I wish it were this simple. Point of experience: given a completely respectful graceful invitation, unless the recipient is unusually self-aware, whether the invitation lands as creepy or non-creepy will depend almost entirely on whether the recipient's answer is "yes" or "no" (where "no" comes out as "no, and what a creep" due to lack of skills and/or lack of self-awareness on the part of the recipient). Acknowledging that seems like a necessary start. Whether it's worth it depends on whether one is self-confident / thick-skinned enough to be able to receive "no, and what a creep". — Don Hatch 55 secs ago

It conveys to me she doesn't do it, because there's not enough external pressure. The same thing for the cleaning. She literally said "Now I HAVE to do it, because now there's external pressure." I consider this lack of selfdisciplin. I have tried the suggestion of cutting the tasks into smaller pieces, but the answer is "That doesn't work", without any explanation. She has a therapist, which told her to go to Group therapy and she cannot continue the sessions with the individual therapist before finishing the Group therapy. Should I update the question with this information? (2/2) — Caroline 37 secs ago

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. What @DaveG is pointing out is kinda why I asked the question; she doesn't have the 'relatable' reasons (kids, work, school, etc). She has a history of complaining about what other people are doing to her, which I consider normal (no mobile phones allowed while you're working in the store, having to clean the store even though you got hired as a cashier.) The group therapy is not working, because she says "I don't do the homework as there are no consequences" This conveys to me that it's not not having the energy to do it. (1/2) — Caroline 1 min ago

The context is "an English teacher working in Russia". As a former ESL teacher (working in Japan), I can state that many of us had little more than a college degree and minimal training on the course material. Certainly we had zero training in identifying/dealing with things like dyslexia. I agree wholeheartedly with this approach. This graphical language is commonplace nowadays, on websites, talk shows, TV programs (particularly cable channels like HBO), and even television news, so much so that you'd have to actively limit your exposure to certain media if you want to avoid it.
