Q: hentai identification request?

Javier Landaverdeonly seen two episodes of the series, never got the name of it been trying to look for it everywhere but only found an image the image i'm posting is the scene when she loses her virginity to the guy she likes, before that she's pretending to be asleep while he's eating her out (sorry for not h...

@Sakamoto i'm going to be really negative but...are people just that stupid that they dont look at the post preview just above the bloody post question button? if the poster of this question did they would have seen how useless their warning would have been cause they didn't attempt to hide the image
@Memor-X isn't this a duplicate of one they asked about earlier?
@SecretEvilRadio if the broken link was to the same image in their second question than yes and it should have been an edit
22:50
I'm considering the idea of banning hentai indentifications entirely.
Why?
@LoganM Becuase they don't add real value or quality to the site.
@MadaraUchiha i would recommend maybe with the Meta Post we link to with the Identification Request, change that from being the Reverse Image Search to a Identification Request guide, we include a link to the Reverse Image Search Meta but also a link to the rules on adult content (cause the sexuality link in the original meta is going to Area 51)
And we are not porn reverse image search.
22:54
I don't see them as any worse than any other identification requests.
@MadaraUchiha Yeah, that's Reddit.
2
@LoganM If it were up to me, those would die as well.
But people seem to like them for some reason I don't understand.
@MadaraUchiha Easy rep?
But I think identifying porn is something we as a site should object to.,
@MadaraUchiha i like them (when they are well asked questions) as they give me new anime to watch
22:55
I mean, that's probably the reason why we (Arqade) still have identification requests.
Identification requests rarely help anyone but the OP.
@MadaraUchiha I disagree. Hentai is just as much in our scope as anything else.
@LoganM It is, but it drags us down in terms of quality.
I feel bad when I go to our home page and most of the posts I see are hentai identification requests.
For some reason, you seem to think that hentai is low quality. But that's not true, at least not inherently true.
Even if that's not the situation at all times today, it will be in 6-8 weeks.
22:57
If the questions are bad, deal with them individually.
@LoganM Neither are PHP or jQuery
@MadaraUchiha And neither of those is banned on SO
They are excellent tools which are a magnet to low quality contribution and content.
Being a magnet for bad posts just means we need to be more vigilant.
I mean, is a magnet for horrible grammar from what I've seen of it, but that doesn't mean we should stop entertaining questions on the series.
@LoganM You can fix grammar
22:59
@MadaraUchiha You can too, and you're more likely to see the posts than I am.
Yes, and I do. But grammar isn't the issue here.
Grammar is part of quality
There's nothing inherently wrong with hentai, identification requests or hentai identification requests
If quality is the issue, grammar is certainly a relevant consideration
remember we're dealing with a human element which in inherently stupid. the best thing we can do is put up signs as clear as day so that anyone who ignores them will look like an idiot and can't argue when no one helps/downvotes/closes their questions. the only way we can truly fix this is something like this. except the user's head is bashed into the screen forcing them to read and wont let go until they have read everything
23:00
It's just that I feel as though it's overtaking the site and moving it in a direction I (and I think, we as a community) don't want it to go.
And I'd much rather cut it off now, then in 6-8 weeks when we'd be flooded with redditers and whatnot seeking easy identification of crap.
@MadaraUchiha I absolutely want to go in the direction of more hentai. It's currently underrepresented. And I suspect if we took it to meta, my arguments would win out.
@LoganM I don't mind hentai.
@LoganM there's already a meta on it
I fear the things that it would bring.
It's a very very slippery slope, and I'm very cautious, that's all.
Kicking people off the site who want to ask valid, well-researched questions about hentai, which just so happen to be identification requests, is not a good way to get people to join the site who are interested in this topic.
If the problem is with low quality ID requests, that is a legitimate problem. But don't conflate that with hentai. The two may be correlated, but there's no causation there.
As for low quality ID requests, I had an idea a few weeks ago for a minor policy change which I might write up on meta. May kill two birds with one stone. Won't totally solve the problem but it should at least make it clearer which ones need to be closed.
23:06
@LoganM and link that to the id request tag? (since new users can ignore the wiki easier than the red pop up)
I think we should at least adopt the policy other sites have
Get a visual/audio artifact "or GTFO"
@MadaraUchiha isn't that just Arqade, Scifi you can get away with a wall of text
@MadaraUchiha That's only the policy on Gaming
Not on Scifi or Movies & TV
I'll take your word for it since I'm not overly active on those sites.

Q: TV series about game show in another world

Memor-XThere is this boy, quite sure he wears a red shirt and has blonde hair. he travels to this other world which seems kinda like a game show where he helps out and is friendly with the staff. Near the end of the series the Game Show Host goes crazy and he starts trying to kiss the audience with som...

23:09
Actually, we're already more restrictive than Scifi and Movies last I checked.

Q: Movie about attacking Roots/Giant Plant?

Memor-XLast night, as I went to turn off the internet, on my mum's TV there was a movie/series (the last of a regular commercial break as I watched, it may be an indication it was a movie). My mum was asleep and I couldn't find her remote without waking her up so I could see what the title was in the in...

The problem I see with id questions in general is that they are almost never helpful to anyone but OP
I've seen several people say that, but I don't know why they think that.
@LoganM Try as you might to give it a descriptive title, it's very unlikely that two people will remember the exact same thing and google by that.
I've found several ID requests here to be ways to find new interesting series.
2
Even if my initial goals weren't the same as the OP's, the post was still useful..
23:11
I want to say something about using SFF as a model, but I can't comprehend it enough to make snarky comments.
@LoganM ...
SFF's model is kinda hard to understand.
I can say that on any question on any series whatsoever.
But we're not any better.
@MadaraUchiha Only if those questions helped you find a series you didn't already know.
@LoganM Which, again, could be any question in any tag on any series...
Not necessarily an identification question, so that argument is not really effective
23:12
Sure, it could, but in practice, is it?
@LoganM For me it is.
I found plenty of series to watch from questions here
For me, it is not.
23:13
Like Mysticial's one on Railgun
Or Hashirama's one on Hellsing
I've known of at least 90% of the series which I've seen questions for.
For ID requests, it's less than 50%.
Which is to say, I need to look very hard outside to find new things which interest me.
I'm glad that you find the site useful in that way
But that's not what it's ultimately for.
Anyway, if your argument is that ID requests aren't useful to most other people, I disagree from personal experience.
@MadaraUchiha It's for whatever we want to build it for.
@LoganM Why don't we allow recommendations questions then?
@MadaraUchiha because they can't be objectively answered.
23:17
@MadaraUchiha too broad and primary opinion based
So?
If we want to use the site to find new and interesting anime to watch
What do I care?
I feel like you're getting increasingly off-topic now.
My point is, like I said, there's nothing inherently wrong with id requests.
They're perfectly on-topic and valid questions, with an objectivie answer, when done propertly.
But I think they take the site in a bad direction.
The question is whether Identification requests are useful for anyone other than the OP. I've stated that they are useful for me. Hence, even if they aren't useful to you, your argument is incorrect.
A direction we won't be able to easily change later.
23:20
we can't easily change them now
theres so many of them
@ToshinouKyouko Of course we can.
before i get sucked in, its time for bed o/
#tomato
If there's community consensus I can get rid of them all in a day.
Alright, I have to get some sleep myself
If search is correct, we have 9 questions tagged with over 1000 views. I don't see how that's compatible with those questions being impossible to find.
23:23
Sadly I'll have to cut this short
@LoganM and one happens to be a hentai id request, though it has a downvote
Hopefully we can continue the discussion at some other time

Q: How does Mario stay alive after so many deaths?

joeI mean seriously? How does he? Does he regenerate or something like in Doctor Who?

i can imagine The Doctor eating green mushrooms before his next regeneration
I'm not sure I agree with the comment there.
Ummm... It's a video game. If he didn't "stay alive after so many deaths" it would be a really short game. — Ben 1 min ago
but plenty of people have cleared mario games with only 1 stock, so I don't think that's really true.

Q: Besides instant brain destruction, what would it takes to kill Tatsuya?

MindwinTatsuya can cast regrowth on himself as a instincive and reflexive measure. He does it twice in the Anime (first when he tunes her sister Miyuki's CAD and enrages the BroCon girl by not gawking at her semi-nude body, second when he receives a lethal blast during Monolith Code finals). The wiki s...

23:38
@Sakamoto He wouldn't be much of a Gary Stu if he were remotely capable of dying.
is there a way to get around the answer lock after a question is put onhold?
What?
on hold questions don't lock anything
just prevents posting answers
@LoganM but the answer in the mario question, it came 5 minutes after the question was put on hold
how does one do that?
That isn't an answer lock
But yes, you can post answers on closed questions in a few very rare situations
I think [on hold] is not the same as [closed], and that's why you can post at that time
23:42
No, it is functionally the same.
The main way this happens is if the user was already writing the answer while the question was put on hold.
ok, I thought it might be different
Normally, it'll be updated and you'll get a notification that says you can't post it.
But sometimes that fails, and you can get a window of up to 24 hours to post answers.
I don't know the exact details, but it's relatively rare.
i like the comment to Ben, i'm sure when Nintendo runs out of ideas for Mario they'll come up with one last idea which runs off that principle
To the best of my knowledge, that's the only intended way that a user without special powers can post answers on a closed question. There might be other bugs though.
@LoganM i would think there would be a flag check somewhere during the posting process. ie, if onhold or closed then do not post
23:46
@Memor-X Well, not before Ubisoft or EA get to it first.
Nintendo has been fairly slower in the monetization market than most big studios.
@Memor-X No, this behavior is, for some bizarre reason, intended.
Under normal circumstances, a user will be informed while writing their answer that the question is on hold. But if that fails and the user already has a lot written, it's that the user has a window to post their answer. I believe the window is something like 24 hours.
I think this is so that the text never gets lost. If you get a warning beforehand and were working on something great, it's your fault if you lose it. But if not, you could lose a lot of work typing a long answer only for the system to drop it completely.
I can't speak for SE though so that's my own speculation why they implemented it.
@ton.yeung @ʞɹɐzǝɹ So how do I add you to my friends list?
Looks like it's 4 hours:

Q: How was this answer posted after this question was closed?

tombull89Question: lot of .exe folders are created on my windows7 Answer: try that... The question was closed at 11:57:57 (according to the hover-over-"x-mins-ago" bar) and the answer was posted at 12:16:35. It's a fairly lengthy answer, so it's possible that it was started to be written before it was c...
