ok so
I feel like there should be some amount of in game programming
that wasa actually my first thought
when you said "terminal game"
I remember playing some hacker puzzle game on KA
not that kind of in game programming though
take, for example, ss13
then what do you mean?
the chemmachine thinga mabobby has a bf derivative programming language to use it
is the game actually fun?
10:02
well
its fun enough to be the only thing stopping byond from shutting down
also, like I said, you can't really have a multiplayer roguelike
in-game programming without a gui is going to be weird
because roguelikes aren't real time
I already have an idea: let's assume there are two players, A and B. Once A performs their action/command, the game waits for B to do the same. Once they both do it, the game continues to the next turn with both A and B's actions played out in the same turn
10:06
yeah
you could do thta
but one of the main things about roguelikes is not being hurried, and also being able to play without stops
hmm, then maybe A goes first, followed by B, and so on, but then you require more cooperativeness
nah this doesn't really sound that cool...
also maybe not another roguelike
do you have any other ideas?
hmmm
well I mean, a mud is possible... but ehhh
oh this
A MUD (; originally Multi-User Dungeon, with later variants Multi-User Dimension and Multi-User Domain), is a multiplayer real-time virtual world, usually text-based. MUDs combine elements of role-playing games, hack and slash, player versus player, interactive fiction, and online chat. Players can read or view descriptions of rooms, objects, other players, non-player characters, and actions performed in the virtual world. Players typically interact with each other and the world by typing commands that resemble a natural language. Traditional MUDs implement a role-playing video game set in a fantasy...
So, what's this room about? Room info doesn't seem descriptive.
a terminal game that may or may not be made
10:34
purely text based games aren't going to be very fun
huh
you wot
yeah but that is semi likely to be true
well it depends
what is the name going to be?
what so what are we making?
the name is going to depend on that
hmmmm, a long time ago I did have an idea for a text game
10:41
what was the idea?
well...
its a little bit of progress quest, and other stuff
in fact I'm not entirely sure
10:56
hmmm
