I disagree with this answer so much. An individual taking a picture of you is doing it for a specific reason - because they find your appearance interesting. Chances are THEY WANT TO SHARE THIS IMAGE. In this day and age this can quickly lead to YOU GOING VIRAL. Clearly this is very different to surveillance. By confronting the individual you can't change what happened, but that person MIGHT NOT DO IT AGAIN. You therefore helping create a culture where this is not acceptable — Phill 43 secs ago

Hey, can you please explain exactly why you think that this is a good idea? Why do you say to take this course of action? What’s the thought process behind this answer? As this currently stands, this is essentially a “Try this!” answer. We require that answers provide some sort of explanation for why they are suggesting this solution, and unfortunately, at the moment this answer doesn't appear to do that. — Noon 1 min ago

@Cascabel even if the suggesting the core of the answer doesn't go over well, I think it should still be done. The unpleasant truth is that if someone isn't able to have their views (respectfully) challenged without losing their cool, they aren't mature enough for such discussion in the first place. — SuperStew 1 min ago

@SuperStew This site isn't intended as a discussion platform, especially not in main-site comments. I certainly agree that in general in the world, there's value in challenging misconceptions, but comment debates here don't seem a good method, and the community has already decided on that. And... I don't really think we need to make that leap to generalizations about others' maturity. It's really easy for things to go off the rails, even with people who could have such a discussion in a better setting. — Cascabel 1 min ago

What I was trying to get at is if it's just one person, you can deal with it by just minimizing what you communicate to that person. If it's a lot of different people in many situations, then you will have to deal with this by changing your own behavior. In short, is the issue with you, or with someone else? — nasch 23 secs ago

@nasch Sorry, my miss understanding. Now I think I understand you. The answer is very simple, it is not me, it is her. I usually asked one of my friends to grant me some of their food and they don’t say anything and they granted me, but she. Instead of saying “No” she suppose to say to me, “Ok, you may have when I’ll finish it.” Or, “No, because I want to continue till I finish it.” Then ok, I understand her. But, it seems like, not all people know how to talk. I hope this is what you want to get. — Alex A 49 secs ago

@MatthewECornish It's not worrying in that way, I agree that it is harmless. But I think it's just harming herself more if that makes sense. The people at my school did not find it weird in a sweet way, even if my friends did. I don't want anyone to pity her or make fun of her, she doesn't deserve that. But that's what happened in high school. I want her to learn that it's not something she needs to do to feel better about herself if she's struggling or has a low self-esteem. I think if she does that it's essentially not letting her be herself and giving herself a standard to reach. — janee 42 secs ago
