I'd much rather the government just invest that money into other companies that are just dedicated to green energy and for the oil execs to just get tossed into the sea. But the oil & gas industry employs 6% of the Alberta labour force (~140k people), so if they go under it's going to leave a lot of people unemployed.

@Unionhawk There's more oddities than that in the government system. The provincial government and the federal government parties are basically completely unrelated to each other, from what I can tell. Like the NS conservatives are way more left than the federal conservatives.

I mean the best step would be to just straight up ban the sales of all new non-electric vehicles starting in the year 2020-something, since I believe vehicles are far and away the biggest contributor to climate change in Canada (especially during the winter).
which I'd love to see, honestly.
I know Nova Scotia has been making efforts to increase the availability of electric charging stations, which is certainly the first step on that path
