7:31 AM
Morning...

hello

o/ How was your weekend?

good saturday but not great sunday
saturday we met some new people my boyfriend chatted with on social media
sunday, not much happening, and I got bored of programming and video games, didn't manage to get enough motivation to draw or read, so not much positivity going on
What about yours?

7:53 AM
First time in forever that I didn't have half the weekend filled with chores and babysitting, so it was filled with crafting. It was good and lazy :D

nice

Today is still a 'weekend', took the day off because we'll be visiting my soon to be apartment in an hour. After that, i have to choose between more crafts or gaming ;)

8:33 AM
morning all... its way too early on a monday

2 hours later…
10:08 AM
Look, the kitchen is installed :D

10:30 AM
@Tinkeringbell I'll never get used to seeing kitchens without fire
but looks good. very stylish :D

Without fire?! Well I hope mine will never have any fire :P
Thanks :D
I'm very happy with how it turned out

@Tinkeringbell Gas cookers :D
I know y'all are modern and use induction or hot plates :D

Ah, yeah. My apartment has no gas connection at all :)

2 hours later…
12:25 PM
The kitchen is neat but isn't it a bit lacking space for cooking? Or maybe it's open and you will have a separation bar like we will
That, or you are very organised

I don't know :P We'll see, I don't usually need a lot of room when cooking so it's probably big enough for me ;) It will remain open, but there won't be separation bar, that will just make the living room too small.

I just know it's sometimes easy to fill up, like if you have a toaster and a coffee machine it already takes some space, we also have a kettle, a small rack for spices, but part of why I lack space is we also tend to be lazy doing the dishes and we also have stuff that belong to the storage lying around
It's a bit like my desk being never big enough to handle all the mess I put in lol

1:19 PM
@ArthurHv Ah, yeah, the coffee machine is going to take up a bit of space, I was planning on putting that on the right, above the smaller drawers.
then there's an induction cooking plate (now covered by cardboard) as wide as the combination microwave/oven, above that oven.
then there's a full cabinet worth of workspace, a sink, and another full cabinet worth of workspace.
As for spices, they'll probably end up in one of the drawers.
Toaster isn't one of those things I actually plan on getting, maybe I'll get a tosti/panini maker instead but that can go in one of the cabinets, it doesn't have to sit on the workspace.
Electric kettle... depends on the kind of coffee maker I'll get, there are also coffee makers that come with a 'hot water' function :)

Sounds good !

Yep, I'm hoping it'll turn out just as well as I imagine it will XD

Could also just add an island.
(Morning.)

If you have the space for it :P
I was thinking I could just use the dinner table if it becomes really, really necessary :P

Oh if you have an extra table you will be fine

1:29 PM
That... could be bad depending on what you're prepping though? You'd have to wipe down the table before eating on it.

sometimes the extra space is just needed for a couple of minutes like extracting something hot from the oven or so

Yeah ... I wasn't planning on cutting raw chicken at the dinner table :P Otherwise though, there's always tablecloths :)

Ahsee.

1:46 PM
(Also, I never knew the name for 'separation bars'. TIL)

Idk it's trying to translate from French don't think that's how they call it in English actually
They call it breakfast bar apparently

... I search "separation bar or breakfast bar" and it shows me a picture of an island. :|

2:04 PM
When I search for island I find pictures of Iceland. Our lives are a lie

It's like a breakfast bar but not attached to anything.

Sometimes they have wheels, sometimes they just can't ever be moved.

Yea. My father made one of those. In a house he worked to renovate, and later got separated and didn't get the house :(
I just don't know if there is any generic term for island and/or breakfast bar. A breakfast bar have chairs. An island you can pass by both sides. I don't know if there is a word for "something that separates your open kitchen from living room whatever that is"

2:19 PM
I mean, islands don't do that, though.
They're generally in the middle of the kitchen. Hence... island.

hmm yea but

?

It does make some sort of separation though. You clearly have a kitchen-side and a living-room side of an island that is put parallel to the kitchen.
Even if, they are not enclosed rooms since you can just walk by the island

I mean, sure. But you can also just have an island surrounded by counters on all sides.
We have an island surrounded on 3 sides with counters/fridge, with kitchen table on the 4th, then living room beyond that.

2:41 PM
I wish I had that much space in my future apartment ! We have to work with the idea of an island that can be both a kitchen worktop and some place we can eat being 4-6. Because we won't have a dining table in the living room. We are pending some kitchen installer propositions
And properly it may not be an island we could also attach it to a wall.

Island is handy because you don't get 'stuck' behind people. Unless both paths are blocked.

Fair point.
