12:12 AM
Chechnya is carrying out a new LGBTQI purge - and it's already claimed the lives of two people http://bit.ly/2RsLFQi
urg this is disgusting
they might deny it, but they also deny that gay people even exist

@GodEmperorDune I can't remember who anybody is anymore, but she said the right things in that Twitter thread so I assume she's a decent choice

You did a good job explaining @GodEmperorDune, nice work
@Ash I'm glad, it's complicated!
I'm not super informed about it, like I had to confirm March 29

user15026
@puzzlepiece87 It is! Between trying to figure out this and tryign to keep a vague idea of what America is doing, plus, y'know, keeping an eye on my own country, my brain is very full.

@Ash Thanks for always being a patient explainer on Canada
I wouldn't know half as much Canada without your help
Particularly about Canada's ongoing troubled relationship with native tribe members.

user15026
Eeergh oh yes that is a mess and continues to be one

user15026
12:20 AM
Do you use twitter? I can recommend a pretty good follow for that, actually

Indeed, @Unionhawk was posting some important updates on that recently.

@Ash oooh, who?

@Ash I do not but do check it manually occasionally. Which username?

user15026

user15026
At least, they've been helpful for me to hear aspects of that sort of stuff that I don't see from mainstream stuff

12:23 AM
@Ash Thank you for these!

@Ash aylanX is new to me, thanks

user15026
No problem :)

user15026
Another good follow for stuff is twitter.com/LauraMaeLindo - she's my local MPP but also is the Official Opposition Critic for Anti-Racism, Citizenship & Immigration.

user15026
So she posts a mix of like...super local to me things, but also good like...wider Ontario/Canada stuff, idk, I find it useful

user15026
(I voted for her, I think she's great)

12:25 AM
@Ash I will find that useful also, thank you!

user15026
She's how I learned about a place LITERALLY down the street from me that is trying to be like a local gathering space for like community organizing stuff

user15026
(Like this place is somewhere I walk by EVERY DAY. I thought it was just a little art collective place and a reclaimed furniture store but it's also this gathering space too!)

user15026
Hopefully those are helpful recommendations :)

@Ash Definitely. I actually tried to join Twitter one time to follow these sorts of folks but was turned off when I couldn't use it without a phone number.

user15026
nods Makes sense to me.

user15026
12:30 AM
I use it mostly to yell about romance novels (which is why I'd never suggest myself as a follow for this kind of thing) but also to keep an eye on political stuff in a way my brain can handle.

Yeah, getting diversity of perspective is very important to me.
Which is why I still check Twitter manually occasionally.
And then I mix it into my Sunday stuff by reading sermons from people like Kathy Khang, etc.

12:44 AM
Almost choked on my damn dinner

get it adam shit get it

Oh, I didn't even notice he made the joke that literally every single one of the MAGAchuds in the replies made
But imagine getting Roger Stone to write a piece about keeping a straight story, amazing
Congressman Ed Case, who represents a majority Asian district in Honolulu - “I’m an Asian trapped in a white body”
Nah fam, just...just no

@TimStone Much more polite than my thoughts.

1:21 AM
@TimStone lol wut
@TimStone oh no bro, wut is you doin?

user15026
@TimStone oh no honey no

user15026
@TimStone I am missing something here I think

> Schiff or get off the pot
larger context is that rep adam schiff (my rep :D) is going to investigate trump and republican propaganda outlets are pissed/scared
Roger Stone, author of the piece, is likely to get in trouble from said investigation because he did shady things on trump's behalf
so effectively lex luthor writing a story that superman is terrible
(roger stone is not nearly as smart as lex luthor tho)

1:37 AM
Yeah Roger Stone's whole thing is lying so to be out here claiming someone else is inconsistent it's like "my dude"
Clemson quarterback denies saying fast food meal at White House was "the best meal we ever had" http://hill.cm/ht0uq7w
lol imagine believing he said that

@TimStone lol

Like you could have said the players enjoyed it without going "ah, and actually it was the finest dining experience ever conceived", a blatant afront to food everywhere
Like even compared to going through the drive thru it wasn't going to be as good, lol
The largest daily newspaper in Steve King’s district, one that had previously endorsed him, has called on the congressman to resign. https://siouxcityjournal.com/opinion/editorial/our-opinion-steve-king-should-resign/article_eb88ce4b-2a33-5b68-b6a4-62cad82b68f9.html
chuckles in comeuppance

@TimStone i am literally stunned that it was THIS that took him down
or came so close anyway
the committee assignment thing is pretty bad

I mean there's some effort to avoid folks peaking behind the curtain here on the part of the GOP I think, ol' Steve here was just too direct about the racism at an inopportune time so they're chucking him under the bus
But yeah, it's bad!
NEW: @Roku to remove Alex Jones' Infowars app in response to user outrage and order cancellations via @oliverdarcy https://boingboing.net/2019/01/15/roku-deleting-alex-jones-and-i.html

@TimStone #reddeningPills

1:49 AM
The story about them adding him was like…this morning I think? lol
Dunno how they didn't see this coming honestly

@TimStone wow, as fast as NYT fired the one nazi

Breaking News: The shutdown's economic impact may be double previous estimates, White House economists said. It could push the U.S. into a contraction. https://nyti.ms/2FyMTSW
1. He'll definitely think that means the country is having a baby
2. Imagine breaking the economy that badly against all odds

@TimStone trump loves doing things that obama couldn't
@TimStone counterpoint, trump doesn't know a damn thing about women's health, pregnancy, or children

Countercounterpoint it almost assuredly interrupted a round of golf in the past but yes that's the only aspect he knows
Textbook photo for the retelling of this cluster right there

@TimStone never seen a turtle do a thousand yard glare

2:03 AM
With Kim Yong Chol on his way to Washington, let's not lose sight of what's really important here. This meeting offers Kim another chance to do the one thing at which he is supremely talented: Being a giant dick.
lol that is a series of amazing anecdotes which would be hilarious if not for the human rights abuses and such

William Barr: "I also believe it is very important that the public and Congress be informed of the results of the Special Counsel's work. My goal will be to provide as much transparency as I can consistent with the law." http://hill.cm/Kg2xNyM https://t.co/GhIALvcd0I

@TimStone yeah so he is pretty similar to trump in that way

hold up, this is the same guy Trump picked?

@Memor-X yeah there is a lot of wiggle room in what he said

@Memor-X "consistent with the law".

2:04 AM
some of his other answers were trash

ie. Hide it all, and hide behind, "the law"

@Frank ahh right. i forgot about that
@GodEmperorDune so far the only 2 i have seen is this one and the one about how Trump could pardon himself or family, but might have to be held accountable for abusing his power (if there such a definition anymore)

I am unsure if I follow

@Memor-X i saw something about journalists being terrible but now it is buried in twitter somewhere

President Trump’s Cuba policy is driving millions of dollars from the island’s private entrepreneurs to its state-run tourism sector, the opposite of its supposed goal, according to new government figures. https://nbcnews.to/2Dc3iej
You will be shocked that's opposite of their intended outcome

2:14 AM
@TimStone so is this XD chess or what?

I mean they probably thought so but 🤷🏼‍♂️
WASHINGTON (AP) — IRS is recalling 46,000 workers — nearly 60 percent of its workforce — from furlough to handle tax refunds without pay.
Ah yeah making the whole government work without pay will definitely end well

@TimStone well once the government get going again they will get back pay.

Florida commissioner says of #RashidaTlaib: “A Hamas-loving anti-Semite has NO place in government! She is a danger and [I] would not put it past her to become a martyr and blow up Capitol Hill.” #Islamophobia https://twitter.com/huffpost/status/1085263134489788417
@TheMattbat999 depends on the employee, only full time direct govt employees are guaranteed, part time or contractor has not been paid in the past
(said comissioner is being asked to resign)

@GodEmperorDune 🤔 pretty sure IRS people would be full time. Justa guess.

@TheMattbat999 yeh but that would come with benefits which cost money

2:21 AM
Would you want to hand out money to other people while you weren't getting paid?

@TheMattbat999 depends on the job, usually people can't work without support staff and support staff tend to be contractors

@GodEmperorDune I was just gueesing.
@TimStone if I knew I was gonna get paid myself soon no biggie.

@TheMattbat999 the problem is you don't know when you're going to get paid, meanwhile the bills are stacking up

If the lack of money causes immediate problems, the assurance that you will almost definitely get back pay in the future is a small comfort

@GodEmperorDune I will agree with ya on that.

2:23 AM
you're not paid so you can't pay rent, landlord doesn't get paid so they can't pay their bills, the whole thing ripples outward through the entire economy

Yeah.... I am not that near sided.
*sighted

@murgatroid99 especially for those who live paycheck to paycheck. the fact they missed one has already screwed them over

@Memor-X yeah, then you start getting late fees and other penalties
it really really really sucks to not have enough money

@GodEmperorDune which screws up the next paycheck......if that even comes in

It would help alot if the government could agree on one thing in their whole life.

2:25 AM
exactly

But sadly both sides got their heads stuck up their own butt they can't see anything else.

NEWS: @SpeakerPelosi enacts her revenge on her critics, shut down @KathleenRice's bid for a seat on Judiciary tonight. Rice led the rebellion against her this fall. It caused serious drama in the room. @heatherscope @BresPolitico @MZanona & me -> https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/15/pelosi-rice-judiciary-committee-1102772
Y'all came to play but you had no game 🤷🏼‍♂️

@TimStone yeah i would not want to mess with pelosi
you are most definitely bringing a knife to a gun fight against pelosi

2:43 AM
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has officially gotten a slot on House Financial Services: A New York Democrat who will rail against Wall Street on key panel

@TimStone hell yeah

I propose to social scientists The Calloway Point: the point at which stans don’t believe they’re getting scammed, even if they are, and does that even mean it’s a scam? https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/katienotopoulos/caroline-calloway-instagram-influencer-tour-canceled-scam
I saw the thread about this lady the other day but wtf @ the people who felt bad she refunded their money, that's just Galaxy brain

2 hours later…
4:57 AM
> Based on her Instagram popularity (currently 829,000 followers), she secured a $500,000 book deal in 2015 to write a memoir.
wuuuuttttttttttt

5:09 AM
ok it seems like this lady's brand is being like naive and unorganized and trying to do the right thing, so i guess thats why the fans expected about as much

user15026
@GodEmperorDune you saw the part where it fell through, right?

@Ash yeah i'm not surprised it fell through, i'm surprised they offered it to her in the first place

user15026
Honestly the thing that struck me most was not that it fell through or that people bought into it

user15026
It was that she honest to god thought she could do it

user15026
(also teh part where she didn't realize that 1200 mason jars would be a giant fucking order cracked me up)

5:17 AM
@Ash white privilege is a helluva drug
@Ash lol yeah

user15026
@GodEmperorDune oh hell yes

custom responses to emails
handmade salads
i don't get how she thought she could do all of this by herself
i have a suspicion that a lot of this and the fyre festival stuff is people can calculate costs of raw materials but entirely forget the time involved which directly translates into labor costs

user15026
I think for her she was like "well I do this for my friends, so I can do this on a massive scale" forgetting like 5 friends is fun, wheras 100 is work

@Ash yeah scaling costs are not linear

6 hours later…
11:08 AM
@TimStone It's a psychological version of the sunk-cost fallacy—when gamblers continue to bet to try and make up the money they've lost, despite the fact they'll only continue to lose money.
You've 'invested' in her brand, it's a part of your identity. Admitting you've been scammed would be admitting you're wrong, and that your judgement is bad, so you dig-in and double down on your affirmations.
See also: Brexiteers.

1 hour later…
@Wipqozn that's the point where ICBMs become adblockers

@MadScientist Basically
Also surprise, this guy seems to love Elon musk:
> “It’s human nature to advertise everything … Brands [are] a beautiful part of humankind,” Sitnikov says in a video call. He compares his efforts to Elon Musk and SpaceX, who last year launched a Tesla into space, which many considered an advertisement. Sitnikov also compared Orbital Display to banner-towing airplanes.

this sounds like PR, I doubt it will be done. Too many issues, probably far too expensive, and advertisers probably won't like the strong negative reactions this will provoke

@MadScientist I certainly hope so

@Wipqozn yeh just what we need, more useless shit in orbit
are we trying to create the Ark Belt from Defiance?

12:40 PM
@Memor-X I think they're trying to create the future from Futurama where we see ads in our dreams
Also a world will the corporations rule everything, and the individuals only purpose is to further enrich the corporations

@Wipqozn to be honest that's not going to happen if we have too much crap in orbit that we end up like what's described here
(also thought the future from Futurama was installing iphones into our eyes and seeing ads every waking hour)

2 hours later…
2:42 PM
LOL
And if they try to sell without government approving their label, they would be throwing around encumbered speech, which is illegal
I have no idea how that works even

3:28 PM
Huh
Okay, I can see where they're coming from with that

@SaintWacko Could you explain it to me? I have no idea what's actually going on with that case. What exactly would be illegal speech for them and why?

@Nzall So there's a government agency that has to approve the labels put on beer bottles, I assume to make sure it verifies with Food and Drug Administration laws. Because the government is shut down right now, that agency isn't approving labels. Because of this, the brewery is unable to sell their beer
So I suspect they're attempting to sue for lost profits

@SaintWacko yeah, I got that far, but why the 1st amendment claim?
What's this got to do with free speech?

@Nzall I think they're trying to claim that the government is infringing on their rights by, effectively, refusing to approve their label. The first amendment angle is pretty flimsy, in my opinion
Well, hm
I guess what they're saying is that while in ordinary circumstances, the constraint on free speech (that the agency has to approve labels) is acceptable, but it becomes unacceptable when that approval is being indefinitely withheld
By not approving any labels, they are effectively banning that form of speech
Alright, I support that

Conceivably, this should only effect new label designs, not any existing designs that have already been approved. I can't believe that they need approval for every print run of a label.

3:39 PM
The fake WaPo being distributed around the White House is pretty convincing at first glance.
@MBraedley @uni was talking about this a while ago, it has to do with regulations specific to beer

@GodEmperorDune Oh man, I want a copy of that

@SaintWacko apparently it’s by moveon.org

@GodEmperorDune Beautiful
I'd put it with my copy of the local paper from when Obama was elected

Today, I wrote to @realDonaldTrump recommending that we delay the State of the Union until after government re-opens, as the @SecretService, the lead federal agency for #SOTU security, faces its 26th day without funding. https://goo.gl/22vzKa
Since the house controls the room that the state of the union usually goes in, she’s not asking, she’s telling

@GodEmperorDune Ceremonially, the President only makes the State of the Union at the invitation of the House, I think.
There's a whole to-do about it when the President arrives at the House before the State of the Union, IIRC.

3:53 PM
Yep

What if they just... don't invite him to do the state of the union this year

4:08 PM
Or maybe this is some next-level trot agitprop?
(the joke here is trotskyists sell newspapers and printing one dated "may 1 (may day)" would be on brand0

4:40 PM
McCarthy on why King is only now being punished: "Have I been leader for years?" http://bit.ly/2FwJ3KS
1. Technically, yes! Yes you were
2. But also lol at throwing Paul Ryan under the bus too

Yeah looks like 5 kevin
with 3 in whip

Chris Hansen has apparently been arrested over bounced checks

@TimStone i'm going to need you to have a seat over there

To Catch Me If You Can

@fredley yeah i dunno how this was ever supposed to work

@GodEmperorDune Stem cells, obviously

pls

6:17 PM
@fredley i bet it would

Remind me never to use Windows, where you wouldn't get this security warning

user15026
@fredley "Dr Dunne described the case as “unique” and said it demonstrated the risks of innovative treatments that are relied upon prior to clinical research in the form of phased trials." hahahahaha best response

@TimStone Crime, uh, finds a way

lol
That's extremely bold, good on them

Holy snap that was unexpected
U.K.'s Theresa May survives confidence vote sparked by Brexit deal defeat
https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/theresa-may-brexit-confidence-motion-1.4980600

325-306
close for comfort

So uh, guess we're going for a hard Brexit

but the government survived

UK, wut u doing

I'm not terribly surprised, the coalition majority is like 327 total, so this is in line with that
DUP sure as hell doesn't want to leave the exact position they're in now
iron law of institutions
although this is also how much power the institution has so
I guess iron law doesn't really apply
("The Iron Law of Institutions is: the people who control institutions care first and foremost about their power within the institution rather than the power of the institution itself.")

7:33 PM
@Wipqozn Not really

@fredley "this deal sucks but we don't want to lose power"
is I assume roughly the calculation here

I'm not sure there's much in the way of alternatives here either? Like short of a time machine and stopping the referendum from happening it seems easy to agree that May's deal wasn't great but unclear that anyone could do significantly better

@Unionhawk Eh, more like "this deal sucks but I don't want to be put on the spot for an idea".

@fredley Yeah, I think pretty much everyone said that it was unlikely for the vote to go through.

7:35 PM
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

You could try and not Brexit but doing another referendum is a gamble and I don't know anyone has the gall to actually attempt it

> Woodcock
> investigated for sexual harassment
At this point, I'm no longer surprised with how unoriginal the scriptwriters are.

you think he did original lines like
idk
he probably did
anthony's weiner, as it were
except british
and if he "you can't fire me I quit" out of his party

After being turned away from McConnell’s office for the second day running, House Dem freshmen now trying to find him on the Senate floor or Senate R cloakroom

@fredley You'd certainly know more about it than I would. I just figured after how badly the Brexit deal vote went she'd be out.

7:39 PM
I'd actually be interested to see the exact breakdown now knowing one independent (former labour) voted yes confidence
like did the 11 lib dems vote yes for the same reason lol

@Wipqozn Well, the two are separate questions. The Brexit deal vote was "Do you like this deal?" whereas the vote of no confidence would be "Do you have a better idea?".
Nobody really has a good answer to the Brexit question right now. Or at least not one that's really politically viable by their own estimates.

@Yuuki Yeah politically viable part is key, because I definitely feel like there's a really obvious way out of this mess
@Yuuki Yeah true. But considering just badly she lost that vote I figured folks would want new blood.

user15026
So they're keeping her, but not all the stuff she carefully set up?

@Wipqozn The problem with just not going through with Brexit is the referendum. And the problem with setting another referendum is the precedent of throwing referendums at the people until you get the result you want.
@Ash Basically yeah.
And the EU has said that it's either May's deal or hard Brexit because they're tired of negotiating.

user15026
Makes sense to me

7:45 PM
> DUP sources point out if their 10 MPs switched PM would have lost by 1
lol
what a cool coalition

"We're not going to do anything but we totally could've done something. In the future." - DUP, standing there. Menancingly.

If she doesn't make a Brexitier deal, basically, yeah

yep
but like, also on the other hand,

Also it's my understanding Shaun King is threatening to sue someone over a tweet he thought was mean and whew buddy gl

I have a feeling this crew of 10 is fairly happy being the tape that holds this shitshow of a government together

7:50 PM
TSA acknowledges the obvious: "Many employees are reporting that they are not able to report to work due to financial limitations." Absences are almost double the same time last year. A DHS spokesman had said this was "fake news," for which he was praised by President Trump.
🤷‍♂️

and tories being precisely between 324 and 315 helps them with that

Yeah who knew not paying people would make it hard for them to continue to commute to work etc
@TimStone lol you will be shocked, SHOCKED! to learn who did not in fact defect

> First two sentences: Sounds about right...
> Last sentence: Goddammit.

@TimStone This is the worst timeline

Inbox: @RepSeanMaloney, who is openly gay, just issued a statement defending @TulsiGabbard on her shifting stances on LGBTQ rights.
I'm not sure why he did this when he could have also not done this
I mean he could very well be right! But also she should just not run 🤷‍♂️

8:09 PM
Wow: The far-right Center for Immigration Studies has filed a RICO suit against the Southern Poverty Law Center, an org that monitors hate groups https://www.scribd.com/document/397594752/RICO-Suit-Filed-Against-SPLC
Narrator: It wasn't RICO
Shutdown impact: The FDA’s prescription drug user fee program could run out of funds in a month. https://politi.co/2MdaVnG

@TimStone I think I've asked this before, but what's RICO?

Nov 20 '18 at 1:36, by Tim Stone
Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (Act), it's an organized crime statute
When you make a gang, or, say, a mob, to conspire to do crimes
So they're saying SPLC is like the mafia in that it exists for the purposes of extortion et al
Because SPLC said that they were a hate group

Ah, okay
See, I thought I had asked before :P

:D
I didn't even notice who asked, I just remembered I had spelled out the acronym but also couldn't remember what it stood for now >_>

RICO exists so that the leaders of organized crime can be prosecuted.
Otherwise, they could just pin it on their underlings and get off scot-free.

8:20 PM
@TimStone (The tl;dr here btw is that Big Pharma will no longer be able to get new drugs approved once the fund dries up, which I'm sure will not cause any pressure from lobbyists)

user15026
@TimStone So they're basically just being like "hey you're mean"

Yeah. And it's just Extremely Not RICO here, and they also are definitely a hate group IMO 🤷‍♂️
> Senators looking for possible way to end shutdown
Y'all, you don't have to look very hard
New — Inspector General for GSA, the agency that leases Trump his DC hotel, has issued report saying agency ignored the Constitution in allowing Trump to keep the deal. More coming.
Ahh that pesky Constitution

I don't even know what grounds you possibly put SPLC under for RICO.
It's not just Extremely Not RICO, it's Wow How On Earth Are You Not Being Facetious By Claiming RICO.

They're extorting them by saying "Don't be racist xenophobes or we'll call you a hate group" which is unfair because being a hate group is bad but also not bad enough to just stop being a hate group apparently
Clearly
But yeah it really doesn't even make sense

user15026
It does seem like a really really long stretch to even like...try to claim that

8:25 PM
bringing up a rico suit against the government for extorting me by saying "don't do crimes or we'll put you in jail"

I'm not sure they actually think they're going to convince anyone, they're just justifying themselves to the 35%

@TimStone I suppose you could call that extortion (if you're a crazy person) but then literally the concept of law enforcement would be RICO.

Please see @Unionhawk's comment above, lol

the fbi takes me away on charges of criminal anarchism for that joke

@Yuuki Which is why the solution is clear. You basically hold another going "uh, still want that now that you know's really going to happen?". You also bluntly admit that the previous members of government who pushed for Brexit constantly lied to the people about what would happen./

8:37 PM
There are a large contingent of people who still believe it will get better after they leave so it's a risk to attempt that if they end up with the same result

Yeah, don't assume that the UK won't just vote Leave again.

And that's totally fair, but considering how horribly this has gone it only makes sense to give people a chance to vote on the deal itself.

9:29 PM
@TimStone Don't worry about the Netflix price hike, they're about to make it up to you:
> Netflix comedy based on Trump’s Space Force will star Steve Carell
You're welcome

@TimStone he thinks she might win and be able to help him somehow
@TimStone not surprised, shaun king is about the same grift level as the krassensteins
We have secured enough Republican votes in the Senate to reopen government. Our obstacle now is Mitch McConnell, who won’t call the vote for what seems like 2 reasons: 1. He won’t operate independently of Trump 2. He’s putting his own re-election ahead of 800,000 working people https://twitter.com/thehill/status/1085213802499579904
(i was wondering why they were looking for the turtle)

@GodEmperorDune wasn't Mitch McConnell the other guy in that televised conference where Trump was telling the other guy he's shut down the government and take ownership?
because he could then just let it pass and go "this is Trump's shut down not mine"

@Memor-X i don't think mcconnell was in that meeting, you might be thinking of mike pence

10:00 PM
@GodEmperorDune It seems crazy a single guy can prevent the reopening of the government.

@Frank i mean trump is too

@GodEmperorDune rephrase, someone other than Trump

@GodEmperorDune That seems like quite a long shot lol

10:33 PM
@GodEmperorDune Hopefully after this he's ensured he won't be getting re-elected

@Wipqozn lol

@GodEmperorDune I CAN HAVE A HOPE LET ME HAVE HOPE
@GodEmperorDune buuut I assume he runs in a very pro-wall pro-trump area?

@Wipqozn yeah kentucky is quite conservative
and mcconnell is very good at what he does

@GodEmperorDune Keeping people out of work? :P
Also it occurs to me I actually have no idea what your senate does compared to your house.
ALthough I assume they both have their own company baseball team

@Wipqozn as a politician

10:41 PM
@GodEmperorDune Or Schumer.
To be honest, I haven't seen Schumer and McConnell in the same room together...

@Yuuki ah true

@Yuuki reveals that he doesn't watch C-SPAN coverage of the Senate chambers
So someone attempted to fake a tweet from Clemson's star QB to praise the White House.
> Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence took to Twitter on Tuesday to say that a quote attributed to him on social media about the Tigers' Monday night meal at the White House was not true.

An image of Lawrence with a quote attached was posted on Twitter by @CloydRivers, an account with 1.84 million followers. The headline over the image read, "Clemson QB speaks out to defend America."
> The quote attached to Lawrence's image read:

"President Trump got all our favorite foods, it was the best meal we ever had. Then we go and see the coastal elite media trashing it for not being organic vegan. We're football players, not bloggers. This was a perfect blue collar party."

Lawrence wrote on his now verified Twitter account that the words were not his.
"This was a perfect blue collar party" - words that no blue collar worker would ever say.

i love the dichotomy between junk food and organic vegan food, like nothing else possible exists

@GodEmperorDune BREAKING: McDonalds found out! burgers are not made from meat or any animal product at all. been Vegan the entire time

"Coastal elite". States are on the coast: South Carolina, home of the Clemson Tigers.

10:55 PM
@Yuuki pretty much lol

user15026
@GodEmperorDune what else is there? :P

@Ash i dont like vegan food and don't like junk food, guess i've been starving this entire time without realizing it

@Ash Even then, a "perfect blue collar party" is not McDonald's. I've been to parties with blue collar workers. It's beer and BBQ.
Incidentally, I've also been to parties with white collar workers. It's also beer and BBQ.
The difference is literally just the price of the beers and cuts of meat.

yeah any party with BBQ is going to be good
inb4 trump holds a mcrib summit

Sarah Sanders: "Steve King's comments were abhorrent and the Republican leadership, unlike Democrats, have actually taken action when their members have said outrageous and inappropriate things." http://hill.cm/pTHzBNn https://t.co/xBbkD2cAcA
but Trump, your party leader, hasn't said or done anything
also i think people can list other times the GOP has said racist things and not been punished for it
