but without the context that Yuri is a character, @Avery statement of Yuri is so cute sound like an endorsement for Shoujo Ai/Yuri
@Tonepoet true but Yuri on Ice also messes with you that there are a number of non-japanese characters in there as such Japanese naming conventions get messed up a bit
@Tonepoet i'm not sure. i know there's someone who thinks the popularity of Yuri on Ice has ruined looking up Shoujo Ai/Yuri on the internet but i don't have that problem because i generally look for shipping for i put in the series name
@Memor-X I'd probably say Lily if confronted with the choice, because she's the youngest variation. Aside from the obvious desirability of youthfulness, if you can survive the marriage long enough, she'll eventually transition into her other forms. Saber Alter is what you get when she wants a divorce. XP
@Tonepoet funny that because Nasu said that if Lily and Alter had their own game, Alter would be the protagonist and Lily the antagonist
thinking on Alter being what you get when she wants a divorce maybe that would be a better example of the Lancers. impossibly Lancer Arturia is on her 30's and she has her Alter form
@Tonepoet true but considering your previous post Alter would be like Archer, trying to destroy her former self because she didn't like the divorce lol
@Tonepoet ahhh. well i was thinking it might have been from one of the fan OVAs because looking at Patchouli you sorta see that quality difference between stationary background and animated frame, like when you see something blow up in earlier Dragonball z episodes
@Tonepoet reason why i said fan ova since i am ruling out Scarlet Curiosity since i can't see where in that all the residents of the Scarlet Devil Mansion would be together when the gameplay is just Ramilia and.....the blue maid there
@Tonepoet well, while it seems lack of skill and technique. The characters has their own personality. Whoever made this seems to have a nice creativity and clear imagination. Probably not really a good artist but rather a writer. I think
@Darjeeling I certainly won't deny any of that, esp. the writing bit, since the dialogues prior to each boss battle are amusing, and not to mention relatively unique for the game genre at the time. Zun's also a talented musician, and a competent enough programmer. Still though, even being as much of an enthusiast as I am, I am perplexed by just how inspirational this art is.
@Tonepoet well when a game has been officially localized and sold in another country i generally drop the fan part because fan games generally are seen as free titles that use the same settings and characters but don't breach copywrite. when you have Sony and NISA selling the game then it's too late for Zun to go "i don't want you making money off my IP so stop"
Creativity alone often gets people nowhere, and especially when they lack the backing of a major publisher or a large marketing budget. I mean, there's much more Touhou art on Danbooru than just about anything else, including major series like Final Fantasy.
@Tonepoet i thought so. but yeh it's his right to shut sown commercial projects. free projects which i generally associate with "fan" projects as such while Genso Rondo and Scarlet Curiosity might be unofficial i don't see them as "fan" games because i'm paying for them
@Tonepoet yeh i can see your point there but i do consider free fan works as being separate from paid doujin works even though both generally come from fans
maybe there's more legality stuff to do with it. i just know that as much as i would want Final Fantasy, Monogatari and Madoka in my multiverse i can't unless i pay for it
That's one of the differences with Touhou. Zun's a rather permissive guy, and what he did for Touhou fanworks is vaguely like a prototypical copyleft license. Granted, they're much stricter than the typical copyleft license, and some of his provisions may be unreasonable, but most of the freely made works do seem to honor it and are hence 'sanctioned' in some capacity, even if Zun is completely unaware of their existence.
@Tonepoet he has provisions for touhou doujin works? i generally only hear such a thing when it comes to Star Trek where there's is a book with minimum understanding of the universe and you work wont be considered proper star trek if you deviate from that
(ie. trying to come up with some new technology which renders all Warp Theory science obsolete if i recall)
I think that provision is there so that people don't claim it's a channel of doujinshi distribution that's exempt from the mainstream commercial distribution guidelines.
I wasn't expecting any console releases at all until N.I.S.A. announced Genso Rondo.
I'm not exactly sure what the story that suddenly made these Playstation 4 games okay is.
@Tonepoet i learned about Tsukihime after i got Fate/Stay Night from a friend in uni which is probably about 7-8 years ago. Higurashi came from the same friend but i learned about the series from seeing a youtube video of the top 10 messed up scenes in it
like a scene of one of the girl using that nail remover
or the scene where one girl says she's sorry before holding a knife to the wall then bashing her head against it
In the new Boruto ending there are a bunch of random children whose faces are shown, my guess is that they are characters that have yet to be introduced, but are they from the mist or leaf or somewhere else? Has there been any info on who they are?
@Darjeeling Yes, yes, that's exactly it, or the closest thing to it. What I don't know is exactly who else, if anybody, was involved during the P.C. 98 era when it was under the Amusement Makers label and who did what, rather than the Team Shanghai Alice label. However, Team Shanghai Alice and most of the windows games are made entirely by Zun, aside from a few collaborations.
@Darjeeling There is a strong likelihood that nobody else was involved though, and even if there was, few of the characters in the PC-98 period were all that popular anyway and the ones that were had different designs. That picture I showed earlier is the original in-game art art for almost every character depicted from Touhou 06 Embodiment of The Scarlet Devil through Touhou 10: Mountain of Faith, plus a couple of touhou 11 characters.
The only one missing is Suika Ibuki, who was originally a Touhou 7.5: Immaterial and Missing Power Character, so she's the only official Touhou character whose original in-game art was drawn by somebody other than Zun.
@Dimitrimx good. made a script that automatically breaks a single line into separate ones, like text wrapping except you'll need to specify how many characters. also fixed up a lag problem with item descriptions in my game caused by the function being called every frame rather than once every time the menu index value changed (default RPG Maker XP behaviour)
@Memor-X Not much, I just hate when the execution is not consistent when I run my code unchanged several times in a row while there's no reason it shouldn't be consistent
@Dimitrimx well technically i was bypassing the GUI's text limit for item descriptions via scripting.......but still you shouldn't be updating something every frame when it's not going to change
......also i found ages ago that my game runs better if i run it off an internal HDD rather an a portable one
still, if i make my game run well on a portable HDD then it'll run ever better off it
@Morwenn fuck i hate situations like that. what code are you working on
ugh external hdd's significantly increase loading times, as well as destroy performance for any games which dynamically load resources. Love working with those things >.>
cool :) We ain't doing something that fancy with it, shamefully. Then again, whatever the people do with the info after we do our stuff, I am quite unsure of
@Dimitrimx yeh. just before i learned that i bumped up the FPS to 60 to hide the fact that my hud was dropping the original 30 FSP down to about 15-20 so with the change it runs between 40-50. then i learned it was the HDD and it was running find at 60 FPS
@ColdFire neh, if there where floods here I probably wouldn't be alive anymore. considering I live below sea level.
I had a issue with internet after moving, and they resolved it by riping the cables from the external wall, rewiring it, and directing it through my window. Leading to the window being unable to close.
I think I've recently read a manga (but very long since I read the last English translation), where the protagonist is a Japanese sent to study war game simulation, which turned out to be real.
The manga has some explicit side story (interacting with prostitutes), while (I think) no sex scenes
The last English chapter is when they was ordered to exterminate a village, but then turned to the village's side.
I should've recognized the manga if I read the title (hopefully)
the profession of the protagonist has a specific name, like "controller" or similar. In the last arc the mercenary company recruited children from villages and formed a squad with the children, which then is operator'ed by the protagonist.
no obvious Shoujo Ai/Yuri but Love Live Sunshine, Precure and Yuuki Yuuna is bound to have subtext or hints to it
we already know about Fate/Apocrypha but for those of you who still havcn't played the Visual Novel it seems this month the first Heaven's Feel movie will be out
and incase if you wan't seen or don't know @Darjeeling, looks like new Girls und Panzer movie in december
I saw that Naruto got very angry and unconscious when Hinata was hit by Pain. This made him lose control and Nine Tails took over. Still Pain looked happy as if he wanted that to happen. Naruto on the other hand has to get back control in order to defeat Pain.
In Boruto, does Boruto have Sasuke's headband (from the original Naruto series)? If so, why does Boruto have Sasuke's headband? Or will Boruto abandon Konoha sometime in the future, and put a missing-nin slash on his headband?
This question was inspired by the above image. Also what does the e...
@Gallifreyan Oded mod deleted closed questions, also "Why is every anime always sexually gratifying women" = "why does every anime always give sexual pleasure or satisfaction to women"
the question then goes on to say:
> I think that anime does portray women badly. I won't deny it. But I think that there are many anime out there that always gratify woman sexually.
portray women badly and sexually gratifying women don't go together so the question makes no sense
@Dimitrimx but the question you need to ask before that is; are Sexy Jutsu Shadow Clones fertile?
or even does the Sexy Jutsu copy the anatomy as well? when Naruto uses it there are a bunch of clouds in the way so how do we know that the lower part was copied properly?
maybe those clouds exists as apart of the jutsu because if they weren't there we'd see that a sexy jutsu makes Naruto like an Angel
Wooooo! The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2......doesn't look like Metalia and Visco will be in it which is a shame but still hopeful for shoujo ai/yuri in it
