4:54 AM
@MartinEnder bah, I've finished every level except for the tower
(available to me)
and I disagree: It does not seem easier than it looks

5:06 AM
....also, the operations just got way more confusing
I don't understand how or why
but lets say you have a stack of sausages that looks like:
B    M   T
--   ||  --
XX   ||  --
and you move that bottom sausage to the left
it matters where you stand
oooh, now I get it
if you stand underneath a sausage, it won't move because it doesn't have to

@Pavel me playing N++: gets You Suck but That's Okay achievement great :|

3 hours later…
12:46 PM
Finally finished the tower
I thought forever that I needed an L-shaped stack on each "port"
and getting to an L-shape on a single port is really hard
but once I did it, I realized that I was wrong.
I figured out the new stack shape made it way easier

@NathanMerrill nice work! :)

thanks. I'm having to spend more time contemplating the level before interacting with it

2:58 PM
currently stuck on Cold Jag
(took me a while to find the level name)
I really like how this cold world feels
like, how you can see the breath of the character
and the colors make it like you want to huddle up next to one of the burners

yeah, he makes pretty good use of the minimalist art style he's going for
can you redo levels? I've just looked at a screenshot, and I think I'm seeing a solution, but I don't know if I can test it again.

I feel like I've had 3 different solutions
but none of them worked

is this the first world-2 level you're doing?

no
it's world 3, I think :)

oh, really?

3:07 PM
and it's my second level

isn't the tower at the end of world 1?

unless you have a world 0, no

oh okay
then I must have misremembered that

anyways, the primary problem lies in getting off the sausages

correct

3:09 PM
there are only two spots you can exit a sausage: Next to the ladder, and on the other side
but if you exit next to the ladder, then you have a sausage preventing you from going down
but if you exit on the other side...then there's no ladder

I imagine you're quite aware of this, but only two of those three statements are correct ;) (necessarily)

I know :)
I mean, I know that I have to go down the ladder
which means I have to exit there
but that's the part that baffles me

looks like I saved my game after completing world 4 but before finishing another level in world 5, so now I have to figure out how to build the bridge to get to world 5 again...

I feel like Stephen could have made secret levels

yeah (unless we just haven't found them)

3:16 PM
like, a spot inside of an existing level that you can enter
I don't think he did
the other option is find a spot that is really hard to get to
even if it's plainly visible
so...I was reading other people's reviews of the game
it appears that The Great Tower really is really the hump of the game
the biggest leap in difficulty
either that, or where most people quit :)

yeah, at least it's the most daunting

3:45 PM
I still think it's really hard too. It's the first level that you have to visualize the solution before implementing it
every other level up to that point, you can kind of play around and get a feel for the level

yeah, I guess that's true, but I also find that once you sit down and try to figure out what a solution must look like systematically, it ends up being more doable than it first seems.

I mean....that's only true if the solution you came up with is the right one
the first time I sat down and thought about it, I came up with the wrong solution (stacked L-shaped)
and it's really hard to get the pieces in the right spots for that
but perhaps I was simply unlucky

7 hours later…
10:25 PM
Now streaming myself deranking in Rainbow Six: Siege

10:52 PM
@Pavel camper :)

@flawr It's rainbow six
That's kinda the point
