just was thinking, Trump wanted Sessions to stop the Muller Probe but Sessions recused himself so he can't stop the probe now. first off if Sessions didn't recuse himself (and still ignored Trump) what would Session's job been in regards to Muller's probe? is he just the guy Muller would report to?

12:32 AM
@TimStone if you don't listen to the helldude podcast now with 100% less helldude, 1) you should, and 2) they did a breakdown of Cohen being guilty of crimes recently
Mic Dicta ep. 20 is here, more upbeat than ever. Charles, Christina, Mark and Michael discuss the incarceration of various Trumpworld denizens, an ICE attorney taking an L in court, and a grifting Congressman. @Ugarles @floozyesq @kept_simple @_FleerUltra https://soundcloud.com/micdicta/episode-20-what-goes-around
And also apparently the rest of those things

Donald Trump probably isn't going to like Nike's new 'Just Do It' campaign http://bit.ly/2PzttyX

1 hour later…
3:24 AM
@Memor-X Oh - is this why all those trumpeters are destroying their various Nike products, continuing their tradition of being famously bad at boycots?

@TrentHawkins oh yeh these are the same people that brought some coffee machine and then destroyed them

3:59 AM
conservatives only understand politics through consumption and it's really funny
so yes, essentially

@Unionhawk helldude podcast?

4 hours later…
12:16 PM
@KevinvanderVelden it's a podcast about law news, they talk about interesting recent or current cases, @helldude@mastodon.social (formwrly @muhmentions@twitter.com) is on it sometimes

12:40 PM
Well, this is terrifying premiumtimesng.com/foreign/africa/…

2:03 PM
@MBraedley Sorry you got laid off :(

2:14 PM
@Memor-X conservatives have responded by redoing this with a picture of pat Tillman (an NFL player who went to fight the war in Afghanistan and was killed by friendly fire) so the left has redone the ad with thanos
@jae24over23 @GottliebShow Someone heard you
Also the Brett kavanaugh hearings are a mess
Trying to find a story with the latest vs twitter threads and it’s tough

@GodEmperorDune Don't forget the whole cover-up the Army tried to do regarding the friendly fire.
It still feels weird for conservatives to be holding up Tillman as an icon, considering what they did to him.

2:30 PM
@GodEmperorDune Oh no. I've heard about suicide by cop before but that was heartbreaking to read. Just finished the first portion.

@Yuuki yes, they treated him horribly back then

2:41 PM
@GodEmperorDune lol

@puzzlepiece87 Yeah, cultural artifacts looted from imperialist days is a... rather thorny issue.
As Egypt is more than willing to let you know.

@GodEmperorDune Also notably the NFL player who went to Afghanistan and was pen pals with Noam Chomsky going off about how illegal the war he was fighting in was

@Yuuki Agreed. The article does a good job of painting the picture of the destruction of the Summer Palace and letting the reader ponder the issue from there.

3:00 PM
> “The government in China doesn't think they're stolen objects,” he said. “They think they belong to them. They won't take it seriously, won't follow the trail. That's the biggest problem.”
... They're so close.
So close.

@GodEmperorDune speaking of this...
Well then

@KevinvanderVelden that's a hoax
you can easily google the feet picutre (twitter.com/IkklesaTwit/status/1036895586497323008)

I'd rather not look at that picture tbh :p

wow how dare you @KevinvanderVelden
I feel betrayed and disappointed
this is why we can't have nice things

3:13 PM
what the fuck is this story:
> That’s because Tucker’s court-appointed attorney David B. Smith, who was representing him alongside another attorney in post-conviction proceedings, admitted in an affidavit that he intentionally sabotaged his client’s case by missing an appeals deadline.

“I decided that Mr. Tucker deserved to die, and I would not do anything to prevent his execution,” explained Smith in an affidavit at the time. ”I shared with my therapist my feelings and the consequences of my inaction, but I could not bring myself to act in a professional and responsible manner.”
how is this man still a member of the North Carolina Bar Association

@Unionhawk Yupppp
> He invoked a phrase that, in the American South, is loaded with fraught meaning. Outside agitator harks back to the Civil Rights Movement, when critics used it to discredit Martin Luther King Jr.’s legitimacy as an organizer.
I didn't know about that.
> King addressed the phrase in “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” penned in April 1963. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly,” King wrote. “Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial ‘outside agitator’ idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.”
I'll remember that.

letter from birmingham jail rules
(though I'll admit that I need to read the whole thing now since I didn't know "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" came from it, the parts that usually come up are the "those who prefer absence of disorder to presence of justice are actively holding us back")

@Unionhawk seriously i dunno how tf he has escaped professional repercussions

> After Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad launched a chemical attack on civilians in April 2017, Trump called Mattis and said he wanted to assassinate the dictator. “Let’s fucking kill him! Let’s go in. Let’s kill the fucking lot of them,” Trump said, according to Woodward.

@GodEmperorDune Totally normal professional association
PADI would Definitely Do The Same Thing For Me
(addendum: no they wouldn't lol)
(there was a whole several hours of "here's when PADI will come to your legal defense in a pro liability case: 1) if you were operating 100% within standards")

3:30 PM
The whole article is insane, and it's truly scary to know the amount of power this unstable moron has

(but it's an if and only if situation so that's one of the big advantages of being a member aside from "being allowed to conduct PADI programs", you essentially retain a lawyer always)

@MadScientist yeah :/

Bilingual statement from mother detained and on #hungerstrike at #NWDC #Tacoma #PrisonStrike #week3 #AbolishICE #Chingalamigra Español Estuve 11 meses en federal prisión en Seattle por haber regresado a este... https://www.facebook.com/NWDCResistance/posts/1962553403805530

> Woodward describes “an administrative coup d’etat” and a “nervous breakdown” of the executive branch, with senior aides conspiring to pluck official papers from the president’s desk so he couldn’t see or sign them.
> After Trump left the meeting, Woodward recounts, “Mattis was particularly exasperated and alarmed, telling close associates that the president acted like — and had the understanding of — ‘a fifth- or sixth-grader.’ ”
> White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly frequently lost his temper and told colleagues that he thought the president was “unhinged,” Woodward writes. In one small group meeting, Kelly said of Trump: “He’s an idiot. It’s pointless to try to convince him of anything. He’s gone off the rails. We’re in Crazytown. I don’t even know why any of us are here. This is the worst job I’ve ever had.”
Well looks like Mueller shouldn't have a hard time finding people to flip on trump, because this is completely unreal

> “I’ll be a real good witness,” Trump told Dowd, according to Woodward.

“You are not a good witness,” Dowd replied. “Mr. President, I’m afraid I just can’t help you.”

The next morning, Dowd resigned.

3:45 PM
> Cohn, a Wall Street veteran, tried to tamp down Trump’s strident nationalism regarding trade. According to Woodward, Cohn “stole a letter off Trump’s desk” that the president was intending to sign to formally withdraw the United States from a trade agreement with South Korea. Cohn later told an associate that he removed the letter to protect national security and that Trump did not notice that it was missing.
Emphasis mine

A very good and stable genius president

reminds me of a bloody dilbert sketch where dilbert says rather than do the stupid request his pointy hair boss requests he could just wait a week and he'll forget

There's so many different insane things in the article, and probably more of that once the book is released

> Under orders from the president, Porter drafted a notification letter withdrawing from NAFTA. But he and other advisers worried that it could trigger an economic and foreign relations crisis. So Porter consulted Cohn, who told him, according to Woodward: “I can stop this. I’ll just take the paper off his desk.”

@Wipqozn That's a reasonable tactic I've used myself

3:47 PM
@MadScientist yeah it's like the last 2 years of news but with extra wildness thrown in

Cohn came to regard the president as “a professional liar” and threatened to resign in August 2017 over Trump’s handling of a deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville. Cohn, who is Jewish, was especially shaken when one of his daughters found a swastika on her college dorm room.

Trump was sharply criticized for initially saying that “both sides” were to blame. At the urging of advisers, he then condemned white supremacists and neo-Nazis, but almost immediately told aides, “That was the biggest fucking mistake I’ve made” and the “worst speech I’ve ever given,” according to Woodward
Too lazy to quuote that one

@MadScientist lol

@Wipqozn yes this i think is the worst part of it i've seen

@Wipqozn Oh man, Trump thinks that was the worst speech he's ever given?

I mean it's also horrifying because he has the nuclear codes but

3:48 PM
@Yuuki worst speech on many sides

> Woodward recounts repeated episodes of anxiety inside the government over Trump’s handling of the North Korean nuclear threat. One month into his presidency, Trump asked Dunford for a plan for a preemptive military strike on North Korea, which rattled the combat veteran.

@GodEmperorDune Agreed. His worst speech was saying nazis were bad? Sorry Trump supporters, tell me again about how he isn't a racist.

@TimStone At this point, I'm pretty sure someone just bought a briefcase from the nearest department store, slapped a post-it note that reads "NUCLEAR FOOTBALL" on it, and gave it to Trump as a permanent placeholder.
Alternately, they gave him an actual football.

Honestly the only saving grace is that he has to remember which of the confirmation codes are valid

@Yuuki not necessary. They can just ignore a launch command and Trump will forget about it anyway

3:50 PM
> “You’re a goddamn staffer!” Bannon screamed at her, telling her that she had to work through Priebus like other aides. “You walk around this place and act like you’re in charge, and you’re not. You’re on staff!”

> Ivanka Trump, who had special access to the president and worked around Priebus, replied: “I’m not a staffer! I’ll never be a staffer. I’m the first daughter.”

@MadScientist Well played.

Sorry but no, that's not a bloody thing

@Wipqozn That's dumb on both sides.

@Wipqozn You don't want it to be a thing, you mean :P

I can't wait for the Senators to come out of this Kavanaugh hearing thinking they're going to be asked about that, heh

3:52 PM
@puzzlepiece87 No as in, I'm pretty sure it's not a thing
Last time I checked America wasn't a bloody monarchy

Yes, First Daughter is not a thing. But also, Bannon, your boss is Trump.

so children don't get inheritance rights
There's no Prince or Princess of America

@Wipqozn The reality is that she does pretty much what she wants and Bannon is gone, so I'm not sure if you're right about this xD

@puzzlepiece87 Well that's horrifying then

@Wipqozn Welcome to 2018 :D

3:53 PM
WMAQ: Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel unexpectedly announces that he will not be running for re-election

@TimStone "unexpectedly"

I can't believe he still has a 40% approval rating

I think an important thing to note about approval ratings is that probably like 75% of the country pays absolutely no attention to what's going on outside of their immediate bubble so unless any controversy bleeds through with a sufficient level of detail it might as well not exist

@Wipqozn racism is a helluva drug

@GodEmperorDune Apparantly

3:56 PM
Like for all the "MSM is lying!" there's also a lot of people who literally just don't watch the news

@TimStone this too

I really hope we don't have 6 more years of this

@Wipqozn That's a horrifying thought

@SaintWacko At this point who knows.
His supporters will never stop supporting him
So it's up to either him being impeached or democrats coming out in large enough numbers in the right states

@TimStone hell yeah
Maybe things can be different

4:03 PM
Yeah just wait until he announces a presidential bid lol

this is exactly what people thought before he announced his first run

@TimStone lolsob

At least he failed at destroying CTU lol
get owned rahm
Congratulations to next Chicago mayor barrack obama

@Unionhawk Do you know if there are any progressive candidates in the race?

I don't no
It's a February 2019 election with an April runoff

4:16 PM
Would you consider the police chief he fired as progressive? (No, no you would not, but lol of course that's happening)

Yeah there's a solid handful of almost definitely bad candidates
Also notably the former CEO of Chicago public schools
Yes Chicago public schools has a CEO

I was just Googling too, and yeah, I don't see a lot of promise in the race.

Grassley: I don't get why you're upset you have more documents for Kavanaugh than for anyone else consider this a reminder to always teach selection bias...
lol
"Look I gave you a lot of paper, not the paper with the really incriminating stuff on it but it's like so many stacks of paper"
It's just amazing to me that they couldn't convince Trump to pick one of the other candidates who would have also accomplished their agenda but with less baggage, because he wanted the "Ah yes the President is actually now god" guy

@Unionhawk @TimStone A progressive candidate (Chuy Garcia) who gave Emmanuel his biggest challenge last time won the Democratic primary for House instead. Pro-M4A and anti-ICE. So that's probably good news for the country even though it's bad news for Chicago.

We'll see

4:23 PM
DC Circuit court has expeditiously ordered enforcement of their ruling from last month that the Trump EPA can't delay chemical plant safety rules
Amazon also now worth $1 trillion
Former US Senator Jon Kyl appointed by Ducey to fill vacancy
> He is respected among seasoned Republicans and is leading President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, through the confirmation process. Last year, Kyl was the “sherpa” for Jeff Sessions’ contentious nomination to become attorney general.
#Resist or whatever
"Unfortunately, we have all these interest groups streaming from the sidelines and putting pressure on my Democratic colleagues to make this hearing about politics," @senorrinhatch says. https://t.co/39rRTDKCe8
wat

@TimStone did you really describe your ideal political committee meeting as not being about politics?

@TimStone Anyway so this should definitely also be an issue, that the dude advising Kavanaugh will now get to vote to confirm him but nothing matters so
@GodEmperorDune I can't even, honestly

@TimStone So if Orrin Hatch wants all politics out of Kavanaugh's confirmation, shouldn't that mean he should abstain from the confirmation vote on the basis of him being a politician?

Bullshitters keep bullshitting, news at 11

And then every other politician should also abstain from confirmation.

4:35 PM
@Yuuki That would follow, gonna have to shut the whole show down I'm afraid

Geoffrey Owens speaks: “There is no job that’s better than another job. It might pay better, it might have better benefits, it might look better on a resume and on paper. But actually, it’s not better. Every job is worthwhile and valuable.” https://people.com/tv/cosby-show-actor-geoffrey-owens-proud-working-trader-joes/

A striking detail from the last Supreme Court battle: the Judicial Crisis Network received a donation of $28.475 million from a single anonymous donor that fueled its campaign to confirm Neil Gorsuch. https://maplight.org/story/tax-returns-identify-dark-money-organization-as-source-of-gop-supreme-court-attacks/
Alright, two things here
1. lol money in politics

(context: fox news and the daily mail did a "ohhhhh look at this actor who has a job bagging groceries" and then the internet was "umm working a job is not a bad thing, wut u doing")

2. What sort of sociopath donates $28.475 million instead of $28.5 million?

@TimStone 25k transaction fees

4:37 PM
Ah, I will actually accept that

@TimStone Motion of privilege: Harrin Otch the Senate parlimentarian explains to me that this is not a valid motion of privilege
and also that the correct first word there would be "question"

Pegged to this Woodward thing, my fav request for comment to Trump/team trump is still now and forever @timkmak reaching out to ask Hope Hicks for a Trump comment on Sam Nunberg…
lol
(click thru for the rest of the story)

@GodEmperorDune What if your e. Plotrd
Gosh darn it
I was trying to rage
FFG HD
I was trying to take a job at fox news
I GIVE UP
IMAGINE THE JOKE
IT WAS CLEVER AND OBVIOUS

@Wipqozn urgh can't star non news items

Oh lol I didn't realize regular order was a privileged motion, that makes sense
What is roberts rules

4:49 PM
anyway to pull a nice quote from that interview:
> “I hope that this period that we’re in now, where we have a heightened sensitivity about that, and a reevaluation of what it means to work and the idea that some jobs are better than others — that’s actually not true,” he said. “There is no job that’s better than another job. It might pay better, it might have better benefits, it might look better on a resume and on paper. But actually, it’s not better. Every job is worthwhile and valuable.”

@GodEmperorDune Frankly even if someone disagrees with this then job shaming is still shitty

@Wipqozn i agree, work is hard enough without throwing in extra bullshit on top of it
that's not to say that we don't have a long way to go on making more jobs pay better and have better benefits (or maybe have the benefits detached from working entirely)

@GodEmperorDune Having recently switched jobs I can say that dealing with moving pension around was a huge pain, and due to how benefits tend to work people do seem to be punished for job changing, so I agree the current system needs work on that front
And everyone should have benefits is just a given as far as I'm concerned
So that part isn't even a discussion

@Wipqozn yeah here in the US we get that headache but with health insurance too

@GodEmperorDune Shitty

5:03 PM
@GodEmperorDune Which has been shown to lower mobility, hurt the economy, etc. even more.

@puzzlepiece87 exactly
(in addition to the obvious making worker's lives more difficult)

1 hour later…
6:07 PM
Fred Guttenberg, the father of Jamie Guttenberg who was killed in the shooting in Parkland, Fla., left, tries to shake hands with @realDonaldTrump's Supreme Court nom., Brett Kavanaugh, right, during a lunch break. Kavanaugh did not shake his hand. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik) @ap
I'm kinda meh on whether this situation even made sense but it's still quite a photo

6:22 PM
"Chaos descends as Senate hearing on Trump's high court nominee opens" - reuters.com/article/us-usa-court-kavanaugh/…

:cool:

Their continued refusal to release more documents makes it very obvious they're trying to hide something

6:47 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if, at the end of the day, Collins and Murkowski decide to not confirm Kavanaugh but he gets through anyways because some dumbass Democratic senator(s) wants to "appeal to moderates".

I wouldn't be surprised if it goes 54-46
er, 53-46
I think
numbers

i'd see it sailing through like 98-2 because of dem's frustrating lack of a spine

Eh,

"well they released all the papers so we agreed to vote for him"

lol
dammit
there's like, a 70% chance all of these documents are unexciting

6:51 PM
withholding documents to own the libs is too ecks dee chess for me

court documents show that judge kavanaugh is not actually a good carpool dad and the NYT article to that effect is a fabrication

documents show that kavanaugh only said 13 of the 14 words and therefore trump has removed him from consideration

yeah, gotta specify 'white' for it to count brett
(not really, 'our' is fairly close)
documents released late tuesday night reveal that the nominee "looks like a fam"

documents show that the nominee "liked" a tweet by dril regarding "turning into a corncob"

Documents reveal that the nominee has, on occasion, used paprika to season potato salad.

7:00 PM
@Yuuki "season"

@GodEmperorDune That kind of move won't fly the conservative base.

@Yuuki 2spicy4me

@Unionhawk also lmao at some of these filings, "on or about June 16 2015, Individual #1 began his presidential campaign"
who could individual #1 be
:thinking:

@Unionhawk Jeb!

@Unionhawk Is this the same individual #1 who was president of the USA on or around January 2017?

7:05 PM
yeah I think later on it mentions the fact that Individual #1 was the president of the united states
you know, that job that anyone could have

7:27 PM
the jury found the defendant guilty of misdemeanor assault and battery of jason kessler at his post-A12 press conference last year and sentenced him to a fine of one dollar.

@Unionhawk Strictly speaking, two different people were president of the United States on or around January 2017, and multiple people started their presidential campaigns in mid 2015. But only one person is in both of those groups.

@GodEmperorDune Half pedantic, half happy: I'm under the impression that juries only decide (rather than recommend) punishments in civil cases. If Winder actually has been sentenced to a fine of $1 and I am correct, then the judge decided on it. If so, I'm happy that there is at least one anti-Nazi judge.
@murgatroid99 flashes pedantic club sign
@Yuuki Did you see the Chinese kindergarten pole dance news? Loooool

@puzzlepiece87 no but that sounds horrible

@Yuuki Someone thought back to school night needed to be livened up a bit hahahaha
(Said someone is now fired)

@puzzlepiece87 ಠ_ಠ

7:41 PM
@Yuuki Depends on how horrible it is to expose kindergartners to someone pole dancing. I'm not a parent and open-minded on the topic, but I'd initially classify it as "certainly not ideal but not traumatizing"

Also depends on what you mean by "pole dancing".

This is coming from an American perspective where people flipped out about the Justin Timberlake/Janet Jackson routine when I was growing up.
(And I thought concerns were hypocritical/over the top)
@GodEmperorDune Confirmed it's just a jury recommendation.

8:24 PM
STANDBY: @TheDCVince and I just completed an exclusive interview with @POTUS in the Oval Office. Topics incl Woodward, Kaepernick, Neil Armstrong, Mueller, Declassification, Access Hollywood, NBC, the Catholic Church, and more. Stories to come on @DailyCaller...
lol I'm sure this won't be stupid
Republicans not happy with Trump reportedly calling Sessions a "dumb southerner" and "mentally retarded." "I resent that," Isakson of Georgia told me. "Totally inappropriate," Ron Johnson said

@TimStone see ted cruz

It would be extremely on point for them to turn on Trump for his "liberal-like attacks on Southerners" and a reminder that everyone is actually terrible

@TimStone Yes but also, Trump literally accused Cruz's father of the JFK assassination and I'm pretty sure called his wife a whore. And Cruz proceeded to roll over and <various euphemisms for surrender> in the general election.
They won't reject Trump, they'll take whatever sloppy handouts he gives them.

@Yuuki Yeah but no one likes Ted
Man who dismembered his wife's body took the stand in his own preliminary hearing. That rarely happens in Johnson County. https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article217795885.html
Okay him taking the stand might be unusual but his defense is even more so 🤔
welp, a crazy story just got crazier. on the day a trial was set to start, State Farm has agreed to pay $250M to settle a lawsuit claiming it effectively installed its own justice on the Illinois Supreme Court: https://www.law360.com/legalethics/articles/1079406/breaking-state-farm-to-pay-250m-to-settle-rigged-judge-trial
(a thread, the link is paywalled)

@TimStone Not really the parallel I was trying to draw.
If Cruz isn't going to actually stand up for his own family, I don't expect anyone else in the GOP to stand up for something more vague like principles.

8:40 PM
I know, but my point was that while you could easily be right Ted Cruz is not a good example because he'll do anything to get people to pay attention to him
I think you're right for other reasons of course just not that he serves as a particular example
Spain cancels bombs sale to Saudi Arabia amid Yemen concerns @ap reports https://www.defensenews.com/air/2018/09/04/spain-cancels-bombs-sale-to-saudi-arabia-amid-yemen-concerns/#.W47r22T4bNs.twitter
btw that "Kavanaugh's assistant is flashing a white power sign" take is terrible and should go immediately into the sea
Why can't we just stick to the plenty of real criticisms? Why do people have to take it off the rails? 😐

8:57 PM
Lol Chuck Todd op-ed on The Atlantic about the press fighting back
Dude can't even stop inviting and getting owned by Kellyanne Conway
Fix your own backyard first buddy

Kavanaugh, speaking about his work on the DC Circuit, praises "our superb chief judge, Merrick Garland."
🙄
the @NFL has a comment on @nike, @Kaepernick7 developments. #SportsBiz
Heh

@TimStone Well played NFL, I was moderately expecting another own goal here.
Probably easier to be gracious when you've colluded the guy out of the league though.

@TimStone to be pedantic, kavanaugh's assistant is doing a joke that is popular to do in white supremacist circles... so it's kind of illustrative either way

I don't think she was actually doing anything, is the thing

@TimStone it's just a weird way to place your hand on your arm when you are on national tv, especially with a knowing smile
in any case, kavanaugh is still a hot mess from problematic previous decisions he's rendered, whether his assistant is a white supremacist or not is immaterial

9:12 PM
Eh, I legitimately just think she had her finger and thumb on her arm and the angle makes it look like something it's not. But yeah, the point is we know who these people are regardless
@TimStone lol Trump comments on this in the Daily Caller interview saying Nike is a tenant of his but they haven't been for months

@TimStone holy shit this is still news?
as in this is still a thing that's going on?

@TimStone jfc is he still high?

@Yuuki Hahah yes, yes it is!

@Yuuki HE KEEPS DOING IT

You thought he'd quit but he's hooked!

9:18 PM
This doesn't look like it'll end well.

azaelia banks did a number on him

The 100% absolute worst thing that could happen at this point is that we find out the cave diver inexplicably was a pedophile despite there being no original basis for that claim
Just think of all the horrors that would set in motion

oh no this is the moment that determines if we eventually have a president musk or not, isn't it?

Yeah probably assuming we don't go full fash first
Well, he'd still have to win the bloodsport match with Bezos
Since The Corporations will compete for control at that point

lol. i didn't realize that elon literally EMAILED THIS DIRECTLY TO BUZZFEED

9:25 PM
@GodEmperorDune Directly to Buzzfeed and then directly into our veins.

> Though Musk prefaced one email with “off the record,” BuzzFeed News did not agree to that condition of the correspondence. (Per common journalistic practice, a conversation is off-the-record only if both parties agree to the terms. )

@GodEmperorDune I don't even understand
How hasn't he just let go of this already

i feel a little bit bad for elon but then i remember that he has more than enough money to have a PR team or someone to tell him to stop doing dumb things

...Putin has on Trump

when a reporter emails you, the CEO, for comment, you refer them to the PR dept or lawyer or w/e who is paid for such things

9:28 PM
@SaintWacko Took me awhile to realize where this was coming from.

@TimStone Err, scratch this, apparently?
The judge has walked back the order

@TimStone "lol disregard that, dump the pollution right here in the courtroom"

@SaintWacko I like that you want to make politics limited to TIF, but it does break the flow of conversation

Also said there's "questions" about the the tape and that it was illegally recorded/leaked https://dailycaller.com/2018/09/04/trump-nbc-weinstein-access-hollywood/

The #NFL season will start this week, unfortunately once again @Kaepernick7 is not on a NFL roster. Even though he is one of the best Quarterbacks in the league. #ColinKaepernick #NFL

lmfao no way
It is so absurd that reality has legitimately horrible people on Twitter trolling like there's no tomorrow

@Unionhawk ... this is verified.

10:01 PM
Yeah no that's 100% Ahmadinejad

“Careful,” a White House official wrote in an email that was sent to Brett Kavanaugh. “These e-mails will all be disclosed in 12 years.” “Not if Brett can help it,” another White House official responded. https://wapo.st/2wKziSk?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.fc467ebd5d6b

@Yuuki I would never give you fake Ahmadinejad

@Unionhawk that real Ahmadinejad signed up to twitter with the equivalent of an AIM name is so much lulz

@GodEmperorDune Way worse than checks notes literal AIM name puzzlepiece87

@puzzlepiece87 yeah but you're not a world leader

@GodEmperorDune :(

10:12 PM
@GodEmperorDune lol @ahmadinejad is an apparent parody account opened in 2007

Caching issue or @jack shenanigans?
Okay, so I've seen a lot of people upset because their followers are liking DJT's stuff. This is a thing that Twitter is now doing to attempt to make us 'get out of our bubbles.' Oh, and they totally didn't like his tweets. Since last night, I've checked seven cases of this.

I'm torn
On the one hand, none of that even makes sense. On the other hand, it seems like the kind of terrible execution Twitter would pull

right?

But I'm leaning towards the former because like, why would they show you a Trump tweet for that purpose? Everyone knows his account exists, everyone hears about the crap he tweets already
It doesn't even seem to meet the objective
I don't think the poster there is making things up either, but it wouldn't surprise me if Twitter erroneously collapsed the likes
Like people liked other people who quote-tweeted that Trump tweet and they're like "Ah, well, it must be about the quoted tweet"

replies seem to suggest it is extremely poor UX

10:21 PM
Ah yeah, so what I thought
lol classic Twitter

like who figured that liking a dunk quote tweet would mean that you like the underlying tweet?

They're not good at this

especially when if you do, you just have to click into the quote and then like the original

"No one ever uses our platform for anything but providing helpful additional context" - Someone at Twitter probably
The other possibility is that they just couldn't be bothered to create a new feature and shoehorned it into a "like"
"The display is the same and explaining it would be too wordy so just whatever show it as if those people liked it"

quote tweet is the most terrible of the twitter UX

10:39 PM
This is literally the reshare bug in G+ which has existed for as long as G+ has had a reshare command and which everyone hates
(if someone reshares a post and someone else reshares the reshare it ends up resharing the original post instead)
Apparently twitter looked at this and went "yes, this is a good idea, we should be more like popular and successful social media platform G+"

i liked G+ but no one was on it

It's pretty active inside google, which is why I have now used it enough to go from indifference to active frustration and dislike
There's a good platform in there somewhere, but...

I liked G+ but then it was abandoned.
So I wiped my profile.
@ToxicFrog Good enough for Alex Jones....

10:58 PM
@puzzlepiece87 speaking of which, apparently his traffic is down since the bans

Hot take: Nike decided to do the campaign with Kaepernick, figuring that people would "protest" by buying shoes to burn.

@Yuuki literally a hot take
