@Susan While I have great respect for you, your questions, and answers I find your actions as a moderator on this issue leave a lot to be desired. First, you did not edit the OP’s question to remove what @curiousdanni calls deliberately provocative and non-constructive language. Instead, you answered and upvoted (my assumption, please correct me if I’m wrong).
When you first pointed out the problem, the OP responded (comment since deleted) the wording was intentional to attract attention. You failed to point out the proper way to do attract attention is to start a bounty.
When I downvoted the question (citing your reason), the OP attacked me by claiming my action was in response to an issue on another question. As a moderator you should have got involved at that point. Instead you let their offensive comment stand (tacitly agreeing).
After the OP’s attack on me, someone began to serial downvote my questions and answers. When that was reversed, the person began to systematically downvote questions and answers. The OP then began to edit my questions and answers to “fix” what they saw as wrong.
As I believed this was the OP acting in retaliation to my down vote on this question, I decided to start a bounty (the proper way to attract attention). I edited the question to remove what we all agree was a poor choice of words. This allowed me to change my vote.
I then upvoted the question and started a bounty. When I did that, the attacks on me stopped. If you have the ability to track these things you can check the validity of what I am saying. In the meantime, the edited question got no additional answers. So I restored the question to its original form and started a second bounty.
This was successful in getting an answer from ScottS. At this point @curiousdannii got involved to remove the language. Because the second bounty attracted another answer and it was a position the OP defended for over a year, I changed the curiousdannii edit. Then the OP finally got the message which you had pointed out from the beginning and they edited their question.
I changed it back again. Obviously I was wrong in doing that but given the OP had defended their original question for over a year and the bounty was still open, I believed it was reasonable to wait to make the change.
The OP also posted a comment to curiousdannii which indicates they too were willing to leave the original question intact until the bounty expired. However, they posted a different request with another offensive comment about me in chat. Here they contradicted their comment to curiousdannii. At this point you step in again on the side of the OP, threatened to suspend me (making no effort to correct any of the offensive comments about me).
You also make public the wrong claim that “I hate him” never once addressing the conflict the OP created with their comments. You have left your comment public pointing others to the OP’s clearly offensive comment. Also their comment is largely dishonest about their desire to reword the question, as you well know. I have flagged the OP’s “hate” comment as offensive, which it clearly is and would appreciate you removing the comment and correcting the OP.
