my prior recommendation stands for mystery
can't think of any non-obvious sci-fi (because i haven't read any non-obvious sci-fi lmao)

@UnrelatedString hmm, the Wikipedia summary says that whatever the narrator does ends up being meaningless which is…actually interesting

@user Ok, cool. A couple books that I would recommend are The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie in the mystery category and A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge in the sci-fi category.

Thanks
@DLosc I actually read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd after you recommended it to me a couple months ago. The intro kinda spoiled the book but it was still a really cleverly done book

6:27 PM
@user Lol, I totally forgot about that. ^_^
Too bad about the intro. I feel the same way about some book summaries on Goodreads.

6:51 PM
The problem is you can't tell if you're going to like the book or not unless you read summaries or reviews :(

Sometimes I read the first page or two on Amazon Browse Inside.
Or standing in the library. :D

If you're down for some fantasy, I recommend Watership Down by Richard Adams, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke, and The Giver by Lois Lowry (among many others).
