> Last year, the bosses of CD Projekt Red approached me for an interview. They wanted to announce that for Cyberpunk 2077, they would be avoiding mandatory crunch.
> This week, they sent out an email to staff announcing studio-wide mandatory crunch. News: https://t.co/s4OI5rUiQq

CDPR is such a trash company.
The gaming community just loves giving them a free pass on treating their employees like shit just because they're obsessed with the Witcher.
Seeing users defending CDPR is completely unreal
The entire dev team should just strike, until they delay the game

@Wipqozn was hoping this wouldn't be the case so that if Cyberpunk becames a major success, they can shit on every other studio who thinks they need crunch to get things done

1:25 AM
I have debate suggestions
Suggestion one (give the mods a mute button and a points button)

I am a strong proponent of Thunderdome

will need to adjust that chant for being more open since it may not be just 2 men
ie. currently it's one man and one carrot child

I am becoming the joker by not following my own advice of muting a discord debate watch channel

1:46 AM
OH FUCK!! Biden! Nooooooooooooooooooo!
Normally, I immediately respond positively to a person who naturally and genuinely laughs at well-played one-liners at their own expense. That tendency exposes to the world all kinds of good in that person.
But
But that very thing is tying Biden's tongue.
Biden's grin to Trump's "Cause no one would show up" was charming.
But then he totally lost the opportunity to totally nail Trump on his taxes. I mean, the set-up was perfect.
Harris would have handed Trump his balls on that one. Game. Set. Match.
I want to see Pres and VP team debates.

2:45 AM
> Question from Wallace: Will you pledge that you will not declare victory until the election has been independently certified?
DT: "I’m urging my voters to go into the polls and watch very carefully…."
JB: "Yes."
A Yes or No question with an obvious fucken answer

3 hours later…
@Memor-X The video won't load for me

@Nzall don't know if it's geoblocked. this might work. it's the video in the reel titled "Biden to Trump: 'Will you shut up, man?'". goes on for a bit longer

@TimStone Heel Depot

@Nzall someone else just told me it is
will trigger a download for a ~2mb file but it's the video from the tweet

7:15 AM
Just waking up, I assume the debate was a respectful, jovial affair, so I'm not going to read anything about it.

7:41 AM
@fredley Highlight was Biden telling Trump "will you just shut up"

3 hours later…
11:09 AM
@Nzall Okay, that sounds awesome
But I assume the whole thing was a disaster

@Wipqozn yeah, Biden yelled that at Trump (and then called him a clown), but that was while Trump was constantly interrupting Biden when Biden had the microphone

11:26 AM
So CDPR responded to the crunch story, and everyone is licking their fucking boots.
"Good luck!" "Hugs!"

Eugh
"I'm going to say I care but not actually ask you to provide your employees with healthy working hours because, you see, I'm excited about a video game"

The reddit threads just as bad
If this was EA people would be losing their minds

yeah
It's sad to see
What's with the BS people are repeating
"A delay would lead to more crunch"
What?

11:41 AM
So, basically, they would just force the devs to crunch anyway in addition to delaying the game.
Which okay they would
but hey about, like, you cause an uproar and tell CDPR to delay and NOT crunch?
as opposed to "OH WELL"

No, no, delays cause crunch
Apparently
Because shut up and give me my game, I imagine

I mean, yeah, crunch definitely sucks and it's a plague on this industry, but it's so widespread in the industry that while it's definitely okay to whine about it, taking it into account when making purchasing choices locks out nearly every AAA studio and most of the AA and indies
and that's not a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Solving crunch should be a legislation issue, not a consumer issue
Like, as a consumer I can't do anything about crunch in the companies that make the games I buy, apart from essentially no longer playing videogames

I'm not saying you can't buy the game. I'm personally not a big believer in "vote with your wallet", because consumers shouldn't be the ones responsible for policing companies...that's why governments exist.

My issue is that we shouldn't just sit back and go "OH WELL" or "IT's okay! GOOD LUCK!". We should be calling them out, and demanding they do better.
In Trump racism news:
This thing was a bloody disaster
I can't believe Trump's going to win again

12:01 PM
@Wipqozn And he's going to do it with armed militias at polling places intimidating black voters!
I say intimidating with an air of hope!

He's not even trying to hide the fact he plans to steal the election.
He keeps refusing to give a "yes" answer to "Will you respect the election results."

Even if he loses this time, there's always 2024!

Honestly I just think he'll be in office forever, or his family, unless they're forcible removed from office.

@fredley How bold of you to assume the country won't have dissolved into civil war by then

I think there's a very real possibility of civil war breaking out in US within the next year. He's stoking the flames for it.
Damn it @Nzall you stole my thunder
STOLE IT I SAY
Also that's sarcasm
Just pointing that out since I know you have trouble detecting it sometimes. Just don't want you to think I'm actually mad at you.

12:06 PM
@Wipqozn I got that it was sarcasm

RIP Western Democracy, had a pretty good run

Just making sure.
@fredley eh

'Leader of the free World' used to actually be the case. Who leads the free World now (Not us!, Not US either!)

Like, for me it's the really subtle sarcasm or the believable sarcasm that's the problem. It was obvious that your comment was meant humourously because of the word choice
Like, "stole my thunder, STOLE IT I SAY" is too dramatic for you

@Nzall Wait
That's how Wipqozn usually speaks in mod councils

12:09 PM
Or rather, too dramatic for use in this chatroom for your usual words
@Wrigglenite as I said: dramatic words like that usually only said in ostentatious drama displays, and even then usually when that drama is played for laughs

@Wrigglenite I'm a very serious person all the time.

@Wipqozn I assume that's sarcasm again?

@Nzall Yes

if (wipqozn) { assume(tone == jocular) }

if (fredley) { assume(plan == friday troll) }

12:19 PM
@fredley someone obvious woke up on the wrong side of the bed and hit their head forgetting what the past 4 years have been like
and even if you didn't, still wouldn't prepare you

@fredley yeh, remember when you're biggest issue was Brexit

*weeps in British*

@Memor-X Best comeback at Brexit still is Switzerland looking at the Brexit misery for 4 years and then voting stay in the free movement zone by like 63-37%
Because they do NOT want that shitshow

EUnity has never been stronger
We took one for the team there
well done us
Doing it for the greater good
(the greater good)

12:27 PM
@fredley you took one for the team from a problem noone knew existed. You didn't leave a mark on history, you fist kissed it
context:

@Wipqozn Biden still has a pretty healthy advantage in the polls, might even be enough to make any attempts to cheat futile
you have to steal each state separately, and it gets dramatically more difficult if it's not a very close vote

1 hour later…
1:37 PM
> The Proud Boys, a far-right extremist group, pledged allegiance to President Donald Trump on Tuesday night after he told the group to "stand back and stand by" during the first presidential debate.
full context:
> Trump was asked by debate moderator Chris Wallace to disavow white supremacy during a part of the debate focused on race. Wallace asked whether Trump would urge white supremacist groups that inflamed violence at nationwide protests to "stand down."
> Trump said to "give me a name" when asked to denounce a specific group, and former Vice President Joe Biden called out the Proud Boys.
> But Trump did not denounce any far-right or white supremacist groups, and he then pivoted to talk about antifa.
A fitting summary of the event:

@BradC As Biden said right after that: Antifa is a concept, not a group

2:00 PM
Also, they really shouldn't have taken Chris "Fox News Propagandist" Wallace as the moderator, because it was so obvious he was biased and helpless

Chris Wallace is the least bad person on Fox News but I'm not sure if that's damning him with faint praise.
And I doubt you could get the Trump campaign to agree on another moderator.

@Yuuki It's like saying Pol Pot is the least bad of the dictators who caused over a million deaths
Or that if you had to choose, losing an ear lobe is preferable to losing a different body part. Why am I forced to lose body parts?

@Nzall For everything about the debates, both debate parties have to agree, it's not something mandated by the Constitution.
That's also why the mikes couldn't be cut if someone (cough cough) was interrupting.
Because both parties had to agree to that and one campaign (i wonder who) didn't agree to allowing the mics to be cut off by the moderator.

2:18 PM
> On the Proud Boys' account on the social media app Telegram, the group appeared to take the statement as marching orders.
Because that's exactly what it was
Trump is trying to get these far right extremists and to take our their guns and help him steal an election. Also shoot lefites. Also non-whites.

@Nzall The last Chris Wallace interview with Trump had him turn the screws to effect.
Though I'm surprised that at some point they didn't just cut mics

Yeah, mic cutting seems to be the only way to actually get something resembling a debate
I mean, it's not really a debate anyway, but whatever

> When Trump taunted that Democrats were in the grip of the left—“Your party wants to go socialist medicine”—Biden noted that he prevailed over candidates like Senator Bernie Sanders, who wanted to end private health insurance, and that he has his own energy plan that is different than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal.” But then Trump simply switched his taunt: “You just lost the left! You just lost the left!”
Pretty damning confirmation that Biden has no plans to actually be progressigve.
I mean we already knew that
but yaaay
We're so fucked

no see I don't want people to be able to just go to the fucking doctor without having to pay for it

like even if biden wins, global warming will kill us all anyway, sicne America is never going to address it themselves

2:24 PM
Also RE Wallace: I think Jon Stewart once said to Chris Wallace "I think you bring integrity to an organization [Fox] that otherwise might not have it."
@Wipqozn The hope is the Biden is easier for the left to bully then Trump.

He won't be

@RedRiderX The problem is that Biden represents a large chunk of dems in power though
There's only a few actual progressives in America politics.

You really think Trump is just as easy for lefts to sway as Biden?
From another perspective, I think Biden will send less federal troops to squash protests.

Don't forget its also possible that Biden is simply playing to the middle for the general election

Which would automatically make him easier to face then Trump.

2:27 PM
but will still hold to the progressive ideas that have become popular within the Democratic party
if/when he wins

@BradC He has to, there's no other option when Bernie or Busters are prevalent.

But I think that's more of a "let's cross that bridge when we come to it" situation

They have no interest in crossing the bridge!

As long as Trump is in power and Republicans control the Senate, it isn't even possible to discuss any real issues.

They're going to pivot from "Look, we'll pull him left later" to "Joe  Biden  doesn't  owe  you  anything "

2:29 PM
Biden will be an improvement, but it'll just be a return to the status quo.

Yeah in the same way the Tea Party did a chest-burster on the Republicans, the Left infiltrating the Dems is the most workable strategy at this point.

@Unionhawk I'll take not crossing the bridge over burning the bridge down any day.

Like oh cool we're going to return to 2014 levels of federal troops
fantastic
sounds good

oh cool, let's stay at 2020 levels of federal troops then, that's much better

@Unionhawk That's a distinct possibility, but even that is better then Trump. And while other Socialist forces build power, what other option is there atm?

2:31 PM
prepare for an uptick in state sanctioned violence after november 3

I'm gonna need some clarification on what you see fitting under state sanctioned violence
There could be a lot of things you're referring to.

The police, national guard, etc, plus groups that the police quietly support such as white supremacist gangs

tbh the feds can't do much about the police, and I really can't believe Biden would abuse the federal forces more then Trump already has.

Yep. I'd have to look for the photo, but when the police are lining up between armed right wing militia and BLM protesters, but stand with their shields facing the BLM group, then that pretty much tells you what "side" they are on

But if Trump wins that would be a bulwarking of implicit support so I see your point there.

2:37 PM
@RedRiderX I don't think @Unionhawk is saying Biden will be worse. He's saying a lot of the issues we've seen under Trump already existed before, but under Trump they've just become worse. Essentially Biden will be a return to the 2014 status quo, but that was still bad.
at least, that's my understanding.
And one I agree with. Americas issues existed long before Trump took the stage. He's the symptom, not the cause.

I recognize that, and I'm saying that's still better then 4 more years of Trump.

I agree

It will be exactly as easy to pull joe biden from whatever aca 2 will be to something that resembles taking care of people

I'm not saying it's good, or that he even really deserves support based on policies he's advocated for.

As in it will not be possible, or at least it will be a waste of time
though I grant that aca 2: give the insurance companies more money edition or whatever is probably at least meh
instead of actively bad

2:40 PM
What I'm saying is: don't throw away marginal progress while reaching for long term goals.
We can strive for both.
I grant that the amount of political give we find in Biden is uncertain, but even still it will be easier to build leftist power underneath a non-fashy power.

2:56 PM
@Wipqozn Trump is the culmination of decades of American decline

3:43 PM
Just saw this. Fuck youtube. Glad to see they're doing nothing about what I can only assume is pure hate speech aroudn the lection.

I assume it's all stuff like
actually america is good
(it isn't)
get fact checked nerds

It should take you to the page to report a labour violation

I kinda want to find this nonsense in an incognito tab
because I'm sure it's also stuff like "actually american history education is NOT just propaganda all day, but it should be"

4:50 PM
@Nzall A real "leopards ate my face" moment.

1 hour later…
6:10 PM
New CGP Grey Video!
I swear this belongs here :)

@MBraedley yeah it's a good watch
I just realized that Cyberpunmk 2077 working it's devs to death is very, very thematic.
basically it's this image

5 hours later…
10:58 PM
@Wipqozn that subtitle more or less yells it's going to be toxic
