12:01 AM
... that's... so wrong.
I think the comic is better.

@Catija Aww what's so wrong?

cannibalism...

What?!?

user15026
@apaul This feels like it is stretching the ice cream thing, it's barely about ice cream in any inherent sense, you could use any sorted object, and it's kinda too pointed to be useful.

user15026
Also, the weird pressure for the vanilla one to be not that is also uncomfortable

12:09 AM
@apaul The vanilla one ate the salty caramel one...
It honestly reads to me a lot more like an anti-evangelism video.

user15026
Also, if the nuts aren't ice cream, what does that imply?

user15026
Because we go from ice cream as human stand in to....whatever

user15026
Also, it overemphasizes the idea that you have to be open to all the things and try all the things to know your truth

This week on taking things too seriously... Come on now, it's just using humor to make a social commentary.

user15026
and while okay yes, trying different ice cream flavours leads to me realizing that I like pistachio ice cream more than I like pistachios...it's not really like that with sexuality

user15026
12:11 AM
@apaul Which is fair, but I don't think it does a very good job of it.

user15026
If you're going to tackle a hot button issue like this, you gotta take some care in making sure you put out the right message.

user15026
@Catija Yeah, also this. Which is uncool.

Helps to see it in the full context of the episode. It's on Netflix if anyone's interested.

user15026
(Also, I recognize sexuality can be fluid and changing for some people! I am one of them. But I think this kinda makes it overly simplistic and kinda gives off a lot of the wrong idea)

user15026
(Especially the "try it you'll like it" thing)

12:15 AM
Ya, probably should have considered the audience here...

user15026
I'm not sure what you mean by that.

2:13 AM
Anybody in attendance?

Hey. I got a review dilemma. Are you up to discussion?

As long as it isn't about linguistics.

Nope, just IPS answers

What's up?

2:27 AM
Question is now closed, an answer made it in under the wire. It was more a comment about the question than an answer. It's been edited, probably after inserted into queue but before I got to it. Now it is an answer.
Had to look at the edit history to even see what the comments were about.
As it stands now my inclination is to accept it, "Looks Ok", even though it is a short answer.

In the vast majority of cases judge things as they are not as they were.
However to me that lacks enough substance to be an answer.
It just says do this without providing any explanation or justification.

Q is what's the etiquette, answer is to me it says al that's needed to be said. Rational is in the explanation to give. Short of citing the rules of teh contest, which we don't have, there seems to be nothing to add.
I appreciate well reasoned answers, and like to make mine thus as well. I also appreciate saying what needs saying, and then shutting up.

This really isn't an etiquette question, it's looking for us to justify them keeping the laptop. We also don't do etiquette questions on this site.

The Q is closed.

I know I voted to close it. I feel that there's a subjective element to judging things on this site.

2:37 AM
There always is, but it does seem stronger here than some other sites.
I believe that it is inherent in the subject matter, and that it won't "go away"

If someone asked how long to boil an egg on IPS and someone wrote a good answer to that question I'd still be inclined to vote to delete the answer.

Don't the answers fall with the question? All on one ship, as it were?

@GypsySpellweaver No, you can still get upvotes and downvotes on closed questions.
Killing the question will greatly reduce traffic.

Then it'd be better to DV than delete. Rep loss for answering a question clearly out of scope.
<-- vengeful sometimes.

Both, it's not useful, so DV, it's lacking an explanation so it's more of a comment than an answer, so vote to delete.

2:45 AM
Hi @GypsySpellweaver :)

Ultimately it's your choice so vote as you will and don't let people like me tell you otherwise.

Leads me to a different question. Why is etiquette not on topic on IPS? I understand that it can be very different across cultures, yet etiquette seems to me to be quite IPS-related.

@GypsySpellweaver Why do you think it's not?
> the written and unwritten - but well-established and expected - rules or conventions of behavior in a specific setting (also called etiquette).

Q: Mistakes with Contest Placings and Prizes

HadesHeraldI just recently won a laptop at a game night hosted by my university. I came in second place at the event. Afterwards, someone realized there had been a scoring mistake and I was third. Now, the actual second place wants me to trade prizes with them, as they would prefer the laptop over the Am...

@GypsySpellweaver Emphasis there on "well-established and expected"...

2:49 AM
@Catija I think it's hard to ask a good etiquette question that isn't really asking "What should I do in this situation?"

You can't have etiquette if there's no rules.

Q: Does the "never wear white to a wedding" rule of etiquette only apply to weddings attended in the United States?

steelersquirrelAs far as I have ever been aware, it has always been a rule of etiquette for a female guest to NEVER wear white when attending a wedding in the United States. It has always been my understanding that the bride should be the only female dressed in white. And still our answer, forever and alw...

@Catija That's a great counterexample.

The questions really need to be "tell me about this etiquette that I'm curious about"... not "what's the appropriate response".

@Catija And that's the important difference. I'd like to see more questions like that on the site.

@sphennings Indeed. :) I like them, myself. :)
But they're not easy to ask... and a lot of people seem to dislike "research" questions here... which is absurd to me as they're much more appropriate for the SE model than... well... what we've made our stock in trade.

2:53 AM
Short of using lawyers to draft questions, I think the laptop prize question was a good one. I read it as what's the etiquette for this situation, not tell me what to do. OP isn't wanting to be a jerk, if the etiquette is return the laptop, yet doesn't want to return it just to be "nice" to the other party.
The closing sentence, if read in that context, is less offensive to the site norms. Is it not?

@GypsySpellweaver Not really. They're asking "is it rude for me to not give them the laptop"... if they'd phrased it that way, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
They're asking permission to keep the laptop... we're really not here to judge that and I don't think we have enough information...
For example... Why does that question have the "cross culture" tag? Because they're an international student? What other culture? Is it important in the situation?

@Catija I'd argue that it's not even about rudeness, it's about morality, they're trying to feel good about not doing the right thing.

And, again... we're not here to judge or decide that... it's out of our scope. They want someone to tell them "they're being a jerk, keep it"...

I think often times that people conflate politeness with the correct course of action, similar to how a lot of questions are pathologically conflict averse.

In the laptop Q I think that was an important element. OP didn't want to be impolite, while not being walked on either.

3:03 AM
@GypsySpellweaver I don't see there being any IPS in the question. I was mistakenly given a thing, the rightful recipient of the thing wants it, can I keep it?

I am bad enough at my own IPS that I know I am unfit to evaluate the IPS-ness of others' behaviors, or their questions.
In reviews all I can do is evaluate based on the site, and SE, norms, as I understand them.

There's no skill involved. It would be different if they said "How can I approach the rightful owner about working out a deal where I get to keep it?" or "I have already purchased accessories for it how can I discuss selling them to the rightful owner?"

When it gets into areas where my apprehension is faulty, I just use the Skip button.

@GypsySpellweaver I have opinions and tend to speak as if my opinions are the truth. While I appreciate your willingness to discuss your decision process with others ultimately your vote is your choice and you should vote the way that makes sense to you.

@sphennings, I don't even think the other is the rightful owner. The award was made. Error later discovered doesn't invalidate the award. If the organization chooses to take corrective measures, that's on them. Absent that, the OP keeps, rightfully the laptop.

3:12 AM
@GypsySpellweaver Depends on how you're framing rightful owner, per the rules of the contest OP isn't. But they are in possession of it. It was freely given to them in good faith by the contest runners. There's probably a large amount of region specific caselaw about this but that is far outside our scope.

@sphennings When voting I am speaking with my voice. It affect the community, yes, as a member thereof. However, when doing reviews I am speaking in the name of the community. With the latter I prefer to follow the site's norms as much as possible. My agreement with the norms need not be perfect.
@sphennings Way outside scope, aye.

So there will always be grey areas left to the discretion of the voter. What I'm trying to say is that even though I'm strongly advocating that the answer should be deleted that I recognize that there is a lot of room for different interpretations of the facts by other voters.
It's important to me that when people ask me for advice that they don't feel pressured to conform to exactly what I say.
I've only been on this site for a couple of months. I'm still working out the quirks of this site for myself. I like to think that I'm open to having my mind changed instead of blindly arguing my convictions. I know I've changed my mind multiple times in my time on this site.

What I needed, and received, was to do the review against the current condition of the post, rather than what it was.

That's something I will fight people on.

@sphennings what is?
And why?

3:20 AM
Posts should be judged as they are currently written.
Comments are ephemeral, posts can be edited.

Seems reasonable to me. Have you had serious contention about that on IPS?

It's been close. I've never had to argue it here.
I have had to argue it on worldbuilding a couple of times.

Since I followed it, I guess you won't get the chance now either. ;P

There were questions that were closed for being unclear, edited to be clear but too broad, and I was arguing that despite fixing the stated close reason they still shouldn't be opened because in their current form they still should be closed.

That was just the first time I'd reviewed a post where I was pretty sure the flag was pre-edit, and the edit seemed to invalidate the flag, and/or comments.

3:23 AM
I don't see the close and reopen queues as opposites, I see them as separate assessments.
@GypsySpellweaver The edit just removed text. Nothing was added.

I know some sites where they reopen - the edit fixed the stated close reason - and then turn around and close for the new reason.

@GypsySpellweaver That requires an additional 5 people to close a question that should be closed.

The "logic" is that the new close notice shows the current issue with the post, so others who edit it know what the problem is.

When assessing questions in the reopen queue I ask myself "Would I vote to close this question?" If I answer no I vote to reopen.
@GypsySpellweaver Comments are wonderful for communicating how to fix questions. Especially on worldbuilding where they are much better about clearly explaining why questions are closed.

Some sites have a user-base where 5 close votes can happen inside 500ms. For those sites such a reversal isn't a problem.

3:27 AM
I guess... If I would vote to close the question if I came across it in it's current state I can't in good conscious vote for it to be opened. See the problem with chameleon questions.

Then again, each site has to figure out how they will handle different situations.

Point is I have strong opinions about that, and if someone was wanting to change my mind they'd have a much easier time if they argued pragmatics.

I'd be more interested in why they cared anyway. My vote, even in a review queue, is only one vote. If I vote to keep closed and 5 vote to reopen, it's reopened anyway. Short of being a mod, no one person can force a reopen, a reclose, or any other changes.
(CMs are just super Mods in that regard)

(unless it's a dupe closure and you have any gold tag badge users)... which doesn't apply here

Can a gold-badge dupe close be overridden by 5 regular reopen votes?

3:33 AM
Yep.

So, effectively, in appropriate cases, a gold badge just gives you 5 votes, but the rest of the rules and processes still apply.

Sure. But even a mod closure (for any reason) can be overridden... they're not going to give gold badge holders more power than a mod.

I suppose a post going open-close-open-close... would eventually get a mod involved anyway. A mod can do a lock can't they? Does that freeze everything?
Pardon the queries. Still learning pieces of SE, one by one.

There are different kinds of locks with different side effects. But, yes. If we feel that it's yoyoing too much, we can lock it.

Sort of like a "Cool it down folks", or "no fighting, kids" :)

I can.

I think deleted:1 is the only one that doesn't work for non-mods...
Those are all of the posts that have been locked here... you can see some of the reasons... some of the locks prevent voting, some editing... some answering...

Yeah that only shows my own deleted posts.

Unfortunately, the Locked post FAQ is... not very useful, really.

@sphennings Yep. I see everything :D

And only six so far. Not bad for the community.

@Catija That must be horrific.

If you're curious... there's over 2K deleted posts.
1600 are answers.
550 ish are questions.

Does that tally exclude spam?

Damn. Over 1/7th of all answers are deleted.

@Catija That's more than 1 deleted answer per question. . .
Yikes.

3:43 AM
@HDE226868 Well, presumably many of the deleted questions had answers?

@Catija Well, fair. I meant on average, though - it's still a lot.

There are somewhere around 80-100 deleted spam posts

How helpful, @art :D

@Catija heh, I had a DB connection open anyway so I figured I may as well pull the stats... as always not 100% accurate but not too far off

You can't dictate his relationship with her. Even the assumption that you need to "open his eyes" is probably offensive to him. Accept him for who he is and what he wants, and try to rebuild your relationship with him. Avoid trying to "protect" him from his girlfriend or contradict her. As you can see she now controls your access to him, so you may have to play her game in order to rebuild your relationship. Do it. Your relationship is more important than your pride regarding your beliefs about her, so get over it and focus on your relationship with him. — Adam Davis 1 min ago

@Magisch Morning :)

What's the snow like over there, @Magisch?
I'm thinking that if the south coast of Britain got a couple inches then there must be a fair bit over there

@ArtOfCode none
@ArtOfCode FYI I'm taking a couple days off of charcoal before I decide if I want to come back

None at all? Huh. There's usually at least some over there if I get some
@Magisch Yeah, no worries. Breaks are good for you :) I might take a day off myself at some point

@ArtOfCode It's actually 5C right now here

O.o
Weather station is reading -7

7:35 AM
it's always warmer in this county
we're surrounded by mountains on 3 sides
And it's overcast today meaning the sun warmth from yesterday is now trapped by the clouds

JAD
@ArtOfCode we've had the entirety of a quarter inch of snow :p
and it's -7 here atm

@JAD snow? Where?

JAD
have had, it's gone already
but last tuesday I think?

Ohhh. Makes sense ;)

@Tinkeringbell nice train
nicer than our commuter trains :(

JAD
7:47 AM
prettiest trains around

:D

@ArtOfCode I'm traveling first class. This is still the most crappy train you can have XD

JAD
@Tinkeringbell uh, well you could have the pre-renovated version of those models
or the old old sprinters

No wifi, no table for the laptop and no personal space

Heh. Britain can teach y'all a thing or two about crappy trains ;)

7:50 AM
@Tinkeringbell fancy tinkeringbell too fancy for second class?

@Magisch Duh

JAD
too long a commute I bet

50km travel first class is like 20 bucks here
who has the money to burn on that

If the employer pays, I'm going to profit XD

JAD
@Magisch the company apparently ;)

7:51 AM
Only thing is you have to act like a lady in here

JAD
A coworker back at TNO commuted daily from Tilburg to Den Haag, he got a 1st class subscription, while the company only paid for second class, so he paid for the exces himself. He earnt that back pretty reliably from reimbursements due to delays

So, it has it's downsides too, being fancy ;)
@JAD Yep.

JAD
@Tinkeringbell I'm not too convinced about this, judging from the people I see in there from time to time

@JAD hmm, well... There's people and there's people. Those probably aren't first class travellers then ;)

JAD
@JAD I do love the yellow-blue style of NS. It's quite unique in europe. I was at a model-train expo last weekend, and it's really easy to spot NS models because of it :D

8:00 AM
@JAD That's probably the only thing they're doing right XD

someone has been aggressively attacking my flags on SO
only 295 pending now

@Magisch wait wut... All the rest got accepted?

@Tinkeringbell about 40 compared to yesterday yeah
considering one of those takes an average of 20 minutes to handle, someone or multiple people have been putting in some real work

@Magisch what flags take twenty minutes to handle?!?
Are the moderator tools that bad?

@Tinkeringbell serial voting investigations

@Magisch Ohhh

in SOBotics on Stack Overflow Chat, Jan 9 at 16:43, by Bhargav Rao
@Magisch another unrelated info. The time it takes to handle one of those flags would be 15~20 mins on an average. So don't worry if they remain pending for a few weeks.

isnt there a script that runs overnight, that detects serial voting stuff?

And you still have 295 suspicious flags out there...

@Cashbee Yes but it's very conservative
beyond to a fault

@Cashbee It certainly detects the more obvious stuff

8:06 AM
@Tinkeringbell +80-110 per week
another 100 or so serial downvoting starting next week or the week after

@Magisch How...

@Tinkeringbell shitty third rate TSQL

@Magisch hah.. well, if it works it works

I made my own better (more sensitive) version of the serial voting reversal script except I can't reverse, only point to it
Using the data dump and some hacky ways around the vote time / identity limitations of the data dump

@Magisch Sound interesting

8:09 AM
it is, I like doing it

@Magisch Give yourself some credit
it's at least second rate ;)

heh
I'm working on improving my voting ring script next

so instead of reverting, your script flags the votes? or do you have to do that manually?

manually
it's not perfect, I review every case before flagging
It's actually kind of nice that the flags sit so long
means JNat doesn't have to reverse so much at once

Hey people :) could you help me out with my question? It's getting close votes. It's the one linked by the bot just above.

@Belle I thought I saw that question before...
Oh wait no, sorry

@Mithrandir What do you mean? And lol, you have the same avatar as I do in our work slack
Well almost the same

@Belle Unfortunately, this question appears to be asking “What should I do?”, which the community has determined to not be a good fit for Interpersonal Skills Stack Exchange. We can’t decide for you what to do; after you determine what you want to do, we can help you with your goal, but we can’t make these decisions for you. Sorry.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand that.
I wanted to ask how I can help him, but last time I got reprimanded that I should leave options open for other opinions. confused

Okay, one moment

1:16 PM
@Belle IPS.SE will not help you with decisions like "Should I help my friend?". You will have to decide that for yourself, and if you decide that you want to help him, then you can ask here how you can achieve that

You ask this:
> What does it mean? And what can I do? How can I respond to it? Can and should I help him to respond differently?

Well yeah. Like the person asking how they can talk the person wearing headphones.

First off, that's 4 different questions. That's tripping my "too broad" sense.

It's can and should in the same way.

The first one - "What does it mean?" - seems off topic for IPS.

1:18 PM
But the answer to the question is perfect. So it's answerable.

The second one - "What can I do?" - doesn't have a clear goal.

exactly. he isn't asking if he should. (funny enough in that example most answers are going for a frame challenge and say "don't do it")

So if I change my question to be how I can help him, is it on topic?

Neither does the third one ("How can I respond to it?).

Because that's what I wanted to ask, but I got told not to ask such questions, because they restrict answers.

1:20 PM
The fourth - "Can and should I help him to respond differently?" - seems like a what should I do question, which is primarily opinion-based.

I meant that in a "How can I help him, if it's appropriate to help him"-kind of way
Is that not on topic? There's more questions like that, right?

Ehh... "how can I help" seems a bit broad.

Are my goals okay, though?

@Belle what do you want the outcome of your helping him to be? Figure that out, then ask how to achieve that.

@Belle it looks like this is your "goal" in the question:
> I would like to know how I can reply to his response, because I do not know how to react.

1:24 PM
Yeah.

What are you trying to accomplish with your reply?

That still doesn't really have an actionable goal. It's essentially asking "what should I respond". You need to decide what you want your response to do, and then we can help you.
Sorry, our requirements for questions can be a bit harsh and confusing ;)

I'm not sure. My brain just tilts when someone says "I didn't mean to!" after they hurt me.
If someone says "sorry", I know to respond "it's okay", but I have no idea how to respond to "I didn't mean to!". I was already aware of that. Surely he wouldn't step on my foot on purpose?
Or in the example of the window, I'm quite certain he has done something similar. I guess I don't want my brain to tilt.

@Belle not my close vote, looks fine to me

i.e. do you want him to stop saying that, or do you want him to be aware that you think those comments of his are unnecessary?

1:28 PM
could use more clarity on what actionable goal you want in the end, though
You could ask how to reduce his anxiety for instance, or how to make him stop apologizing for everything

@Belle If you want to know how to react in general, so that your head does not tilt, that would be an intrapersonal problem an therefore off topic

Ah I see. One moment :)

Grr, this tic in my eye has refused to go away

There a lots of things you can do but most won't be helpful to you. We want to know more about what you want so that we can provide relevant answers.

Mildly off topic, but where would I ask about what a DPO needs to do
Or find out about that

1:31 PM
"I would like him to stop apologising (saying "I didn't mean to"), for every single thing, especially if not relevant."
How's that?

sounds good
I think anyways
Thats a clear adressable goal from which you can branch out to analyze underlying causes and suggest solutions

@Magisch the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra should play music

That's a good start. Adding something about why you want that so that it can be incorporated into any answers that suggest using your feeling words would be helpful.

that's a good goal. Now you only need to formulate a question around that goal

Discontinued post offices should probably not do anything.

@Belle they exist
Going off the Wikipedia page for "DPO"

Dynamic positioning operator
Downsizing of Private Objects

@Magisch Hahaha we had a cyber security workshop yesterday and even that person didn't know exactly what it was...
But I think your position is related to the GDPR

I know there's a new european law coming in May that we need to prepare for

Oh yeah, they're really busy with that at my work
They recently implemented some new security that's really annoying to work with

... we haven't started and I'm supposed to do this in addition to my own work

@Magisch Yep, that's where the position comes in

oops

Oof, we have a whole department working on that

I'm an expert in nothing :D

1:41 PM
There we go, question edited :)
And a downvote...

don't take downvotes personally
everyone gets some

@Magisch A Jack of no trades, but a master of all? :D

Don't get mad, they didn't meant to :P

@AlexanderAeonsTorn ROFL
Good thing I just put my drink down. Colleagues are now looking at me...

Honestly I don't fully agreed with people who say it was too broad. I can clearly see your intentions and think it's a good question. I was thnking on writting an aswer for it. But I think dealing with this kind of scenarion ain't my best at all :(

1:44 PM
@AlexanderAeonsTorn I think you're reading between the lines :) what I was somewhere in there, but not explicitly stated.

@Belle Thanks for editing - close and down votes retracted
(I downvoted because I close voted, and I close voted because of the reasons I attempted to explain in chat.)

@sphennings I speak British English! Realise! ;)
@Mithrandir Understandable. Thanks for all the help, everyone.

Eek. I've cast exactly 500 more downvotes than upvotes.

Rude ;)

Sid
@Belle *Correct English, you mean. I mean, British English is obviously correct unlike some other English...

1:48 PM
Savage Mithrandir. I've not casted a downvote yet. But I only have been active for a week :P I'm too soft anyway :(

Yeah, I've been around since private beta. The site desperately needs flags and downvotes, though.

Btw just wanted to say to all the regulars and people who have contributed the most to raise this, this SE rocks. after seeing posts for months I decided to start contributing.
I guess question more related to interpretation to interpersonal intercourse would be more offtopic since this site is more focused on trying to provide tools to perform better at certain situations. Or there are any good examples of questions like this?

I'm... not quite sure what you mean by that.

Sid
That moment when you see +100 in the reputation tab but then remember that it's because of a new account you created. Sigh

@Mithrandir negative nancy
I did raise 9 comment flags today, though
Although I'm really weary of casting comment flags since they get declined at random sometimes

1:54 PM
@Mithrandir I mean for example a question that would be more about "I had this interpersonal situation with someone", what information can I extract from that?

@AlexanderAeonsTorn Those questions seems to be deemed off-topic, but I personally think they could be a good fit.

@Belle It can't be both off topic and a good fit.

I mean, I read a lot of questions on this site, thinking about a possible answer first and then reading the answer to learn about conversational/interpersonal skills
@sphennings It can be if the off-topic definition gets changed

@Magisch some of that is a slightly confusing script that people were testing out, written by a CM, some is because of a mod who has a different opinion on comments
From what I hear, at least

@Belle If you want to change the definition of off-topic you could try to sway community opinion by posting on meta but I don't think that would go over well.

A: Why was my comment flag declined? (I flagged an answer in a comment)

JohnI believe you are referring to me as the moderator who declined the flag. So I feel compelled to post here. Some preliminary remarks: Users are encouraged and welcome to flag anything they think is flawed for one reason or another. But that does not guarantee that everyone will agree with you ...

@sphennings I don't care enough about it to post on meta. Maybe @AlexanderAeonsTorn does? I would vote for it, though.

@Belle Point is it is currently off topic.

I just say so because I think there are a lot of question I seem to not be able to provide any insights since they are more about how to seem friendly/interesting, etc.

But in questions where I can answer on what to do depending on the feelings you want to evoque or how to empathize or understand what's going through the other persons mind I seem like I can provide good value there.

@sphennings It is. I don't disagree with you on that. I personally think the questions could be interesting, I was merely agreeing with Alexander that I see the value in these type of questions.

@Belle There are many questions that are both interesting and valuable that aren't on topic for this site. That's why there are so many different exchanges on this site.

@Magisch hmm, I have 366 comment flags, 9 of which are declined. I don't think it's all that random

I've cast 1,292 comment flags. 2 are pending, 28 were declined, 1,262 marked helpful.

JAD
so pretty much the same proportion

Thats 97,5% helpful
I'm used to 99,5%+

JAD
then you gotta be more selective in what you flag

A J
I have 332 comments flags, 23 of which are declined.

OTOH, I also have a streak of 120+ helpful flags atm
thats only comment flags

If you feel it was wrongly declined I'd advise raising a meta.

JAD
so excluding post flags about comments
A declined flag every now and then isn't a big deal, unless you make it one

@JAD declined flags say "You shouldn't have flagged that"
So yeah, it's kind of a deal since it's a tool to indicate a change you should make in your flagging behavior

JAD
Yes, I for one don't assume to be right 100% of the time

right
ideally you avoid making the same mistake twice, though

2:13 PM
@Magisch and sometimes the mod was wrong in declining it.
...I remember accidentally declining a comment flag once because the car hit a bump.

@Mithrandir Thats when you call them out on meta

Q: Why was this 'too chatty' comment flag declined?

MithrandirI happened to come across this answer: Add a randomised body class. I noticed that it had a comment that said, simply, This looks perfect, thanks! So I flagged this as 'too chatty'. When you go to post a comment, you see this: Use comments to ask for more information or suggest impro...

Also since you can't know if the mod was wrong in declining it or you were wrong in flagging it because of a detail or rule unknown to you
which has happened for me

@Mithrandir you forgot to say please

Q: Why were these too chatty flags declined on some +1 comments?

Arwen EvenstarSimilar to this situation, I've had 7 recent comment flags declined on noisy comments. These comments are just of the '+1' or 'Thanks' type: Huge "THANKS!". :) +100 to apachectl configtest +10 for "Scrollen und Zoomen" When you go to post a comment, you see this: Use co...
