One of the things I find silly with the manga-anime-here.com website is that last time I checked, it only tells you where the legal alternatives are if you are in the US...

I mean I think it's the one country that needs it the least, since it's incredibly easy to find stuff in the US. When almost every title is available to watch legally online, few will bother to go to fansubs and those who do are not choosing them because they are ignorant of the legal sources

probably site admins are all US citizens and they don't care about anything else

and not that many non-US citizens know English well enough to be interested in US stores for anime, I guess?

Are ANN's encyclopedia or Anime Planet any better in that respect?

Their coverage is not as thorough as MAL's, but almost as good for anything mainstream.
