@Memor-X In a world without Shirou, or if Shirou was teamed up with Archer:

@Tonepoet could have just said Unlimited Blade Works Good Ending where Saber stays around after the Holy Grail War and remains as Rin's Servant (much to her complaining about Mana Resupply Requirements)

@Memor-X Eeh, I felt like emphasizing the fact that if Shirou didn't get involved that Rin was preparing to draw Saber and they would've fought alongside each-other more directly.
Also I'm not familiar with all of the endings. Just the Studio Deen televised adaptation.

IIRC that was made as an OVA by ufotable right?
It was called Sunny Day OVA

@Tonepoet true. i don't know any official work that does that

@Memor-X I think part of the reason for that may be because in Fate/Stay Night it seemed like you needed heterosexual pairs for mana exchange, although that has probably been retconned since then, if it ever was the case...
That'd explain why Shirou didn't summon Archer, and it'd explain Rin's failure to draw King Arther, as the king was a queen.

4:23 AM
@Tonepoet well there is non-sexual ways to resupply mana, like we don't see Waver having sex with Iskander in Fate/Zero

@Memor-X Yeah, I know. Even in Fate/Stay Night they explained that you can just suck the souls out of humans, if I recall correctly. Both Shirou and Saber were opposed to that plan of action though.

but in Fate/Extra you have 3 Servants to choose from, Saber, Archer and Caster. Saber and caster are both female. alter into the game you choose to save Rin or Rani from their fight with one another and the one you save looses their Servant but becomes your ally.
there's a part where your Servant gets almost killed by Soichiro Kuzuki and Assassin so your Servant is leaking Mana. while your partner fixes the leak they need to be resupplied so your ally and your Servant spend some time in the nurse's office.
i only played with Nero (Saber) with the male player and if you try and peak you see Nero is on the bed, Rin is on-top of her with some questionable dialog because a security system knocks you out
in a way it suggests that with Saber and Caster, lesbian sex might have been involved which would explain fully why you are kicked out of the nurses office and the security system
but ofcause in Fate/Extra "Mana" isn't the same as what it is in the rest of the Nasuverse as the world's supply of it dried up almost half a century ago so the resuply might be something different
@Keale i got the collection but havn't seen it yet or if the collection comes with any OVA, however i assume that it would always do the True End (confirmed in one of the questions here where some was asking about the identity of another character)

I think the OVA was just an alternate ending, and was really short. Though as a Saber fanboy, I loved it.

@Keale if it's based off the visual novel's Good End the real difference is that Rin and Shirou never went to Clock Tower after the war
infact the only change to the game for the route if i recall is that Saber doesn't accept her end and fights to remain. it's like a couple of extra lines
i suppose it's a Good End because Shriou gets to be with both since the trigger is building up a high enough relationship with Saber. though i like it for the idea that it's Rin and Saber in the Tohsaka Mansion

4:44 AM
@Memor-X I'm mostly just considering Fate/Stay Night though. All seven servant/master pairs were heterosexual in that game which suggests that this affects summoning affinity, and then there's that scene where Shirou had to be involved in the mana replenishment.
All of that gets thrown out by Fate/Zero though, since Alexander has a male master if I recall correctly.
Which is not even to mention Chloe and Illya's interactions in the Prisma universe.

@Tonepoet actually this isn't true. though outside recontratcing like Rin and Saber there is one Master/Servant pair who are the same sex and what you see in the other routes is the result of a stand in
so it's not that it was thrown out with Fate/Zero, gender never actually played a role in hero selection
plus also a Mountain has no gender too

@Memor-X Oh yeah, there is Sakura/Rider, although that seems like an exceptional case. Sakura's supposedly extremely powerful, and besides that it's easy to forget because we're first led to believe that her summoner was Shinji, because he's her acting master by the time she's introduced.

@Tonepoet true, though someone being powerful is also not a qualifier to be a Master. Shirou to start off with and also Soichiro Kuzuki is even less a Magus that Shirou
the only guarantee of who will be a Master is someone from each of the founding families. Tohsaka, Makiri (Matou) and Einzbern
Einzberns are cheats so they can probably always rig it to whoever they want. Rin is the last of the Tohsaka and as for Sakura......
spoilers

5:00 AM
@Memor-X Yeah, but there's all sorts of rule bending that comes with being powerful enough to manage it. Pretty much every one of the rules is broken if I recall correctly. Caster killed her master and replaced him with somebody who wasn't even a magus, because she was a strong enough magus to serve as her own master for instance.

@Tonepoet well Medea came from the Age of Gods which when compared to modern day Magi she's more or less a God herself
also killing you Master isn't breaking the rules. in the Visual Novel Saber can do this to Shirou if he decides not to fight after getting the briefing from Kotomine

@Memor-X Also don't forget that Gilglamesh shouldn't even be competing because he was summoned from the prior war, but Kotomine managed to maintain him for all of that time.
Granted, part of that is because the last grail war didn't properly conclude either.

@Tonepoet well that's because Gilglamesh is an Archer so his class skill is Independent Action which allows an Archer to remain without a Master (time varies depending on Rank). Gil is also OPed from the start so you have a high level Independent Action which is further boosted by the corrupted grail's mud

@Memor-X My point here is that she doesn't actually seem to have a proper master though.

@Tonepoet well after killing her first master yes. from what i understand the one who summoned her was someone from the Mage's Association
though it does throw dirt in what Rin said about how you have to kill Masters to stop the Servants since a living Master without a Servant can get another stray one
however Medea might have just been an exception considering she's been the only one to more or less create a new Master
(she shouldn't have been summoned in the first place)

5:13 AM
@Memor-X On an off note, when she takes her hood off Medea looks like she could be Len's mother.
Whoops, fixed.

@Tonepoet hmmmm
> Len is a Succubus Demon Familiar with the ability to manipulate dreams, created from infusing the leftover thoughts of a deceased human girl into the body of a dead cat.
> She once served a Magus several centuries ago
possible the girl may have been Medea

@Tonepoet yeh. i haven't seen Carnival Phantasm but i've read nothing that suggested they interacted with one another
similar hair, same ears. Medea seems a bit mothery there

5:30 AM
@Memor-X That seems somewhat unlikely, since Medea's an adult woman and Ren's a little girl, but perhaps Medea was a powerful enough magus to possibly pull off the resurrection of her deceased daughter into the vassal of a cat.

@Tonepoet no because the Magus that created Len is noted to be a He
> the magus helped Arcueid Brunestud defeating a top Dead Apostle by the name of Einnashe, and as a tradeoff for defeating Einnashe's particular hold, Arcueid promised to take care of Len after his death.
plus the thoughts could have been what was left of Medea's free will before Athena screwed her over like Greek Gods do
> Her life was always controlled by someone else, and her mind was destroyed at a young age to save a hero chosen by the gods.

@Memor-X Eeh, I wouldn't read too deeply into masculine pronouns. They're traditionally assumed when the identity of a person is unknown.

5:45 AM
@Tonepoet yeh but i recall an image in Kagetsu Tohya which showed the figure of a man
or atleast when i saw it it seemed like a guy as opposed to a woman

@Memor-X Ah, well, that's different then.

Q: Is there a connection between Medea and Len?

Memor-Xin Carnival Phantasm when everyone is in Ahnenerbe we see Medea (Fate/Stay Night Caster) and Souichirou Kuzuki. but there is someone else with them Medea has a girl on her lap and i know that girl is Len, the Succubus Demon Familiar who travelled with Arcueid Brunestud before she made a contra...

and probably not yuri but still adorable Jack the Ripper
more than likely Jack see Gudako as her new mommy
(though Gudako sorta looks like Kotone in Persona 3)

10:43 PM
@Memor-X Here are some more caster and Len pics. Also, since you're asking a question a fuller screenshot may help:
If that's Shiki to our left then he probably brought her there, for some reason.

@Tonepoet yeh that's Tohno Shiki but you'd expect Len to be sitting on his lap like how White Len is generally seen sitting on Nanaya's lap
but i can't get over how motherly Medea looks with her. yes she wants to be Kuzuki's wife and proably have children but why pick Len? she did fawn over Arturia in the series so more liekly she's like to have her as a daughter to dress her up

@Tonepoet yeh that

@Memor-X Well, in those respects Len looks much more like Medea than Saber does, and she's significantly younger looking too, which may make her seem more daughterly to Medea than Saber.

11:10 PM
Besides that, it's not impossible to have more than one adoptive child and Medea's interest in Saber might be less familial in nature...

@Tonepoet lol. Morgan wouldn't be happy with that

11:21 PM
@Memor-X Arturia's the heartthrob of the Nasuverse, so it wouldn't be Morgan's only rival in love, not by a long shot. XD
Between Shirou, Giglamesh, Rin and Gwenevere there's already some pretty fierce competition I'd think, although granted, based on what I know of traditional Aurturian legend I'd suppose Gwenevere would be more interested in Lancelot but y'know...

@Tonepoet yeh Gwenevere loved Lancelot and Arturia knew this and even wanted them to be together but Gwenevere was already her queen and expected to produce an heir. Gwenevere's execution was entirely because the people demanded it and Arturia tried to please the people as their ideal king, the major flaw in her rule

11:49 PM
@Memor-X Uther probably didn't make that mistake. XP

@Tonepoet no, he just relied on a prophecy for the greatness of his heir and questions the Magus who who brought it to him when his heir was a girl when Merlin never said the One True King would be a boy
Uther: at last, my son will lead us to.....where's he penis?
Merlin: that's a girl sir. you have a daughter
Uther: you said my child would be King
Merlin: did i ever said said child would be a boy? it costs extra to get a sex prediction of an unborn child
