A: Xorg.conf doesn't work

AravindI have Nvidia 940mx in laptop. The nvidia prime (Nvidia X Server) setting may slightly differ then what you have. But nvidia_prime have 2 save options. 1) X Server Display Configuration > Save to X Configuration File. This will save file as "xorg.conf". 2) nvidia-settings Configuration > Save C...

Do I save this ".nvidia-settings-rc" in the same directory of xorg.conf?

I save .nvidia-setting-rc in home dir and xorg.conf in /etc/X11 dir
Try not to change the dir that it suggest.

Ok, I tried it. Unfortunately it did not work. I checked if the hidden file was in the home and if the xorg was in the etc / X11 as described above and configured. When the computer started the refresh rate and resolution was "auto". Thank you for trying.

goto dash >logs > important tab. Are you getting some error related to nvidia here?

Q: Ubuntu 14.04 nvidia-prime "is it supported? no"

dieuweI have an Optimus laptop, a Dell XPS 15 L502, which I've had for a few years and have tried various things on (bumblebee, nvidia-prime, linux kernel optimus support). The graphics card is an NVIDIA GT 540M. I upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 a few days ago and wanted to try nvidia-prime again (it wasn'...

nvidia_prime requires graphic_driver ppa

I don't use ppa. I installed the driver using "Additional Drivers" option in my Ubuntu.
Is this nvidia_prime necessary to do what I want?

No. prime just offers you to edit setting via GUI. Like whether you want use nvidia high performance or intel driver for power saving etx.

Then I think I just have this. My config GUI is similar to yours.
I'll try follow the steps in this topic you send me.

Ok

Your English is then mine.
Let me study and I will come back to you. I think prime don't save these setting automatically. I think, I have to find a manual way.
I think we have to do it via terminal as per this article

Q: How to see/change screen refresh rate or monitor frequency?

HappyDeveloperMy eyes hurt so I thought I should check the screen refresh rate (monitor frequency), but I couldn't find it. Where is it? (in Ubuntu 12)

Hi, I have updated my answer. Please check, if this fixes your problem.

Yes. This last article is what I do actualy.
I just thought that is a best way to do it. Because it works only after I login in a user account and it becomes the initialization slowly.
But I think I'll keep this solution and learn to live with it.
I have to leave. It's getting late here. Thank you for your time.
