That'll get shut down quickly.

@forest With the current SCOTUS? not so sure. I believe a federal court has already ruled in the past that "in god we trust" does not indicate the endorsement of a religion

@Nzall It has.

7 hours later…
8:35 PM
and it is inscribed on the penny

9:16 PM
Oh, good point. Damn.

1 hour later…
10:32 PM
I think it's on all US currency

11:30 PM
Correct
It's the official motto of the United States and the state of Florida
Adopted by Congress in 1956
Similar mottos exist in other states, Ohio is "with god all things are possible"
Which is just Matthew 19:26
Often translated as "through god etc"

The Supreme Court has never ruled on any aspect of government use of "In God We Trust," and the phrase appears only as an aside in a few of the Court's opinions. Source Wikipedia]16]

AZ is "Ditat Deus" ("God Enriches"), CO is "Nil sine Numine" ("Nothing without the Deity" per committee reports), SD is "under god the people rule", I believe that's it
They've never overturned it nor upheld it that's true because it hasn't actually been challenged I assume
The court doesn't like, review everything
They still are the ultimate giga veto usually for the worse but they don't get involved until someone complains

11:50 PM
True.

Which is why the court has a symbiotic relationship with the conservative legal movement

Good point.

That's horrifying.

That's just the way it is...
...as Phil Collins sang.
