@M.A.R. Haha you reminded me of a "joke" which was supposedly an actual fragment of some student's weekly lab report "... for simplicity of calculations, an approximation was used that π≈2 ..." :D

As a conflict-averse person, I do a good deal of listening and nodding. I agree that it often makes people feel safe and understood and like I'm "chill", which usually leaves them open to me expressing my own view when I choose to. So that's good. However, I definitely have had occasions where people were surprised to find out later that I didn't agree with them, and I'm sure others think so but haven't yet heard me express otherwise. So that is a side effect. But it's not everyone, and it helps if I say what I think fairly early on... and then resume nodding. — Euchris 1 min ago

Just to get it right, your friend is still 6 months away from moving out of his location and already reserves space in your house? How long is he trying to find a new place? Two more weeks are a lot if there are only another two weeks left, but it's nothing for an upcoming span of 6 months? Red lights are blinking! — puck 2 mins ago

@user541686: Maybe the landlord needs the flat for himself/his family? For example maybe his daughter is going to start university in 6 months and needs the apartment then? There are lots of possible reasons why the landlord might tell him 6 months beforehand. I can also understand the friend inquiring about staying with OP in advance. It doesn’t make sense (financially) to rent a new flat while you are still living in one. So if you have a backup solution it’s good to rent a new flat as late as possible. — Michael 1 min ago

This is not an answer but more of an advice: I would put the condition that you won't accept furniture (or anything else this person wouldn't take on a holiday) into your house. It has to be clear it is more of an "hotel" or "airbnb" kind of stay, they're not moving in, they are temporarily occupying a space in your property. Be very clear about that. A true friend will understand that, even said very bluntly. The worse the understanding of that, the bigger the chances of an overstay... — Laurent S. 1 min ago

I had ju (juice without ice) during tea break and am about to leave from work.
Although, no weekend for me this time as well.
I am having y first full weekend in almost a year this week :D
I have no idea what to do of the weekend to come
I had a pet project in open source but gave up on it entirely

I once developed a project in Python/Flask to learn the language. It was about listing all important places, including monuments, hospitals etc, of a city with address and contact details. There are some points of improvement, but never got time to do them.

@ArthurHv Reading, gaming, crafting, cooking, cleaning, exercising?
@Tinkeringbell 1. Will do a bit but I have trouble for extended periods of time, plus I only have comics left unread, 2. Should be avoided, medical prescription :p, 3. Im terrible at this and dunno what I could do 4. Will do 5. Could, but no fun ! And most of it is done by bf during the week 6. OH GOD NO PLEASE NO ;_; Well I hate that but I could also use some of this
I think the most serious plan is to order some books
I'm not sure about the weather there, but over here we're supposed to have those 'first few days of spring', so that's why mom and I are going for a walk now. (the weekends are usually too busy here)
So perhaps not exercising but just roaming around could be nice :)
Ordering books is also a very good pasttime!
Yea it actually would. I haven't seen sun in weeks
I've seen it, from a safe distance ;)
Actual meetings with the sun aren't good for health if you don't respect some distance and use atmosphere as a barrier for radiations
12:56
hmm crispy
@ArthurHv I meant more that I was indoors while seeing it :P But sure ;)
I'm going to drop my absence in the Teams chat and check whether she's ready yet :)
We discussed books earlier. I remember Dune but not the others. Well I have the trilogy in my basket that's a big one but I could get 1-2 more before ordering.
13:28
Order placed. Frank Herbert, Truman Capote and Carl Jung are on the way home
I seem to know those names, but not the books I should probably know those names for ;)
Dune, In cold blood, and The red book respectively (last one is a famous psychology work)
I was about to say I knew Carl Jung from something philosophical XD Well psychology is close enough :P
Now you don't have anything to do this weekend again though, unless the books will be delivered tomorrow?
The spice must flow
@Tinkeringbell Exactly
Books expected next saturday
13:31
Well, that should be enough for at least one weekend then ;)
I still have so many books to finish... I keep starting stuff and never finishing it :/
Aw I take it no one understood my Dune reference ;-;
@avazula Sorry, not me :( Never read those books. All I know is that they're the one with giant worms?
The movie aged so badly (imho) it's just so fun to watch it
My mom's SF collection is insane, I read a fair bit of Herbert's work
I vaguely know cuz i saw the movies and played the games (yes there are games) but that spice quote don't ring a bell
Must be Paul's I assume
13:36
Oh ok, then I forgot
So yes, it was Paul ;)

@Tinkeringbell I wanted to know what could be the appropriate way in my situation, whether to apologize in person or in mail. Sorry, I didn't realize it was off-topic. I guess I would do it in person rather sending a mail. So, I get to know if the person has accepted my apology or not. Thanks for the explanation. — Priyadarshini Thirunavukkarasu 35 secs ago
