@apaul as I mentioned, because I am emotionally involved, it makes it difficult to see the situation clearly. Doctors do not operate on their family members. And even though I am a counselor, it doesn't mean I have all the answers, and I am very open to hear different people's persepectives. That makes me a better counselor and helps me to see areas in my personal life differently. — MindDr810 13 secs ago

@LinuxBlanket, I have talked with her earlier this year about certain behaviors that I feel have hurt the friendship. I have told her I worry about her drinking and driving, and her health, However, I have not specifically done what you asked. I will have to think about why that is. Thank you for asking. — MindDr810 12 secs ago

Thank you, I'll take a look at that, but I'm not certain that therapy would help - it might just turn something which she doesn't see as too scary into a really terrifying thing (that's something that her parents often do which just makes various academic things worse). Some more context would make this more relevant. Are you a fresh out of school intern? Have you tripped over simple things like this before? What region are you in? Is there a language or culture barrier of some kind? Do you come from a substantially different region/background/ethnicity/something than the other people? I can't tell if your people are being overly friendly as a norm, or if they are being condescending because you've developed a reputation for not knowing anything, or something else is afoot. — YetAnotherRandomUser 44 secs ago

You are free to expect what you want. You may be wrong, or right - as you are predicting a future event. If sex is what you expect, then you will act to facilitate that outcome. The actions are what you must pay attention to. You don't necessarily have to feel bad about the expectation. — VISQL 1 min ago

On the flip side, you could ask what they are getting. I can never decide what to eat, so it gives me a starting point and a price point to compare to. One time a friend was treating me, and I wound up getting the same thing as them. It was easy to pick because it was something I liked, and I knew i wasn't overstepping any boundaries, even if they didn't have any. — YetAnotherRandomUser 2 mins ago

I got that, indeed. However, even though I agree with you, I think it's important to remind people that even if you expect something sexually related and thefore will act in order to provoke what you want to happen, you should push if you see that the other doesn't want to do it (anymore). — avazula 1 min ago
