2:32 AM
The fireworks were so plentiful they're dousing the D.C. downtown with a ton of sulfur smoke, so can anyone be sure the portal to hell hasn't opened?

2:46 AM
> In a new analysis out Thursday in the journal Science, scientists report restoring forests could cut atmospheric carbon by 25 percent

4 hours later…
6:58 AM
What is this revolutionary war airport stories I read about on Twitter?
ah, it's another Trump gaffe during one of his speeches

4 hours later…
10:52 AM
It's going to hit 90° F in known hot place checks notes Anchorage, Alaska

11:34 AM
@TimStone and also Nova Scotia!
34 c I think, or 94 Freedom Degrees for you craaaaazy Americans

Looks like Trump's Revolutionary War airport story wasn't the only air force related gaffe
For those unaware: Aircraft One is Putin's plane

12:01 PM
@Nzall I was about to ask why you didn't just post the link for one box, then I remembered, and then I got sad.

12:33 PM
@TimStone we'll grow oranges in alaska

@Unionhawk something something Godfather and oranges reference

so not close

12:53 PM
@Unionhawk Well I wasn't saying that's what you were doing, but Oranges were used to symbolize or foreshadow in the godfather (originally accidentally)
so basically, it seemed kind of appropriate to grow oranges due to us dying of global warming

@Wipqozn We also added 224,000 jobs, more than I expected, and I assume all of which were in AC installation & repair
Speaking of which my AC is broken so I'm ready to fight someone over climate change

1:09 PM
@TimStone aka global warming is making jobs! GLOBAL WARMING FOR PRESIDENT 2020

1:58 PM
From the day before...
Apparently some mice have been cured of HIV. Long way to humans, but still good news

2:26 PM
@Stormblessed yeah, was about to say, there's this Twitter account that does nothing but subtweet IN MICE whenever it hears about a study about a medical breakthrough in mice

A person who licked a tub of ice cream in a supermarket for a viral video then put it back could face up to 20 years in prison
Wtf? 20 years? Give them like... 20 hours of community service

@GnomeSlice did they just lick the tub or opened it up and licked the icecream too

Ave
@TimStone how many went to people who were unemployed, how many went to people who were already holding one or more jobs?

2:46 PM
@Memor-X They licked the icecream too
And since they didn't know what store it was in the chain decided to toss out all the ice cream
in all the branches

@Nzall oh it was before it reached the store

@Nzall damn I guess yeah that's a bit messed but come on
Rapers get less than 20y

@Memor-X I suspect it was in the store, but there wasn't enough information in the video for them to figure out which branch it was in

yeah, and it's considered a federal crime similar to putting razor blades into candy

2:49 PM
tampering with commercial foodproducts

@GnomeSlice pretty much every "could fact up to X years in prison" headline is based on taking the harshest possible sentencing for the worst thing they could possibly be convincted of and then reporting on that as if it's inevitable

@Nzall if it was in packing to be shipped to store it's alot more serious. it's sorta like the Strawberries issue we had last year where someone was putting needles in them during packing

> It was part of an effort to treat addiction as a public health issue, following rising rates of methamphetamine addiction. The Standing Committee on Health advised the government to “undertake an evaluation of Portugal’s approach to the decriminalization of simple possession of illicit substances and examine how it could be positively applied to Canada.”
@ToxicFrog yeah you're right actually
Hopefully cooler heads prevail

That said, this is basically "introducing a biohazard into commercial foodstuffs" and it does not surprise me at all that the max sentencing for that is high, although the law is probably written more with an eye to e.g. intentionally contaminating the produce section with e.coli

Right

2:56 PM
Re your other headline, "Is Canada About To Decriminalize All Drugs?" -- almost certainly not before October, probably not afterwards if we re-elect a Liberal government, lol not a chance in hell if we elect a Conservative one. Which I'm terrified we will.
But it would be nice!

3:09 PM
I didn't write the headline but yeah.
TheFreshToast has really impressed me with their reporting otherwise though. I recommend them as a source of news in cannabis. They source their articles pretty well in my experience

I'm not personally interested in cannabis-related news specifically, but that's good to know, thanks.

4:01 PM
@Wipqozn wow that's awesome, nicely done!

1 hour later…
So....trying to gerrymander even worse than now?

Yeah. Which was obvious but legally challenging to prove until the contents of that Republican operative's harddrive became available, but now he's just out here saying it directly

The real question is do you think right wing wonks like our baseball friend actually believe the court argument in favor
of some shit about the 14th amendment or whatever
Because like on one hand there is no way anybody is that stupid
but on the other hand

I dunno man I think Thomas actually believes the stuff he says because otherwise why would you even say it? But yeah, for the rest of them
"I concur with the majority opinion BUT! for this obscure-ass nonsensical reason"
And it's like "Clarence buddy you won you didn't have to say those things" "Ah but I did"
See also, his wife

2 hours later…
6:58 PM
@Unionhawk If you were America's uncle candidate and were asked about who you'd nominate to the Supreme Court who would you pick? And yes this happened

I mean I know the answer but I could go even further and pick like, a federalist society guy too
except I don't know any
which is probably a good thing actually

We could probably make up a fake name and have it be correct tbh

7:43 PM
@Unionhawk we are shocked to inform you that there is apparently at least a second secret cbp racist meme facebook group

1 hour later…
9:12 PM
@TimStone they called a doj attorney on vacation on Wednesday for this lol
Hey man I know you're on vacation, but the president just directly contradicted you just now. What do.

2 hours later…
11:04 PM
> President Trump on census: "So we'll see what happens. We can also add an addition on so we can start the printing now and maybe do an addendum after we get a positive decision. So we're working on a lot of things, including an executive order."
🤷‍♂️
