When I see lists where they rank most powerful shinobi in Naruto, they generally rank Naruto near the top (usually 1 or 2). These list generally don't even have Kakashi in the top 25, yet Kakashi is a Jonin, whereas Naruto has NEVER even been able to become a Chunin! So at what point in the show ...
Recently I've started to read the Hardcore OP-ness LN and I quite like it. The plot is simple, characters are shallow, but that "realistic" style is something new to me.
Anyways, it's true that general moderation on SE sites is done by regular (well, higher rep) users but the issue is that diamonds are your error handlers. If there's something that the community doesn't really agree on (because people are people and people don't agree), diamonds are supposed to understand site ethics and values well enough to make a reasoned decision.
And if you don't have a lot of candidates for diamonds and especially if you don't have a lot of community involvement in choosing diamonds, you run a much higher risk of getting into a lot of trouble when those exceptional cases occur.
Judging from the one or two discussions I've had here about the elections, I think there's a general misunderstanding in this community of what diamonds do.
I mean, there's always misunderstanding because SE diamonds are conceptually different from what most people draw as an analogy: forum admins.

I did not have even a touch of hesitation. Burn everything. Set ablaze everything in sight. The villages and supplies which we do not burn will become the lifeline that will feed the enemy. I was executing a cheongya tactic in reverse.
