@EmC I misread that as "cats", which I suppose makes around the same amount of sense

I discovered something really scary yesterday
I recently added content to my blog that's also registered under the "avazula" username (it's only available in French for now) and so I Googled it to see whether people could find it when typing my username
And I stumbled across questions that I had written upon the whole SE domain, translated on Russian, Chinese and Spanish Stack Exchange copycats

0_0
Was it at least properly attributed?

I looked for explanation on meta this morning, and some people explained that since everything we post on SE is registered under the CC-BY-SA license then it's "normal" that some sites just copy the whole content
@JourneymanGeek When at least on the Spanish site I found my username linked to my AU profile. Wanna see an example?

@avazula with proper attribution ;p

@JourneymanGeek Yeah, I found that too

if they don't you can report it to SE - but otherwise... there's not much to do

11:29 AM
@JourneymanGeek Oh I know, I was just really surprised ... and a bit afraid too

why afraid?

For instance, I'm not sure this one attributes the content's authorship

that dosen't

@JourneymanGeek Should I report it?

I believe so

11:31 AM
This one doesn't either
Erh ... Like I didn't have enough work to do! haha
They both wrote "licensed under cc by-sa 3.0 with attribution" at the bottom of the page. Is that enough?

@avazula Doesn't look good enough to me...
But I'm not a lawyer

@Tinkeringbell Erh. I'm gonna try to report those, then
Man, that's a side of SE I didn't know about :p

Oh wait.

@avazula where's the attribution?

That one does have a really, really small 'a source' button under the question linking to the original on AU

11:37 AM
they need a link back to the original post somewhere

@Tinkeringbell Does it link to AU for you? Because for me it only links to their page of questions tagged "apt"

@avazula Don't click the apt, click the 'a source' :) And that does bring me here: askubuntu.com/questions/1062810/…

@Tinkeringbell Aaaaah, I couldn't find it because I didn't translate the page and it was still displaying in Russian
(which I can't read haha)

11:40 AM
That's the good thing about translate, I guess ;)

Did you know about this practice?

No, not really. But it seems at least that site is doing it right ;)

@Tinkeringbell Yeah ... The only interest I can find in this scraping is the translation, for those who don't speak English well enough

Q: communication between teammembers

dnsivI am working in a university coding project of 8 people. We're working on gitlab and everytime someone does a merge request, at least 3 people need to look over the code and upvote the request, if everything seems okay. If at least 2 people upvoted, the third will merge the branch with our main b...

@JourneymanGeek Wasn‘t it „If wanted with proper attribution“? So you had actually in some way to inform them „either by i.e. noting it in your profile or by commenting or that alike on it. But I gotta ask that my boss tomorrow anyways, as I had some questions about the share alike on friday :D
Hmmm no, the license is quite clear about „you must provide attribution“ Hmmm lets me doubt in the powerpoint presentation I viewed on friday 🙈

finished my hat! now I will be extra warm tomorrow morning waiting for the bus \o/

Ooh that one looks nice!
You're churning out projects faster than me lately!

it's beautiful :)

thanks :) this one was surprisingly quick, the cable pattern wasn't nearly as complicated as it looked at first

I might need to make myself a new hat soon too. The one I made a few years ago is starting to look ugly.
But I really need to finish sewing ends of my blanket first, and that's a chore I dislike (because I didn't really like how the blanket turned out either)
And then there's already another project I'm working on too... that I also don't feel like continuing :/
Anyway. Enough rambling. Enjoy your hat, it looks really pretty :) I'm going to sleep.

'night!

9:44 PM
@Tinkeringbell Sleep tight!
