12:12 AM
@Sterno The good ol' days

Make This Is Fine Great Again

1 hour later…
1:21 AM
In light of reps skipping the metal detectors, Pelosi has put in a $5000/$10000 fine for non-compliance
Also Andrew Yang is now running for NYC mayor
The reverse de Blasio, which sounds like it might be good in any other context

@TimStone oi Salbde

@TimStone See I've always thought that Bloomberg was the reverse de Blasio

I was thinking more Yang ran for President first and now NYC mayor while de Blasio did it the more traditional way

Heh. He was always a long shot

Those guys in the Q hummer that showed up at the Philly vote counting center were out on bail so…naturally they were at the insurrection

1:36 AM
Do you think de Blasio would try to run for president? That would be, ugh

@TimStone Why would you ever need to bring a gun into the senate
Actually I suppose to defend yourself from Trump supporters

@PrivatePansy He did! He was in the 2020 primary lol
Along with those 40 other people

Oh ewww

It did not go well for him, obviously
I mean, I also would not pay him, but I would not hire him in the first place so 🤷🏼‍♂️
Trump never had a confirmed person in the position his entire term

Also didn't realize Chad Wolf also stepped down
I'll miss that name appearing in headlines
Chad Wolf sounds like a porn name or a 13 year old's MMORPG character. Xx_ChadWolf_69
lol Chad Wolf stepped down not because of the failure of his agency in stopping the riot but because he was probably not appointed legally in the first place
Why is everything in this admin so completely stupid

2:03 AM
@TimStone I suppose if you can't afford buses, you can't afford lawyers.

2:34 AM
"If we impeach the president while he's out of office, where does this stop? Why don't we impeach George Washington for owning slaves?"
Yeah, totally the same, Lindsey. Good one.

2:46 AM
@Sterno Considering Trumps approval rating barely took a hit, somehow, it's no surprise. They'll stay on the Trump bandwagon so long as the GOP base continues to like him.

Yeah, my Facebook feed is just full of people who hate Pelosi because she called herself a mother and daughter "even though she banned gendered words from the House". No one mad at Trump
Pelosi story is obviously BS, btw

@Sterno I hope in your next life you're reincarnated as someone with a better Facebook feed.

Like
He's probably joking?
But
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@TimStone I refuse to believe that's not satirical

I don't quote know what to makes of "fictitious documentary"

This is like something you'd hear on SNL

This doesn't even rank in the top ten nonsensical things Rudy's said

3:50 AM
I mean it's not detached from reality in a way that is self motivated in some way. This is just dumb, period

@Sterno Yeah, I feel like in the course of conversation he just decides to throw in a "zinger" or something and words just fall out of his mouth

in that he sucks and has bad ideas

Yes, in that sense, correct

4:19 AM
Oh my, suspended again. I'm sure I've learned my lesson this time and will no longer use inappropriate language about Trump. Really.

2 hours later…

6 hours later…
11:36 AM
@Jolenealaska Do I want to watch this? Probably not. But car crash.
Oh ok kind of knew about this one. He doesn't mention the impeachment.
Honestly he's just in "trying to cover my ass" mode right now

2 hours later…
@Unionhawk Leftwing protestors are more violent, obviously.

2:56 PM
Of course she is

This is what happens when you don't know anything about who is on the ticket and just vote by party
This didn't age well.

@Sterno Yes, although at the same time, the Trump family keeps forgetting that Hillary and Bill aren't the same person.

Well, they apparently thought Hunter Biden was running for president. They get confused easy that way. Maybe it's dementia

Fairly easy to get confused when you don't care about facts or reality.

3:19 PM
@Sterno actually, she ran unopposed in the 14th district, which is a deep red district in Georgia

Weird. You'd think literally anyone could have beat her in the primary
But I guess crazy people need representation too

"Kenney disagrees with O'Toole, supports vaccination of elderly inmates" cbc.ca/amp/1.5871622
> "That seems to me humane and ethical that they should, like anybody in their 70s or 80s, be able to get access to the vaccine early on, given their particular vulnerability," Kenney said Tuesday.
That awkward moment when Jason Kennedy takes the moral high ground over you

That district has NEVER had a Democrat get more than 30% of the votes

I was talking about the primary

3:33 PM
Marjorie Taylor Greene (née Taylor; born May 27, 1974) is an American politician and conspiracy theorist serving as a U.S. Representative for Georgia's 14th congressional district. Greene was elected to Congress in the November 2020 elections, and she took office on January 3, 2021. She was one of the 139 representatives who challenged the results of the 2020 US presidential election in Congress on January 7, 2021, the day after the storming of the U.S. Capitol. == Early life and education == Greene was born in Milledgeville, Georgia, on May 27, 1974. She graduated from South Forsyth High School...
The primary was quite close

Boebert beat out a five-term incumbent of her own party. Ocasio-Cortez beat out a ten-term incumbent of her own party.

:56746341 For a second there I thought you got suspended for some reason
YOU'RE RACKING THEM UP

I should probably care about that but eh
I will police my language and say that Lindsey Graham is back to riding Trump's hairpiece, instead of other words I previously chose
I feel like the Dems have a logical problem if they want to say that Trump incited the Capitol building riots with his speech, and simultaneously want to say it was planned in advance and some reps were in on it
Maybe "Why not both?" applies though. I don't know.

4:22 PM
@Unionhawk lmfao

@TimStone Wait so it's like a genie?

@tchrist I mean, the Capitol building was closed on counting day, and we saw how that went
Doesn't matter how closed it is if they don't actually enforce it

@TimStone Hopefully this goes well.

@Wipqozn Thus spake Pandora.

4:58 PM
PEOPLE: Two Off-Duty Virginia Cops Federally Charged After Taking a Selfie During U.S. Capitol Riots.
https://people.com/crime/two-cops-federally-charged-after-taking-a-selfie-during-u-s-capitol-riots/
For the life of me I can't figure out why police were so much more lenient on the Capitol protesters than BLM
SUCH A MYSTERY

5:14 PM
@TimStone That sounds like a guy who knows even less than I do about how New York state politics work

@Sterno Their 6.5 bathroom house too.

> A White House spokesperson denied that Trump and Kushner restricted agents from their 5,000-square-foot home, with its six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, and asserted that it was the Secret Service’s decision not to allow the protective detail inside. That account is disputed by a law enforcement official familiar with the situation, who said the agents were kept out at the family’s request.
Oh, okay

Yeah I'm not really seeing why you'd be willing to take a bullet for someone but not willing to go into their house

I'm also not sure why you wouldn't want someone who might need to take a bullet for you in your house but here we are

5:44 PM
@TimStone I mean they're being paid to take those bullets. But spending time around Jared and Ivanka than you need to? Nah

6:07 PM
$100k worth of potty breaks.
The Obamas have a garage with a water closet that acts as a command post for sojourns into Narnia.

2 hours later…
8:19 PM
Are they looting the White House?

@MadScientist no, they're just moving out all the furniture. Presidents can choose their own furniture, and it's tradition that when a president leaves, all their old shit gets removed

I wasn't entirely serious here. But I do doubt that Trump owns that bust

@MadScientist it isn't. It's part of the furniture stockpile of the white house
I believe they got a warehouse somewhere with a bunch of furniture that belonged to former presidents, and the new president can choose from that.

That's much more plausible, but looting the place would just be so Trump

8:43 PM
@tchrist Based on the replies, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks that photo looks doctored.

You mean it's not?
I thought it was deliberately a bad photoshop

I don't think it is. Various other accounts seem to indicate it's genuine.
Looks like the photo was for Reuters
And is posted to their Instagram

9:07 PM
\o/!!!
> Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) on Thursday issued a blistering critique of President Trump's false claims that the election was "rigged," and said that the House acted "appropriately" by impeaching him.

Good.

Doesn't mean she'll vote to convict, but it does raise the odds.

9:55 PM
“On the day of the riots, President Trump’s words incited violence, which led to the injury and deaths of Americans — including a Capitol Police officer — the desecration of the Capitol, and briefly interfered with the government’s ability to ensure a peaceful transfer of power,” Murkowski said. “Such unlawful actions cannot go without consequence and the House has responded swiftly, and I believe, appropriately, with impeachment.”

It's obviously very carefully worded to not give a definitive answer on which way she'll vote

yes
intentionally ambiguous even

Right, "I support impeachment" is so much more clear than "I support the vote to impeachment". It's like having feelings for parliamentary procedures lol

@PrivatePansy She said she supported the House's impeachment, and consequently the Senate's trial. Conviction we must wait on.
Charging, convicting, and sentencing are three separate things. But remembering her having said "I want him gone. Now.", there seems little doubt how the dominos will fall.

Aha! yes

10:08 PM
By the time the vote comes around he'd likely already be gone

that too

A presidential term is finite, a conviction of high crimes and misdemeanors is forever.
The unpardonable stain.

1 hour later…
11:37 PM
@Wipqozn unless they think shared family names means shared crimes. in which case oh boy are Trump's kids screwed
@Sterno unless you accept the argument that 2-3 months of Trump egging on his base with conspiracy theories his speech on the day was the lighter to the fuse
ie. it was only planned because of Trump's rhetoric and him being there, telling them *"if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore." was a go ahead for the ones who planned it
