The President is inciting violence against a sitting Congresswoman—and an entire group of Americans based on their religion. It's disgusting. It's shameful. And any elected leader who refuses to condemn it shares responsibility for it.

yay the dems are calling it out

@TimStone Can't say I disagree, but I question the efficacy of doing so.
You know the GOP won't care whatsoever.

i was worried they were going to do an "all viewpoints matter" thing like with the hate speech

@Frank it's about making nancy pelosi and others, who are also doing the thing, care.

@Unionhawk So basically positioning for the upcoming Dem rat race.

No I think it's about being the only person to make the correct statement that these fuckers are about to have blood on their hands
and no amount of "oh I stand with you" at a vigil will wipe that away

I can't seem to find the context. Link?

the president is trying to get Ilhan Omar killed and her democratic colleagues are almost totally silent http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/04/ilhan-omar-islamophobic-backlash.html
> The backlash came to a head this week after footage surfaced of Omar speaking about Islamophobia at a Council on American-Islamic Relations event last month. “Far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen and frankly, I’m tired of it and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it,” Omar said to an audience gathered in Los Angeles.
> “CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something,” she said, gesturing as if to separate herself from ‘some people’, “and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.”
> Conservatives seized on Omar’s characterization of 9/11 as “some people did something” to cast it as an effort to trivialize the attack. President Trump on Friday tweeted a video that intercut her repeatedly saying “some people did something” with footage of the 9/11 attacks, with the caption, “We will never forget!”

> her comments were directed at a government — not a people — whose supporters routinely accuse its critics of anti-Semitism to stifle debate.
Ah, the ol' strawman argument to deflect criticism back onto the accuser.

Unsurprisingly, the teamsters are not crossing the Stop & Shop picket line. I, wonder how many non-union trucks they can get in and how long a grocery store can last without such shipments

Just finished reading that article, thanks @GodEmperorDune.
I had thought this was a more recent issue, not something Trump does on a day to day basis, unthinking, and uncaring, only seeing the world from the eyes of incredibly privilege and bigotry.

yeah it does a good job of providing the larger context of what has been happening with illhan omar

Which makes sense; the simplest way to have people against something is to make them fear it.
Truth doesn't matter; fear is irrational.

Sen. Mike Gravel's official statement on Donald Trump's egregious, impeachable decision to incite violence against @Ilhan.

Oh come on
The memory of 9/11 is sacred ground, and any discussion of it must be done with reverence. The President shouldn’t use the painful images of 9/11 for a political attack.
"The real victim here was 9/11"
The follow up tweet even manages to Thank The Troops for some reason

1:48 PM
@TimStone but would Trump even care that it is beyond "respecting" it as a tag line for campaign running

user15026
@TimStone sigh

This morning, chairman @RepRichardNeal sent the following letter to IRS commissioner Rettig after the IRS missed the April 10th deadline to furnish six years of the president’s personal & business #taxreturns:
tl;dr "The law is preeeeeeeeeeetty clear here folks, give us the tax returns"
Prosecutors just admitted at a hearing about the Robert Kraft video they will not charge anyone at Orchids of Asia with human trafficking. Prosecutor: "we have no evidence that there's human trafficking involved."
Which is not to say there was no reason to be concerned about this place but sex work does not automatically equate to trafficking! So this is a positive outcome even though it was immensely funny Kraft was involved and the President definitely met the parlor owner and she definitely helped send in a spy to his private club

2:40 PM
@TimStone 50% of these guys manage to say absolutely nothing about this with so many words and it's honestly breathtaking

@Unionhawk Sorry sir you're going to repost jail

@Unionhawk System built on suffering. I can see it for travelling, but...for your own citizens?
You shouldn't have to choose between bankruptcy and living healthy.
