12:03 AM
@TimStone love to have a supreme court that acts in an entirely non partisan fashion

12:25 AM
Challenge: Watch the Nightmare Before Christmas through the lens of "this is what happens when you culturally appropriate." Have mind blown. Go forth.

12:39 AM
Alright who crossed the streams?
House votes yes to avert shutdown, not sure if this is a CR or?

@TimStone guess the Nigerian Prince gave up

Looks like a CR? Short-term funding
Senior admin official: WH staffers have been examining idea that Trump could issue a tweet late Friday night to say he will sign CR and that would be a signal the government is not shutting down.
What
Like, he'll just sign whatever, so long as they pass something?

Most Dems are in favor of few day CRs while they work it out over the weekend
Iirc

Yeah but they won't pass what the House served up
BREAKING: House votes 230-197 to pass a 1-month gov't funding with a 6-year CHIP extension. 11 Republicans vote NO; 6 Democrats vote YES.
Numbers
They're doing the yOu DoN't WaNt ChIp?! play
A good way to have avoided this situation would have been to not rescind DACA.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Who could have ever foreseen that needless act of cruelty becoming an issue

2 hours later…
3:01 AM
@TimStone what's CR?

Continuing Resolution
Basically pushing back the deadline a week or two, AIUI

WATCH: GOP lawmaker claims without evidence that terrorists were behind Las Vegas shooting http://hill.cm/rZOvYWt
jfc
"How?" you might wonder
If you guessed that he claimed "ISIS came up through the southern border" then you're right
Newsweek offices raided by Manhattan district attorney http://hill.cm/6yQvC4m
When the take is so bad someone calls in the Feds

3:53 AM
@TimStone well wouldn't it be an act or terror anyway thus the nut job would be a terrorist even though they have no affiliation with a group?
@ToxicFrog i would ask why they don't just keep doing that but i don't think it's that easy huh

4:11 AM
Sans-ideology it's just classified as a "mass shooting"

1 hour later…
5:29 AM
...and on the American side of these big-mouthed operators was an equally dimwitted accomplice: Trump's atty, Michael Cohen. These geniuses did things like deny they knew each other... while forgetting to delete their public comments to each other on Twitter and Insta. 14/
This thread is great
It’s the house version of the fusion gps testimony
So, basically, it was a symbiotic fraud initially. Trump needed dirty money as defacto collateral to get financing for buildings... and the launderers needed ways to turn dirty cash into clean assets like real estate. ...but then they added fleecing bystanders to the mix. 28/
I mean I had heard some of this hinted before but holy shit

you'd think that would be enough for some pretty heavy charges

@GodEmperorDune that set of tweets is quite interesting

@quartata testimony of one guy, no matter how reputable, is not enough. You need it from multiple sources, paper trails, that sort of thing
The nice thing about financial records is that some of them get filed to the govt and are either available to the public or available with a subpoena

5:47 AM
At one point Schiff asks Simpson in which direction they should throw subpoenas, this testimony is the starting point, not the end

Like you can go to the county registrar and get basic information about real estate transactions since records were initially kept, every business that registered there, stuff like that
It is all boring, mundane stuff but given enough time you can unravel so much through just that

1 hour later…
6:53 AM
Los Angeles Times publisher under investigation by parent company over alleged misconduct http://www.latimes.com/business/hollywood/la-fi-ct-la-times-ross-levinsohn-publisher-investigation-20180118-story.html
This is more fuct stuff

5 hours later…
12:22 PM
@fredley I would not be surprised if this actually happens in a couple months...

@Arperum It actually happened 2 days ago, but with other names
Google the H&M "coolest monkey in the jungle" controversy

...

where they had a black kid wear "coolest money in the jungle" sweater and a caucasian kid wore a "jungle explorer" T-shirt
@Arperum Is that a "you didn't get my sarcasm" ...?

No mostly a "goddammit reality, please be less stupid"

12:39 PM

12:55 PM
lol

1 hour later…
2:23 PM
@GodEmperorDune Obviouly not. I just meant that unlike most of the other leads, this one is a lot easier to verify without relying on the testimony alone

2:56 PM
wsj pls
holy shit

TELEGRAPH: Boris calls for Bridge across the Channel #tomorrowspaperstoday
And no, that's not a metaphorical bridge
or our bridge

> Trump's new director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reveals plans to back off on a crackdown of payday lenders.

I'm in favour of having The Bridge be on the Channel, that'd be cool.

@Nzall Literally the busiest shipping lane in the world
Building a huge concrete structure in the middle of the world’s busiest shipping lane might come with some challenges. https://twitter.com/hendopolis/status/954110038142062599

leaving the EU and also wanting to essentially create a land border with Europe
sure why not

3:11 PM
@Unionhawk We already have a land border with Europe, and we still don't know what to do about it

lol true
another land border with europe then
what are you going to have a checkpoint drawbridge or some shit

As in, the only way we can leave without causing a war is by leaving the border open, and we can't leave the border open without having regulatory and customs parity with the EU

you think we as in the united states would bomb ireland if it did come to war
like part of me wants to think no but on the other hand like

🤔

REAL ireland is about being a whole stereotype

3:28 PM
/r/gatekeeping

if you're not drinking a Guinness export stout with an irish flag shirt and a green top hat on in an irish pub in boston while punching your mate in the face over a soccer match on St. Patrick's Day, then don't try to tell me what it is to be irish

@Unionhawk oooh giant drawbridge

@KevinvanderVelden or this bridge:
but at a slightly larger scale

Vertical-lifting bridges are also cool

Or they can just make the bridge slowly go up like the one between Denmark and Sweden

3:36 PM
Incredible: The House GOP DACA bill would criminalize legalized Dreamers if they failed to maintain an income insufficiently above the poverty line https://www.cato.org/blog/securing-americas-future-act-net-negative-immigration-system

@Unionhawk What the fuck.
What the actual fuck.

I'm so mad

3:52 PM
"Fuck human rights, how dare they exist?"
That 's probably the next step.
Literally.

And like this is just something they've always wanted
Undocumented persons aren't criminals per se

This is fucked up beyond believe.

So by making violations of immigration law criminal instead of civil offenses, it gives the anti-immigrant right a powerful tool in their belt
In addition to the tools they already have, like, pulling people over for brake lights or front license plates or stuff like that, just up and raiding places of employment because it is illegal to employ undocumented persons
it's an important rhetorical tool more than anything

Also, aren't most of the poorly paid jobs that dreamers are hired for below the poverty line?
so that you need to do like 2 jobs to get there?

It's more economically complicated than that, but I believe generally no
I don't know what the numbers are
But like that analysis isn't particularly important
Like if you're looking at this from a "what's the actual number of people at risk of getting hit with this" instead of "criminalizing poverty in any way shape or form at all for any person is extremely fucked up" then like
apropos of nothing at all, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen opens with an endlessly unfinished, overly bombastic cross-Channel bridge as a symbol of Britain's imperialist delusions and declining significance

4:46 PM
@Unionhawk Ah, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Also known as the League of Extraordinary Rapists. I mean, even for an Alan Moore graphic novel, there is a lot of rape in that one.

4:58 PM
@Nzall isn’t there already a tunnel under the channel?

Yes

5:16 PM
@GodEmperorDune In this brave new world of walls tunnels no longer exist

5:27 PM
News - Trump reached out to Schumer and invited him to WH to try to figure out a deal on spending to avert shutdown, per source briefed
lol
For those keeping score at home there already was a meeting and agreement and then Trump tanked it for god knows why and now here we are

well the only new info i learned from the stormy daniels interview is that trump dangles career opportunities in front of women in order to get sex (well confirmation of what was already known) and that he REALLY hates sharks

Amazingly there were multiple tweets to support that too
NEW: House lawmakers staying in DC with shutdown deadline just hours away http://hill.cm/oWyHXl8

@TimStone Now I'm thinking about using rope to cross the Channel.

> You could see the television from the little dining room table and he was watching Shark Week and he was watching a special about the U.S.S. something and it sank and it was like the worst shark attack in history. He is obsessed with sharks. Terrified of sharks. He was like, “I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.” He was like riveted. He was like obsessed. It’s so strange, I know.

Aww they can't go to Davos? Field trip canceled!

5:32 PM
@TimStone Haven't some Republicans already gone home or something?
@GodEmperorDune Trump just sounds more and more like a 13-year old every day.
Incredible mood swings, obsessed with having sex no matter how weird, and now overly concerned about the dangers of shark attacks.
Is he also scared of quicksand?

@Yuuki apparently it was very vanilla

It's dirt, so probably

@GodEmperorDune You're in over your head here.

the sex with stormy daniels, anyway

Trump officials contradict Zinke, say offshore drilling in Florida is still on the table http://hill.cm/N9EiTJ5

5:38 PM
> Nothing freaky. Like, “Oh yeah, that feels good. That’s amazing.” You know. It was one position, what you would expect someone his age to do. It wasn’t bad. Don’t get me wrong.

Tomorrow: 5th anniversary of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden beginning second terms in office (20 Jan)
lmao, what

oh today is my twitterversary, apparently i made an account 6 years ago?

@TimStone journalism is fucking stupid

@TimStone I thought we were done with slow news days.

@Unionhawk journalism got you the steele dossier

5:46 PM
#BREAKING: Trump invites Schumer to White House to try to reach deal to avoid shutdown http://hill.cm/lsqJs7y
I mentioned that above but what's going on in that picture?
Was the camera person like in a tree looking at a mirror?

@TimStone maybe it was spicy in the bushes

Someone go gag Miller so we can end up reaching the same deal again and embarrassing the GOP leadership

@TimStone did you see how they added flake's name to the bill's name when telling trump so he would be more likely to reject it?

Wait really?

i can't find the twete

5:53 PM
@GodEmperorDune it wasn't worth it

Wow, @LindseyGrahamSC just called @SenTomCotton "the Steve King of the Senate." On @MSNBC with @GarrettHaake
:'D

Love the internal WH strategy to always call Graham-Durbin "Flake-Graham-Durbin" (w Flake name first) to dissuade Trump from the thing

Supposedly the meeting is just Trump and Schumer which if indeed true will be hilarious
We’ve reached the part of the shutdown negotiations where Democrats are posing in front of Trump tweets on posters.
Yeah sure why not

6:10 PM
@TimStone I mean yes

> Comey to teach college course on ethical leadership

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

To be fair, I had a professor at my MBA program who taught some ethics material who was involved with the Ford something safety issues denial. Let me find it.
The Ford Pinto is a front-engine, rear-drive subcompact car manufactured and marketed by Ford Motor Company for model years 1971–1980. The first subcompact developed by Ford in North America, the Pinto was marketed in two-door sedan, three-door hatchback, and three-door station wagon body styles, and was the first mass-produced American car with rack and pinion steering. Ford's Lincoln-Mercury division marketed a rebadged variant of the Pinto as the Mercury Bobcat for model years 1975–1980 (1974–1980 in Canada). The Pinto and Bobcat were manufactured at Edison Assembly, St.Thomas Assembly and San...
^ That link goes straight to the case
"In 1973, Ford's Environmental and Safety Engineering division developed a cost-benefit analysis entitled Fatalities Associated with Crash Induced Fuel Leakage and Fires for submission to the NHTSA in support of Ford's objection to proposed stronger fuel system regulation."
And in Missouri some politician convicted of electoral fraud or something has also taught ethics classes.
I would say it probably needs to be judged carefully to make sure the person actually has something to say and against the negative potential that they're just using it as a redemption tour, but sometimes people who have made mistakes have better understanding.

7:10 PM
WE DID IT. Landslide vote in favor of newsroom union at the LA Times. 248-44
\o/ 🦅🍞🌹

7:22 PM
@Unionhawk nice

7:45 PM
\o/ !!
@Unionhawk This is probably not the focus, but do unions ever do much to increase diversity? Newsrooms are not great about that.
From my understanding unions are rarely involved with things like that, especially because they represent current members, not future ones.

I do not know
What I do know is, DC is full of nerds
Available at 12:01AM
spending $5 on a can of cheap beer and a shot of tequila to own... idk someone
your liver I guess
and to be fair $5 for drinks in DC is cheap as heck

“Right now, in a number of states, the laws allow a baby to be born from his or her mother’s womb in the ninth month. It is wrong. It has to change.” Genuinely confused by this. (via ABC) https://t.co/3FT8SCQY5V
I dunno what trump was going for?
Like is this pro preemie or what?

user15026
@GodEmperorDune I...what does he even mean here

user15026
Like is he like "oh hey preemie babies yes good" or is it "nine months is not enough" or what

user15026
(because if it is "oh no preemie babies bad", buddy, I gotta lot to say to you, and ain't none of it gonna be nice)

7:59 PM
I believe technically what he meant to say is something along the lines of "third trimester abortions are legal in some states" which I don't think is true either?
Like those aren't even close to the words he said but

Or is he expecting to change human gestation periods with legislative action?

I believe that is technically what he intended to say

user15026
@Unionhawk yeah I don't think that is true

it seems quite optimistic to search for meaning in Trumps own words

user15026
Okay, maybe it is, I'm not sure, because it just says "late term" here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…

8:00 PM
It's hard to keep track

user15026
But like...statistically, if you're doing anything later term it's usually because it's not a viable pregnancy anyway

user15026
The thing most peopel forget about abortion is most peopel seek it early, if they don't want to have a child

user15026
Later term is usually oh hey you won't survive or the child won't

user15026
(sorry, I'm prooooobably preaching to the choir here.)

It's all really messy yeah

8:03 PM
@Ash or "even though you wanted to get it earlier we made it so difficult that it's months before you can actually do the procedure"

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

user15026
@GodEmperorDune oh yes also this

waiting periods, only one or two providers in the entire massive state

super great

love to bamboozle and coerce children into the world

8:04 PM
love too make things really hard because we're not allowed to make it illegal

@MadScientist I like to assign outlandish meanings.
Mostly because it's like 50/50 that they're actually on point.
@Unionhawk ... flagged as NSFW?

user15026
@GodEmperorDune and then get mad when we made people have babies they can't care for because we have stupidly rigid moral compasses and how dare they want help caring for and affording said child because we made them do it

i think imma start assuming that all of trump's words have some shark related meaning right beneath the surface
clearly this is jealously that sharks are born in sacs

user15026
ahem sorry, It just makes me SO MAD

@Ash yeppppppppppppp

user15026
8:06 PM
Like this stupid life is precious crap only seems to matter when they're all in the womb and shit, but you pop one out and need help and then your goddamn irresponsible or some shit

user15026
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

user15026
(you see it here too, which frustrates me so much)

@Ash life is precious and your children are an eternal punishment for a thing you did so anything bad that happens going forward is clearly YOUR FAULT for not doing abstinence

user15026
Stupid fundamental religious values messing everything up

yeah

user15026
8:08 PM
(this is why I make it damn clear I am a faithful human not a religious one)

the religious right are fun

love to mix religion and patriarchy to solidify the status quo

user15026
ITS SO GREAT

like when jesus said "when you're a star they let you do it"
i think it was in too corinthians

user15026
here we're fighting for providers to provide the Mifegymiso option because they are supposed to, but so few so far will write the scrip for it

user15026
8:10 PM
It makes me grouchy

And that time when Jesus turned water into trickle-down economics.

@Yuuki and said "the rich are just better people, that's why they get into heaven so easily"

user15026
(also, hey, I actually spelled that right go me)

The US are a very weird country

And the time he went to the temple steps, prostrated himself before the moneylenders, and said "these are my kind of people".

8:11 PM
and went into the temple but only disrupted the tables of some of the moneylenders, because the others were offering just incredible deals

@GodEmperorDune inb4'd?

@Yuuki and said "lo, let there be lag"

user15026
You guys are making me feel better right now

@GodEmperorDune This does remind me that I need to like, compile a list of lines like all of Matthew 25, Mt 19:24 and such
in fact are they all Matthew?
oh wait no one from mark (12:44)

And that time he went to Bethany, was told of Lazarus, and said, "Did he pay for his healthcare? Because my healing isn't free".

8:14 PM
damn i want to make a joke about the wall but i don't know enough biblical geography
ummm, make gomorrah pay for it? is gomorrah a person or a place?

place

probably close to sodom

ooo cleansing of the temple is in all 4 of them, hell yeah
that's legitimately the best thing

@MadScientist see i thought sodom was a person

8:16 PM
nope place

I don't think most people realize how violent it actually is to grab a whip and start cracking it around inside

sodom and gomorrah were two cities that were nuked from orbit by god because they sinned, or something like that

yeah

@MadScientist ohhh, i figured it was like a goofus and gallant thing and one got nuked and the other was ok

@MadScientist And Lot's wife was turned to salt because she didn't listen to her husband.

8:17 PM
And then Lot's wife died from radiation poisoning

You could also reference Jericho, because they actually had a Biblically relevant wall

from said nukes

and Jonah was haggling with God for a standard of how many good people he needs to find for him to not blow it up

@murgatroid99 see i didn't even know jericho was in the bible

Sadly Godzilla did not immediately emerge to warn of the consequences of nuking from orbit, instead waiting 3000 more years

8:18 PM
though he only found like 2 people so the deal ended up being "all right, get them out then I'll blow it up"

My favorite is the story of Elisha and the bears

@Unionhawk love to emulate president deals

@Unionhawk I don't think Jonah had anything to do with Sodom and Gomorrah?

Nineveh, for Jonah

Oh, shit

8:20 PM
@puzzlepiece87 Basically, a lot of cities sinned back in the day.

And also for Jonah, he wanted God to blow it up but God's like "Nah"

yeah that was Abraham

The bargaining was Abraham with Sodom and Gomorrah, exactly.

Pretty sure Sodom and Gomorrah was Lot.
Oh, never mind.

Lot escaped from Sodom and Gomorrah
but Abraham did the bargaining

8:21 PM
@puzzlepiece87 He got him down to 10 people required which was pretty good

Abraham was related to Lot so you can see why he may have had some personal investment in the situation :P

@MadScientist i found it and this is like an allegory of twitter viral outrage

@Unionhawk Yeah, I'd definitely trust Abraham to stand in for me at the negotiating table

Honestly a bold strategy to go through like six rounds of negotiating down when the threat is "I'm going to blow it up" which means the implied threat could be "I could blow you up"

My negotiating tactics are pretty much "Hey, this is $X on Amazon, can you lower the price for me?" and "Charter, I'd like you to extend my promo rate. You can't? Okay, transfer me to cancellation please. Oh, you can now? That's great."

8:23 PM
> Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.

And also, the angels told Lot they would destroy the city and Lot went to his kids' fiancees and was like "the end is nigh" and they were like "dude, you sound like that crazy guy in Times Square" and then they were incinerated for not being completely hysterical.

@MadScientist they tore up forty-two lads. and that's terrible.

@GodEmperorDune That's as many as 4 2s?
wait
hmmm
No, that sounds right.

@Unionhawk I'm sorry, did you not appreciate Abraham's testicular fortitude when he took his kid up to the top of the mountain to stab and burn him just because God asked?
@Unionhawk I immediately awarded him the title of Winner of All Games of Chicken, but that's just me.

@puzzlepiece87 what a jerk

8:25 PM
@puzzlepiece87 What if he did it because his kid tried to eat a Tide pod and Abraham therefore lost all faith in humanity?

@Yuuki font-style: normal

@Yuuki I mean, the Abraham from the story is a little bit more psycho than someone who's lost faith in humanity.

it's always those evil female bears

@puzzlepiece87 On the other hand, Tide pods...

@Yuuki The dude literally was like "Here son, carry these sticks, gonna need some fuel for this fire (I'm gonna roast you on)"
Making his son carry the firestarter is really twisting the knife in a way that a Tide pod-despondent person isn't capable of.
(For the record, I'm a (reluctantly-affiliated) Christian :P The Bible is a really strange compilation though, I take some joy from its unadulterated absurdity.)

1/ SCOOP: Largest charter in the US—a poster child for GOP "reform" plans—just imploded. We have the sordid backstory: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/01/the-gops-biggest-charter-school-experiment-just-imploded/
love to privatize where nothing could possible go wrong
oh hey this is in @uni's backyard

lol
It's in the state anyway
Hours north
I'm sure Cbus DSA will probably have a take

i mean the sanest take is "cutting corners to save money doesn't work out in the long run"

@Unionhawk In internal TSA tests they fail to detect the device like 93% of the time - I guess the news crew wasn't very good.

or perhaps "private companies have overhead that make it more expensive for them to reimplement what the govt is already doing"
@puzzlepiece87 if they were going for shock value, they probably went with the lulziest bomb they thought they could get away with

8:37 PM
@GodEmperorDune well,,, you see tha'ts because theres unnecessary government intervention

user15026
@GodEmperorDune I even have a related song for you!

user15026
(And now I'm singing it to myself)

@Ash why is this animation so bad?

it's from like 1992 or something
uh

user15026
8:42 PM
@GodEmperorDune Because it's like....1990s

user15026
It's Veggietales!

also love the frenchphobia here

1993-present, damn

maybe a monty python refrance?

user15026
@GodEmperorDune I don't think so, they're just French peas

user15026
8:43 PM
@Unionhawk The new Veggietales stuff is not as good

Oh I'm sure
It's Confederate Heroes Day in Texas! Today I'll be celebrating Major John Decatur Barry. Sure, he was a piece of shit who fought for slavery and autocracy, but he did do one good thing entirely by mistake: killed Stonewall Jackson

so is this like an ironic show making fun of fundamentalsim?

lol
no

oh what

it's a children's show about bible stories
completely sincere

8:45 PM
"why are you walking?" "our god told us to"
like that's just a blind obedience thing, no bueno
"now i shall taunt you a SECOND time"

@GodEmperorDune I mean that's basically how the story goes down

i see

@Unionhawk For the longest time as a kid, I didn't realize VeggieTales had anything to do with the Bible or Christianity.

thats a dumb story then

I have no idea why I didn't figure it out. Maybe it was the selection of VeggieTales cartoons I was exposed to?

8:48 PM
@GodEmperorDune meh, I think they're going with "persistent faith will eventually work but you need to be patient"

Because I'm fairly certain there's a few that don't mention God or Christianity at all.

Maybe I don't know

"our god has a tremendous plan to bring down your wall but it's a secret and it wouldn't work if we told you about it. all the generals have complimented Him on this plan."

user15026
@GodEmperorDune That's....pretty much how Jericho went. Like there's reasons, but it was basically "God told us to"

user15026
@Yuuki If all you know is like...the silly songs stuff, for sure

8:50 PM
@Ash imma downvote the source material then

user15026
But yeah, some of them aren't strictly bible stories, like Junior and the Fib

user15026
(Which I think is Larry-Boy related, and those as far as I remember were more like moral lessons and less Bible story)

user15026
(CAN YOU TELL I WAS STEEPED IN THIS STUFF AS A SMALL PERSON)

@Unionhawk Wait, it's Confederate Heroes Day?
Didn't know that was a thing here.
I mean, I'm not surprised but also I didn't know it was a thing.

@Ash steeping for too long makes the tea bitter

8:52 PM
Yeah, apparently

glad you evnetually got rinsed

I think it might even be a "state government is closed" holiday
But I can't really tell

@GodEmperorDune shrug I still believe, so make of that what you will

@Ash you can believe whatever you like, it's how you act that makes the difference

....okay.

I know a lot of Bible stories as well
Definitely steeped
@GodEmperorDune the actions of most modern Catholics are good
@Yuuki hue. That's the point of some of them I think

I think the point @GodEmperorDune is trying to make is that belief in religion is not innately good in and of itself. And any good acts motivated by said religion are good because they are good acts and not because they were motivated by religion.

user15026
Alright sure.

Maybe.

@Yuuki yes and no
as an example, there is a church somewhere in the southeastern US that bought a tractor trailer truck and converted it into a mobile large scale kitchen

praxis af

entirely self contained (except for food ingredients), and they go to disaster zones and literally feed people
just pump out huge numbers of hot meals for victims, responders, whoever
i don't personally care about their motivations for doing so, but i think it is a good thing that they are doing it
from the interview i saw of one of the leaders, it was something about jesus saying to help people in need and that's why they do it

user15026
This is why Mennonite Central Committee/Mennonite Disaster Service do what they do - Jesus said serve and help those who need it, so we do the thing

user15026
(We being Mennonites, and technically I'm still one according to church membership, and it's the closest analogue to my belief system so I roll with it)

now if they were not religious maybe they never decided to do this thing, so i'm fine with saying that religion had a part in making them do good in the world
there are other people that have used religion as a cover to do horrific things, such as the catholic church sex abuse things, christian evangelical leaders doing financial as well as sexual abuse of their members, etc
the blame/credit goes both ways

user15026
It's like any other social grouping - there's good and ill in all of it

9:37 PM
right

user15026
especially when you get to more fundamental/hardcore/rigid whatever

@Ash There is an ill in all of it but I don't think there's good given that there's no g.
Or a d.

user15026
@Yuuki facedesk

@Ash :D

The President said he was going to run America like his businesses. Apparently we have reached the part where he would usually just declare bankruptcy and run away. #TrumpShutdown
