2:39 AM
Keep in mind that the West has been hoarding and discarding vaccine doses so
That's probably related to why the virus is striving in South Africa

4 hours later…
6:47 AM
woah
today I learned that at some point US Customs used to covertly install transponders with code 1236 on aircraft suspected of being used for illegal activity so they would show up on the scope with "SUSP" in the data block
this tracking method is apparently obsolete and not in use as of 2009
but still
neat
(FAA systems recognize and tag up certain beacon codes, 7500-Hijack, 7600-Radio failure, 7700-Emergency, 7777-Military intercept, and apparently formerly 1236-Suspect aircraft)
(I guess the procedure when you observed a suspect aircraft moving would be to... call US Customs?)

9 hours later…
3:35 PM
Or just log it for later investigation.

3:57 PM
It looks like that yeah
Or call a supervisor or something like that, it's deleted from the 7110 now obviously since that method is no longer in use
And the errata was something like, delete a paragraph from the responsibilities of an Operational Manager
