@MatsK I don't think making people welcome is a moderator issue, more of a question for all of the frequent posters. Anyone here can say "welcome!" to a new poster. People new to SE won't even know what a moderator is. As I said in my nomination post I "have tried to not be overly harsh on closing questions from enthusiastic beginners".
@LookAlterno You vote once the nominations close, assuming we get 4+ nominations, and less than 11. If there are more than 10 candidates there is another phase where you get to give a +1 or -1 vote to each one, in an attempt to whittle down the number of candidates to the 10 most electable. The next phase starts in 13 hours from the time of this message.
As I have mentioned here we need more nominations for moderator or the election will not go ahead. Stack Exchange rules require at least one more nomination than positions to be filled, so that there is a proper election, and not just have the positions filled by default.

@NickGammon in this particular case the self-imposed rules of SE elections are, uhm, not that helpful. Unless there really is reason against one of the candidates according to their performance as a pro tem, it should be fine if they continue as elected mods even if no other nominations are available.
