I've been watching my wife play Stardew Valley a lot lately and I keep thinking on and off about how the world's mechanics, assuming that game mechanics represented "real" things. It's a fun mental exercise.
E.g. days last 20 minutes, seasons last 28 days and transitions are instantaneous, things that process other things (e.g. barrels, casks, etc) really do shrink and grow rhythmically while working, etc.
And, of course, it can all be explained by magic because we know there's a wizard present that actually does use magic and isn't just a pretender.
