mostly first person perspective with completely 3D modelled maps (4 of them) completely accessible, every single place

Well... Not everything is supposed to be 100% fun, some things you do the hard way

however the overall process itself is fun in the end

there are many more gems among the 2d simply because it's easier for less talented programmers/gamedevs, but who know how to make an interesting story and gameplay

Plus, I like math anyways :P

If anything, 2D games are harder to make imo... You need an artist to create your 2D environment... Pixel arts, hand painted art... everything... Those are true talents required to make a nice 2D game

in a 3D game all you need is the game engine and some modelling knowledge and you have a world of your own

I make games as a hobby, so I choose what I do and don't, and I don't like math and 3d games for various reasons, so I don't involve myself with them.

also it's a lot harder to make 3D world interesting than 2D (at least in my personal experience)

Well of course it is, but it's harder to create a 2D world that's actually captivating than a 3D one... 3D worlds are usually easy to get to the player with some good effects

object modeling is pretty simple, just requires some dedication

thats true, as far as the gameboy emulators go, right now all im running as a very old black macbook, that currently has its battery removed due to lithuim ion inflation. so even with slow processing speeds, because of the removed battery

I had a Core 2 duo with 2 Gb of ram and 1Gb on my GPU that ran the game on a good playable 20 fps

im now even slower, with 1/2 cpu

@shaggy doesn't sound right, why would performance decrease because of the lack of battery

When I upgraded to my Core i3 4Gb Ram and 2Gb GPU the emulator ran like my little bitch lol

On laptops (especially ify ou're using AMD stuff) the moment the battery hits a certain level the GPU settings enter "power saving mode"

@Hakase its a 'MAC' thing, its programmed to do so, factory. if battery is removed it cuts processing speed in half

they end up using half their power if not less

resulting in a worse performance

for AMD there is something called AMD catalyst which lets you set the stuff you want always running on high performance, I don't know about Mac's version of that

lol shaggy, I know the feeling... I used to have a laptop that crashed everyday whenver I ran something that was just SLIGHTLY intense... Had that laptop for an entire year and I almost broke it in half one day

virtual machines will require some processing power though

having a virtual machine working on something like a game in the background will definitely do some "heating" to your laptop

idk I hear Parallels have a great support for interoperability between win and mac

yea reinstalling a windows or even sometimes upgrading speeds up your PC significantly, especially since if you install a lot of games and other software it adds a lot of unnecessary files that slow down your pc

@shaggy, there's stuff called Cached memory including other stuff you can't clean out without reinstalling a windows

i just want to get rid of my xbox one... what a waste of $$$ that was.

no matter how much you try to clean it (unless you know how to use the system files and dll files including some .bats) then that's another case

you can replace them, yes, but they may die on you when you've gotten significantly far in the game
