I mean it's the university, there are people here who wanna study and don't mean disrespect to you if they call you mister or doctor, whatever

sure there are some dickheads who you can see are thinking shit about you, as it's written on their face, but that's not how most of the people there are

maybe you gotta be a "real" professor to be able to understand this need or extreme desire to be called using these honorifics as doctor or professor

to me there is no importance in that

we're here to do good work and that's what my mind is on

that reminded me of an episode at work

I was kinda used to address everyone and myself when intriducing myself to others by the full name

so as usual, everywhere I wrote emails, documents, it contained my full name and not any kind of more familiar variation of it

and then some people with whom I've been acquainted for definitely not enough time, started getting chummy and call me by I dare say inappropriate for a work environment short names

like usually I'd say/write Hakase, and then some manager lady calls me Ha-chan and I'm like wooot

another dudebro manager guy tried calling me "ey Hak!" for the first few days of our interactions

I kept calling everyone in that skype group by their full name

dudes were like "hey, we're all equals here"

lol no we're not

they outranked everyone by 2-3 levels

I haven't even seen most of the people from that skype group in real life

that's just weird

I guess they don't care, but I didn't care much either about calling them by short names

they had a problem with that though

like I was disrespecting them or something

maybe they thought I was "distancing" myself from them but wouldn't that be expected, given their much higher rank and age and the fact that I haven't seen them ever
