@forest Trumpers aren't exactly the smartest people, after all how many of them got caught for jan 6 because they posted on social media
and i'm not talking about just law enforcement. i recall one guy got fired from his job because he faked a sicky

Faked a sicky?

@forest sorry, maybe just an Australian term. it's means faking a sick day. so you call up, say your sick to get the day off when really you just wanted a day off

ah

speaking of faking sickies. about a couple of weeks ago someone took that to the dumbest extreme
> 03:06 - Lollapalooza Security Guard Reports Fake Threat to Leave Work Early

Some years ago a Harvard student faked a bomb threat to get out of some exam.
He used Tor, but he was also the only person who used Tor at the time the bomb threat email was sent, so he was quickly found out.

yeh, also a stupid thing to do. though unlike this guard the student wouldn't be expected to resolve the situation unlike a guard

Donald Trump's campaign to oust congressional Republicans who supported his impeachment gets its last major test of the U.S. midterm primary season on Tuesday, when Liz Cheney and Lisa Murkowski face challengers backed by the former president. reuters.com/world/us/…

> Already they threaten to launch potentially damaging investigations into his administration should they win.
....but only if they win
because you've gotta have something to vote them in for!
they'll definitely keep their promises this time too
i mean this story doesn't seem like trump on a lengthy campaign to annihilate opposition
he just picked someone who isn't obviously against him

@Corsaka Really it seems more that the republicans yeah have protrump candidates to maybe oust their anti trump people, but they give minimal effort promoting them.
Guess they might think its a given they go in
Like the story that Trump was promoting his pro trump candidate in a primary by saying 'Go mark!' at a rally. There are 3 marks in that primary

Seven U.S. Western states that share Colorado River water are poised to miss a federal deadline for drastic consumption cuts amid a megadrought. reuters.com/business/environment/…
> Citing "dangerously low" water levels at Lake Mead and Lake Powell, federal officials called on states to cut their overall usage of Colorado River water by 2 million to 4 million acre-feet of water per year, an unprecedented reduction of 15% to 30% in the coming year.
> The lakes hover at around 25% of capacity. If they fall much lower they will be unable to generate hydroelectric power for millions in the West, and also will not allow water to flow downstream.
> The Colorado River compact assumes the river would have roughly 20 million acre-feet of water each year. The river's actual flow the past two decades has averaged 12.5 million acre-feet, leaving state water managers with more rights on paper than water that exists in the river.

‘Florida is the place where woke goes to die,’ DeSantis says wfla.com/news/pasco-county/…
> Gov. Ron DeSantis visited Pasco County Tuesday morning to discuss teacher recruitment efforts. While in New Port Richey, he spoke about Florida’s new curriculum and efforts to keep indoctrination and ideology out of the state’s schools, and pushed back on medical board efforts to include gender dysphoria care for minors.

> During the news conference, DeSantis spoke about reopening schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, not forcing students to be vaccinated, and the state’s viewpoint that pandemic lockdown efforts should be focused on science and data, not on political ideology and partisa
Wouldn't requiring vaccines be focused on science?
> He said places like Washington, D.C., had retained vaccination requirements, at the expense of excluding children from school based on “a mandate that has no basis in science or fact.” The governor said lockdown policies hurt low-income students the most.
Just lying through his teeth at this point. The lockdown thing hurting low-income students the most is true, but somehow, I doubt you care about low-income students...
I mean you did cut $200 million in funding to public schooling that would also hurt low-income students the most... oh, and your anti-LGBT policies probably hurt low-income students the most too.

@Wipqozn i wish we could get back the meaning of the word "woke" before it got bastardized by the right

I wish we could get back to not using the term "woke" at all.
