anyways, usually the original is much better than the derived works. I.e. anime often omits all the elaborated details of characters' thinking process and lives only action, just how it happened to Overlord anime (which is not that bad)

but of course there are different examples, e.g. I just couldn't read the Index manga

Monogatari was adapted by a really talented team, so it had an advantage over stuff adapted by the usual hacks.

The later light novels also have a huge problem with bloat that the anime cuts through, though it was annoying when they cut too much and then filled in with review episodes.
