@JAD My house is from 1870, I don't have shutters. Also, I don't have curtains in all rooms and those who have some, aren't really dark. Light still comes through :p
I wish I could throw an IPS party at my place. Too bad we're all so far away from each other
@avazula It's a little tiresome. You have to create files containing translations and include according to the selected language. It's just key-value dictionary.
hmm, all text on our website comes from a huge dictionary with text. This is done so business owners can adjust text on the website without requiring code changes. Making a translation would just mean duplicating the dictionary
Hey people, sorry to change the subject but do we have a broad idea on how many people will be voting on the IPS election? Like, on the Workplace, have many people did vote compare to the number of people who could have vote?
I have to work quickly now, so I can get my work done. I still need to assemble three crochet parrots today too, so I can take them to our teambuilding activity tomorrow and give them to the team ;)
@Ælis I'm not so sure... '0 visited the site during election' < That's weird though, I HAVE visited the site as well so that should be at least one. But if people only click the notification that says 'election happening', doesn't mean they'll vote..
@avazula Yep. Our team is called ARA (Dutch for macaw) :P Since one coworker found out I crochet, he's been asking me for a small parrot he can use as a rubber duck... and I decided on a whim last week to make one for the entire team, to distribute tomorrow. It's a fun pattern to make and I had loads of fun picking colours and stashbusting!
@avazula , @JAD Well, some stations of subway are still close every Saturday, so I guess there are still active (and it seems that there has been some dead recently but it wasn't in Paris)
.
I don't have time for this right now, but if someone want to answer to that:

@avazula Oh dear, I just realize I have to cross Paris next Saturday to come to see you and some station between my place and the train station might be closed ><
@avazula It usually happens when it comes to farming. Farmers of one village will not let farmers of other village use their water else there will not be sufficient water for both.
@Ælis If it was just one modification, wouldn't that mean you only need to make 1 modification to your tests too to get them working again? And isn't that the devs job, to make sure the tests run before they drop it over the fence to you?
@Tinkeringbell Yeah, I "only" need to do one modification but that is a big one who will require devs to add stuff to their code (so that I can test properly instead of doing something ugly). And no, devs don't run my tests before "dropping it over the fence" (I'm hoping this will change in the foreseeable future, but I have been waiting for that for 4 months already, so...)
First of all, as an authority figure (moderator), you don't want to take any side. Even if you are 100% sure, don't officially say that Mr. Newbie is Mr. Toxic.
Then you have 2 side to take care of :
Mr. Newbie / Mr. Toxic
Send a private message to Mr. Newbie, warning him. Let him know that ...
Shouldn't this actually be kinda a duplicate? I mean for 1 can't this actually be put together in one post? As I was quite annoyed reading the very same text twice just to see its simply a copy pasted variant of the other OP...
@dhein I dropped a comment on the second one. I feel that it needs tailoring to be more suited to be a question about the community (instead of the player ;) )
And I kinda agree... It's a whole different thing to deal with the community than with the player themselves... but they should be two questions with different sides of the story ;)
@Rainbacon There is a table named: "CloseReasonTypes". You might want to do a select * on it in order to see all the closed reason before writing your query further
I've done that, and I see what's in that table, my issue is that I can't seem to find any tables that have foreign keys into it other than the pending flags table
Ok, yeah. That query is what I was looking for, but also, that's a super unintuitive thing. There is a string field on post history called "comment". If the history event is a closure, then that field gets the id of the close reason type
@Rainbacon lol every time I have to use SEDE I always have to relearn our table structures. I would've probably gone through and SELECT * FROM on every table I thought might be useful until I found what I was looking for
That particular relationship does sound tricky though...I wonder why we didn't name that column better
Stack Exchange releases "data dumps" of all its publicly available content roughly every three months via archive.org, and also makes that information queryable over the Internet at the Stack Exchange Data Explorer (SEDE). Over time, as new features and other bits of data are introduced to Stack ...
Let's collect some interesting queries for the Stack Exchange Data Explorer here.

@Rainbacon Yeah, that's what it's supposed to do... I think it's a bit difficult to make it link to the main room for each site, so it goes to the list of rooms instead.
Is "man asking for change" a polite way to say beggar? Because a "man asking for change" is definitively not a beggar in France. Just a man, asking for change (like: "I have this 10 dollar bill, do you have 5 dollar bills that we could exchange?")
My apologies if this is off-topic here, but I can't figure out any better place.

How to interact with a man asking for change without giving them false hope?
I live in a big city with a lot of homeless people. When I'm in the subway, I will often see them going around asking for money, food or "just a smile."
I know these people--like anyone--probably don't like being ignor...
I'm not sure who else I would expect to run, but I kind of thought there would be someone else
Looking at the nominations from when EmC was choosen, there's only one nomination from someone who hasn't been in chat and explicitly said they weren't going to run and who hasn't already nominated
