In the context of the Elon Musk libel trial
> Throughout the openings, Mr. Spiro referred to the tweet at issue as a JDART—a joking, deleted, apologized for, responsive tweet.
Oh god, his lawyers have to invent new language to describe Elon being a massive git

@BradC I find the legitimacy of the investigation into the legitimacy of the investigation into russia to be questionable, we need an investigation into the legitimacy of the investigation into the legitimacy of the investigation into russia

> There is something deeply sinister about Trump pardoning Charles Manson, even posthumously. Dog whistles of the very worst possible kind.

@Ronan I didn't do a detailed analysis, but it seems very unoptimized to me.

Unemployment rate among young men in Alberta nears 20%, a level not seen since the early 1980s
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/men-male-youth-unemployment-jobs-alberta-1.5389303
> The same data, meanwhile, shows a relatively stable employment picture for young women over the same period in 2019.
They're currently around 10%
My assumption is it's because of the oil industry being dominated by men, and it's the industry that's dying.

Two charges of impeachment against the President have been presented by the House, as expected

@TimStone I see reports of the House announcement, but can't find any actual articles; have draft versions been released that you can find?
Haven't seen the details, but I've been persuaded that more (narrow) articles would be strategically better than only a couple of "kitchen sink" articles. We'll see what they look like

I haven't seen them yet, just the presser the leadership gave

@TimStone yeah, I think that's all we have at this point
Compelling argument for why we shouldn't exclude the Mueller report:
> While there are other compelling examples, the McGahn episode is the single strongest episode of obstruction of justice in the entire Mueller Report. The facts of what occurred are established by clear evidence and are supported by both documentary records and the testimony of multiple White House officials. It is also an example of obstruction that is unambiguous on the law—it presents a clear criminal violation.
> And that’s exactly why the Democrats would be nuts not to include this episode as an article of impeachment.

@TimStone A more advanced case of "you get what you measure"

looking for a direct PDF link, everyone is doing that annoying "embed a viewer on your page so we can still show you ads" thing
Not a PDF link, but I think this is the original scribd link. It also contains a "download" button if you want it standalone

Wasn't that last year?

it says 2019
> Our Word of the Year for 2019 is they. It reflects a surprising fact: even a basic term—a personal pronoun—can rise to the top of our data. Although our lookups are often driven by events in the news, the dictionary is also a primary resource for information about language itself, and the shifting use of they has been the subject of increasing study and commentary in recent years. Lookups for they increased by 313% in 2019 over the previous year.

It was 2015
But not Webster

they're good words bront

They is a good word bront
Because it's singular

5:29 PM
they can be singular and they can be plural, that's part of why it is magical
i did like this part of the article, for the grammar authoritarians
> English famously lacks a gender-neutral singular pronoun to correspond neatly with singular pronouns like everyone or someone, and as a consequence they has been used for this purpose for over 600 years.

They is only singular and using it as a plural is bad grammar and lazy
That's my hill and I'm dying on it

> A Monmouth University poll found about twice as many registered voters rated Bloomberg negatively as positively -- 54% unfavorable, 26% favorable. That margin was significantly worse than for five other Democratic candidates, as well as for President Trump.

@BradC I imagine Bloomberg lost bonus points for coming into the race as a self-funded billionaire shortly before Harris exited the race due to lack of funding.

I feel like I've asked this before but who is Stefan Molyneux and why is he verified on Twitter?

@Wipqozn even if your assumption is right they'll deny it, maybe even blame "greenies" for causing a climate that prevents job growth in oil
