Mornin

Hey :) how are you?

Good. I'm trying to learn to delegate things to my team as per softwareengineering.stackexchange.com/questions/420834/…
I do it a bit progressively, so far it's going ok
I also have an important presentation tomorrow where I will explain NVC to my colleagues, I'm excited :)
What about you? @Tinkeringbell

Right now I'm tasked with taking notes during a meeting so I can brief my coworkers this afternoon, and I don't like the responsibility.

8:35 AM
I absolutely hate writing during meetings. Make my focus go off.

That too. I mostly don't want to miss anything so I'm taking too much notes and missing things XD
Every single time.

I think for it to work you have to summarize all the time in your head and try to write the summary in a few words. But that's not natural to me. Probably not to most people. Takes a while you get used to and we haven't that kind of training at school
When I attempted medicine we had to do this and I was awful at it.

I had the same struggle when trying to take notes in university, so I resorted to asking if I could just record the lectures and then listened to them at home, pausing them when I wanted to make a note.

I had a different cope, I quit medicine and went to a class where I could remember everything without taking any note :D
In high school my teachers predicted me that because I had this learning style I would not make it in university. Turned out they were partly right and partly wrong

Learning to learn was a thing for me in university. I failed the first year and had to make up for that in the second.

Hi!

9:27 AM
o/
I also suck at taking notes
I'll just take some key points at my laptop or something

9:39 AM
Well, I just got to present the results of a break-out session... I only stuttered 999 times.
@CaldeiraG This is what I'm trying to do now too :) I'm also halfway tempted to just tell people the session was recorded so they can just view it later instead of expecting notes from me XD

@Tinkeringbell :D

Q: How can I prevent my girlfriend from promising things out of obligation?

Maiko ChikyuI've been in a loving relationship for over a year but especially with corona my girlfriend is somewhat convinced that she is not meeting my needs since I feel lonely quite a bit. (It's not really related to her. It's more of lack of human contact that is making me feel lonely.) She used to agree...

Ooh, apparently the European Food Safety Agency has approved mealworms for processing into human foods... I wonder how soon we'll start seeing food producers attempting to cut costs by adding those to e.g. pasta... I should look up if they are cheaper already (I figure they might be, or we wouldn't be feeding them to animals)

I imagine, for it being protein, it's pretty cheap, perhaps same price than soy, when other source of proteins are usually expensive. As human food the entomophagy has been praised for being low carbon footprint, compared to traditional proteins.
Living Mealworms
Price: $12.5 USD per Kilogram.
Soy is significantly cheaper tho
Lol I'm finding various DIY to farm your own mealworms :D

11:59 AM
Yeah so they're not cheaper already, which is good. Somehow the idea of insects (even ground up) in food grosses me out (and yes I know about cochineal, I just don't try to think about it XD).
I think I prefer other sources of protein to be the cheapest for a good while into the future

12:40 PM
@Tinkeringbell :/

1:17 PM
Looking a bit messy because it broke (was sent with mail), but I already like the new contractor better than the old one :D
(this one gifts chocolate :P)

yay :)

Yeah, I was running low :D
To be fair though, they're really nice people so far and are already communicating more than the previous contractor ever did. I guess the saying is true: You don't know what you're missing out on. I never realized I was missing out on a lot before I got a new contractor.

1:34 PM
@Tinkeringbell well exactly
I think i'll get more perks once I get to work directly with my company :)
and a badge with a image
that's cool

@Tinkeringbell shellac is probably more common

@CaldeiraG Extra perks are always nice!
@JourneymanGeek Shut up :P

also is that a chocolate picture frame with a white chocolate company logo?

@JourneymanGeek Yep! The white chocolate also says "We're going to do everything in our power to still make a beautiful house for all of you"
That message is as sweet as the chocolate it's written on XD
Too much of either will make you nauseous :P

@Tinkeringbell yay

1:48 PM
Do you have any idea what kind of perks?

Q: Reworking the help/on-topic page

TinkeringbellA while back, we discussed How to encourage questions to actually focus on the 'interacting' part of Interpersonal Skills. My answer there proposed editing the help/on-topic page to be clearer, and editing our question guidelines accordingly. I've started reworking the help center text, and I thi...

If you believe that chasing is a good idea, you're doing it well. If you're open to other ideas (for example, chasing looks just like stalking), then maybe it's time to drop it. — Yosef Baskin 51 secs ago
